hahaha you obviously are an outsider... and you obviously havent seen st paul play, so if i were you id have a more solid background of not just one team but both, then make a decision... and not just say something stupid like that lol
His comment may have been a bit outlandish, but are you trying to say no one is allowed to pick the winner unless they have researched both teams? If so then I am fairly confident that wipes out well over half of the people posting in this thread.

Fans will be fans, whats wrong with him rooting for his team for whatever reason he wants? Is there some rule somewhere that says he isn't allowed to call the game anyway he sees for whatever reason he wants?

Ok.... Purplepony, footballfan, and inflatable pirate duck just relax. Pirate duck is right, purple pony doesn't need background info to come on here and say who he wants to win. Footballfan you are also right, it probably would have been smarter for purple pony to look into both teams before posting his comment. Had he looked into it though, I can guarantee his "commentary" would still be the same.

good luck to both teams for an injury free game!
    Go Flyers.

Actually who you played does matter. When you have to compete at a high level week in and week out that helps prepare you.
Yep it sure does help prepare you...... and BEAT you up. Which I'm hoping is the case here with DSJ's

If NSP is better than Wynford (28-21) (a team that would have handled ADA) then look out DSJ they can play with you too. Because of the playoff experience and tough games in the MAC each weak, I'll pick DSJ but if DSJ plays like they have the last two weeks, NSP could easily win this game. DSJ 21 NSP 14.
Comparing scores are worthless. Leipsic handled Fremont St. Joe in the playoffs by 16. St. Johns hammered Leipsic by 27. Ada lost to St. Johns by 3, so Ada should be....40 points better than Fremont St. Joe? And since St. Joe beat H-L and Carey....40+ points better than both of those teams? See what I'm saying? Doesn't work.

Wynford rolls through one of the easiest conferences in the state every year. They usually get beat in the first round...possibly second. This year they met up with a down H-L team and continued on.

My opinion remains unchanged. If coldwater can only score 20 points on the Jays defense, St. Henry only 6 points, Marion Local only 7, Tinora 0 points, then I find it hard to believe that NSP will be able to generate enough offense to win. Possible but not likely. On the other hand DSJ will have a great size advantage, and have the ability to go 2-platoon if they want.

    I'm going with DSJ 21-7. Possibly 28-7

Dlephos is tough and always will be but St. Paul is rolling and I don't see them losing this one. NSP wins by 4.
    NSP-28
    DSJ-24

This should be an interesting game. I feel it will come down to defense & big game experience. Norwalk St. Paul is a strong program from a weak conference that doesn't play alot of close games and I think it hurts them in situations like this.

DSJ wins 21-6 is my guess.
Good luck to both teams. Lets hope for a clean injury free game.

I think DSJ is a beast and have alot of respect for their program. Having sadi that, I love the way the Flyer defense is playing and will take NSP to win in a close one 20-17.

The key to the game for SP on defense is to contain the running game somewhat, and force some passes. This is what SP did against Wynford, just enough contain especially at the end of the game. On defense SP has to be disciplined cause if they stop the run DSj will find whatever it is that will work. In last year's final, Hopewell Loudon played tough until DSJ broke their back with a long pass to a wideout, then a play action with a long pass to the running back out of the backfield, who noone bothered to pickup. SP has to continue discliplined play. At the same time I'd like to see em continue playing agressive pressure defense, use the speed they have. Get penetration every play. If they sit back and read, DSj will use their size to move em.
On offense, spread that ball all over the field, make em run. Throw it long, throw it short, wide, tight end down the middle, play action, reverses. This is no time to get conservative for SP.

I really believe NSP will be able to put some points on the board. As well as the Flyer D has been, it will be a HUGE challenge to slow down DSJ's offense. I think this one will come down to who can make the key situational defensive stops. A turnover or 2 at the wrong time(I guess there is no right time for a turnover in a title game) could be the difference. I'm looking forward to watching the DSJ/ML game (hopefully it will show up on our on demand tonight). I'm very interested to see how ML's defense slowed DSJ down. Having watched the DSJ/St Henry game, the Flyer D will have to be extremely disciplined, which is one of their strengths, in order to slow DSJ down. They also will have to be able to bounce right back after giving up any big plays, which DSJ WILL get. But the Flyers showed that ability in spades vs Wynford & I believe they will again. Can't wait for sat! Here's to a great and injury free game! I've been hoping for this matchup since the beginning of the year. I know, I know, be careful what you hope for and all that. Hey, to be the best, ya gotta beat the best, & I believe the Flyers are capable of doing just that. OK all out of cliches for this post

never did i say you cant speak your opinion, thats what these forums are for.. Isnt that what i did is speak my opinion about his? i probably could have used different words, but i just thought it was discrediting to the flyer players saying they have no chance what so ever and that its going to be a simple short game for dsj and a lot of ppl would prolly agree when i say that chances are it prolly wont be a blow out for either team. a high powered offense for both teams and great defense for both teams. i think a 1st team defense to hold a semi final team to 0 first downs/ points the whole game, is pretty impressive. furthermore, both teams will more than likely have their hands full this weekend. -thats just my opinion! :D

I for one am hoping DSJ wins easily. I don't think I can take anymore close games. The Coldwater, Ada, and Marion Local games were enough for me.
Sorry, your in for ONE more!! DSJ will not win easily!!!

I think the 4th place team in the FC could of beat Berlin Cneter Western Reserve, Mogadore and GCC. Only Wynford was better than AC, WR and MVILLE.

There are much worse conferences than the FC, the NOL this year was horrible. What makes the FC look so bad is the bottom 4 teams. The top 4 our always playoff quality.
The FC is worse then the NOL!! Mapleton, South Central, Plymouth and New London Stink. Western has never made the playoffs, Monroeville is not even close to getting back to the playoffs. Ashland Crestview is not bad, BUT..... they too had their butts handed to them vs St Pauls. I like Delphis in this game because of their history 35-12, it sounds to me that the Marion Local / Delphos game would have been a great State title game.
hotrods- I'm not saying that the FC would beat the NOL in head to head matchups because I don't believe that would happen. Bu given the size of the schools and the competition they play, the FC is certainly better than the NOL this year. If you matched them up 1-8, the NOL would probably win 6 or 7 of the games. NSP, Crestview, Monroeville and WR cetainly are on equal terms if not as good as when you compare Divisions to the 4 best NOL teams.

1st FC (NSP) finished 2nd in Region and is playing for state title.
2nd FC (AC)- finished 4th in their region and lost 1st round of playoffs.
3rd FC (Mville)- finished 9th in region missing playoffs by 1 spot.
4th FC (WR) finished 17th in their region.

1st NOL (Galion)- finished 1st in region and lost 1st round of playoffs.
2nd NOL (TC)- finished 12th in region.
3rd NOL (Bellevue)- finished 14 th in region.
4th NOL (Shelby)- finished 18th in region.

Certainly when comparing by Division and Region against the competition they re suppose to play. The FC is a more competitive conference this year.

I belive you said Mville is not even close to gwetting back in the playoffs. That statement alone tells the readers on here that you have no clue what your talking about as they finished just 1 spot away from making the playoffs. In the future maybe you should think about what you say before you actually make yourself look even more silly.
What I'm saying is the FC is not as good as some people think. If St Pauls and Ashland Crestview were not apart of this conference I think none of the other teams left would have still never made the playoffs. This year...... Ok, Mville WAS close but, they could not beat a playoff type team which IMO still leaves them weak. My bad on the WR, I must have missed that 1 playoff season in the last 40 years. Because of the weak FC Western will always have a hard time making the playoffs, not that it won't happen just a harder time doing it. Plus making the playoffs once every 25 years does not make them a great team, just a notch better than the 4 weaker ones. St Pauls is the only school keeping the FC on the map, AC and WR are just bad division 5 teams. The FC is boring to watch when teams are blowen away by 50 to 60 points week after week and year after year. You can knock on me all you want these are just my thoughts right wrong or indifferent.
  • myvette777
You are absolutely right, it is boring to watch the weaker teams in the FC get beat up week in and week out, i think St Paul should move to another conference where the competition is tougher, that will only help them compete with much bigger schools! BUT, i do believe St Paul will show why they are in the Championship game! They have beaten some good teams in the playoffs to get where they are at, like Mogadore, always a tough team, score-48-7, Wynford, ranked toward the top of the region most of the year, score-28-21,, St Paul will definately show up for the State Championship!!!

What can we expect to see from NSP ? What type of offense , defense do they run . Player size and speed . How many play both sides of the ball ?

    Go JAYS : GO MAC
  • footballfan
still havent heard anything about who is the home/away team? anyone know?
  • underdog32
Speed, speed, and more speed. The Flyers are not a large team, but they are blazingly fast on O and D. They are run first, but are very successful passing the ball when they chose to do so. You will see a lot of different formations from the Flyers on offense. On defense they run a 4-4 and are very good at stopping the run. St. John's will be a different animal as I hear they run the triple option very well. I think the Flyers will still do a good job defending this as they are very disciplined on D. I also think that they have only given up 1 passing TD all season. Their DBs are all very athletic and very fast, so throwing on them will not be easy.

St Paul is the top team on the bracket so they are the home team.

There will be absolutely NO name calling going on..read the rules. If you can't disagree without having to do that..you will get some time off. Not going down here.

OK did not want to listen to Obama or watch basketball, so I compiled some strength of schedule numbers between both schools. I only took playoff opponents and who made the playoffs.

    Norwalk St Paul:
    1 Playoff team-Ashland Crestview

    Week 1 opponent:
    Berlin Center Western Reserve
    1-playoff team-McDonald

    Week 2 opponent:
    Mogadore
    1 playoff team-Woodridge

    Week 3 opponent:
    Bucyrus Winford
    0 playoff teams

    Week 4 opponent:
    Grove City Christian
    1 playoff team-Zanesville Rosecrans

    Delphos St Johns:
    5 playoff teams-Lima Central Catholic,Tinora,Coldwater,St Henry & Marion Local

    Week 1 opponent:
    Arlington
    2 playoff teams- Cory-Rawson & Leipsic

    Week 2 opponent:
    Leipsic
    3 playoff teams-Patrick Henry,Arlington & Cory Rawson

    Week 3 opponent:
    Ada
    2 playoff teams-LCC & Columbus Grove

    Week 4 opponent:
    Marion Local
    4 playoff teams-Coldwater,St Henry,St Johns & Anna

I think the numbers speak for themselves DSJ had the tougher road to the final than NSP.
  • underdog32
BearDSJ82, I don't think anyone is disputing who had the tougher schedule. DSJ had a much tougher schedule in the regular season. The level of opponents each team played through the regional finals were similar in difficulty. With DSJ playing MSML in the semi's and NSP playing Grove City Christian in the semi's the playoff difficulty goes to DSJ.

Like I said, I was bored and just threw it out for fun, thats all.

It's a good thing 3 of the teams mentioned weren't in region 21 they wouldn't have made the playoffs. arlington, rawson and grove don't get in, in region 21. So trying to compare shedules in the manner that you are really doesn't carry much weight does it. Or maybe the flyers were battle tested after all.
