No way could Norwalk beat Wynford. Norwalk barely beat Upper for their only win.

Some great pix taken by the Sandusky Register photographer.
This photographer did an awesome afternoon's work here. Don't know who the guy is, but great job.

I've said it all along, if St. Paul was to win a state title, THIS was the team you wanted on the opposite sidelines. STJ has set the bar and you can't be a champion unless you beat one and they did. No one threw the ball on the Flyers all year. The defense held a phenomenal quarterback to 37 yards on the ground. The difference in statistics for the game were simply staggering. From total yardage (nearly a 300-yd advantage for the Flyers), to third and fourth down conversions and time of possession, this was a game in which the numbers clearly favored STP.

I couldn't be happier for Coach Livengood and his staff and was happy to pay off my 10-year vow to them at Whitney Field after the game. =)

Wes Ulm, as I told you after the game, it was honestly a privilege to be able to compete against you, your school and of course that tradition. What a player.

This was a program victory. A community victory. Anyone who's ever worn the red helmet should be walking on cloud nine this weekend!

    FINALLY!
Very classy post, Sportscaster! Strong support of YOUR team, without cheap shots at ours... Too bad more of the St. Paul "faithful" don't feel as you do.

Thanks... posts like this will earn far more respect from other fans on this board than the chest beating and beatdowns of high school kids that many are spouting.

This thread is pretty tame compared to the years of verbal beatdown and disrespect the rest of the state has endured from certain fan bases on these forums. There is a certain small amount of irony in your post.

Although this year, I would say not nearly as much chest thumping from out that way as there was in the past. Keep up the civility, it works wonders for your soul.
You guys play great football, congrats.

Two great teams.... Ive had the privledge of attending plays off games of both schools in the past .... Quality Football at any level... Well Done Flyers .....

Look, no one can dispute the greatness of these 2 programs. The amount of hard work it takes to consistently stay atop the elite of the state is astonishing & I'm sure each program can correctly make the claim that nobody outworks them. This was just the Flyers year (almost 20 years in the making). Cliches are cliches for a reason, because they are true, & the one about to be the best, you have to beat the best couldn't be any more true in this case. DSJ is the top of the food chain, but it was the Flyers turn to eat on saturday & now we can say that both teams are champions.
On a side note, a lot of people complain that the mac is too cocky or whatever to which I have to say: Well duh, we would be too, but one thing that is very evident & that I respect the most is that each school pulls for eachother as if it were their own. I wish we could see that more.
Once again, congrats to both teams & WAY TO GO FLYERS!!!

Nice and mellow. I'm proud of our fans also, there was no trouble that I heard of. A couple of the older alumni celebrated pretty hard Saturday night, but due to the early game start, many of the veterans were home brushing their teeth by 12:00.
Most of the bars were crowded. The Shamrock had alumni from various decades, mostly behaving themselves. One of them attempted a drunken toast from behind the bar and did ok despite (or more likely helped by) too many Cpn Morgan's.
Big cheers erupted when replays of the game came on tv.
The team got a police and fire escort to Whitney Field where a large crowd cheered a victory lap under the lights.

at 1:00 the Delphos player kicks the OHSAA advertisement, maybe its a message to the OHSAA
  • Sportscaster17
He should have kicked the CHOCOLATE MILK sign instead!! What a cockamamie official beverage of the OHSAA!! Drink chocolate milk before and after wrestling practice and get the worst cotton mouth you've ever had!
  • wesflyer87
how would you even know how to spell 'cockamamie'? lol

If I could have Chocolate milk on tap I would

Gee maybe Western should change their name to Western St. Reserve and then they will be able to compete with all of the private schools. And the St. Paul fans have the nerve to call WR fans and players disrespectful???? Sounds to me after what you have written, you should practice what you preach!!!
Strap - What are you trying to say by this? You make no sense. Could you clarify? Success comes from dedication, discipline and hard work. What does St. have to do with it.

Best thing to do is not stir the pot. Unhappy people will always be unhappy. Ignore it. If I read the facebook group properly, there is some confusion as to what that is about. There are quite a few St Paul alumni in that facebook group.
There are St. Paul alumni yes, but they only joined to make the group a joke. If you notice a bunch of the players from the Championship team are also on there. Notice as soon as St. Paul people started posting on there about how disappointed they were about the group, no one else from Western responded.

I was one Wynford fan out of many that knew both of these region 21 teams could and would compete with the Gods of football and congratulations St. Paul on winning it all.I have tremendous respect for the MAC and its small school sports programs but great programs exist around the state and fact is the best football in DVI was played in region 21 this year. The game is played and won on the field folks. Next year I think everyone will remember that the state championship game will need to be played before the trophy is granted.

I edited this post from an earlier post as I come on somewhat strong.

Royalbuck, as a ST Paul Fan, i totally agree with you, maybe now Region 21 will get the respect we deserve in the state playoffs!!

Question for all the St. Paul fans, I was sitting on your side for the game and couldn't help but get caught up in the emotion of your dramatic win. I was going to be coming past that area soon and was wondering where I might be able to stop to get a state championship T-Shirt or somethng

Wow what a great night of support for the Flyer football team and coaches this evening at the community celebration. it was great to see all the fans and family members present. The marching brass did another outstanding job. With the turnout at Whitney Field on Saturday night and all the people in attendance again tonight the players and coaches are on cloud nine with all the support. Way to go Flyer Nation!

Cards they did have t-shirts on sale this evening for $5. What a deal. They sold out though. When I left and stopped to get mine all they had left were mediums. They did say they would be posting an order form on the school web site. As I find out more I will post information for you.
