this is the 2nd straight year that a team from north central Ohio has matched up against DSJ for the D6 title. I would love to see St Paul will get it done

ChiBear -- Wynford's QB numbers from that game were 17 rushes for 104 yards and 8 of 20 passing for 127 yards 1TD and 1 INT. I wouldn't say the Flyers had problems. They contained him and didn't allow him the big play to hurt them. That is the same thing they will need to do with Ulm. Yes Ulm will gain yards. They just can not give up the big play. Remeber Brause is 6'4" 220 and runs a 4.68 and is a D1 athlete. If the Flyers can contain him they stand a chance at doing the same with Ulm. The key is the flyer defense must stay disciplined and follow their assignments. Staying in their gaps and not giving up the cut back lane. You will see a flyer defense that attakcs the ball. They are fast this helps prevent giving up the big play. Our D-tackle chased Brause down from behind, that is the speed this defense has.

The state needs to stop the practice of hoarding choice seats at the finals. The school's presale tickets get you a seat on the 20 yard line? bought ahead of time on Tuesday morning? Bullcrap. Choice seats should go to supporters of the teams, not somebody's buttkisser from state. I am really frickin irritated.

I looked more in depth into the All-Ohio selections, and since these teams have been into the playoffs they have had to go through 25 All-Ohio Selections.

(I know that teams are not made of one player but this is still a valuable statistic in my mind)

This is how it is broken down:
    DSJ:
    Arlington: 0 All-Ohio selections.
Leipsic: 2 Third team, and 1 HM All-Ohio selections.
Ada: 2 First team, and 2 Second team All-Ohio selections.
ML: 1 Third team All-Ohio selection.

To get to the Semi-finals DSJ had to beat Co-offensive POTY Heath Jackson from Ada.

DSJ has 5 All-Ohio selections of it's own 4 First team and 1 Second team, 1st team selection Chris Pohlman was also Defensive POTY.

    St.Paul
BCWR: 1 Second team, 1 Third team, and 1 HM All-Ohio selections.
Moggy: 2 Third team, and 2 HM All-Ohio selections.
WYN: 2 First team, and 2 Second team All-Ohio selections.
GCC: 3 First team, 1 Third team, and 2 HM All-Ohio selections.

To get to the Semi-finals Norwalk St.Paul had to beat Co-offensive POTY Tyler Brause from Wynford.

Norwalk St.Paul has 7 All-Ohio selections of its own. 4 First team, 1 Second team, 1 Third team, and 1 HM. Norwalk St.Paul is also home of the 2008 POTY Eric Schweiterman.

    --------

As you can see both teams had rough roads to the championship game.
Difference maker in this one is the 2009 Coach of the year : John Livengood.

I will let you guys take these stats the way you want to. I'm not saying; I'm just saying. :)

    Congrats again to both schools!

speaking of all-ohio teams, am i mistaken or did the NSP qb get left off all 3 teams (1st, 2nd, & 3rd)? i'm a mogadore fan & i was very impressed with the NSP qb. i don't know his name, so maybe he made it on defense, but he should be 1st team all-ohio at qb without a doubt.

After watching what DSJ did in the title game last year to Bascom Hopewell -Loudon, I would suggest that Norwalk St. Paul send someone to hit the QB every single time if they start running the option. Make him pitch the ball and then hope you have the speed to pursue and run the pitch man down. BH-L never did this and the DSJ quarterback just held on to the ball and torched them. Looking forward to a great game and best of luck to St. Paul - here's hoping you get your first title.

He was injured for half the year, so his stats are not what others had. Made POTY in 08, honorable mention this year. No problem, nothing like a little incentive for the big game.

Good luck St Paul from GCC! Great group of people. Bring it home!

Trust me, the St. Paul coaches will have these players ready to defend the option. If they can't stop it, it is not because they don't know how to defend it, it will be because DSJ is making the plays (which I hope is not the case). I was shocked at how H-L seemed so unprepared for it last year.

Is it saturday yet??? This will be a dandy!!! IMO it will be the best game of all divisions!!!

The better part of defense is simply getting to where you need to be before the opponent can stop you. Speed is the x factor here. St Paul can do this.

Very true, but DSJ has some horses to bring down. St. Paul must do a good job tackling. St. Paul is usually gang tackling on every play. The triple option will spread them out a bit, but I think they can handle it just fine.

St Johns is probably one of the best prepared teams I have watched play this year. Coach Schulte definitely is a master at game planning. IF St Paul wins. it definitely will not be because St Johns is not prepared... If there is a weakness to be found..Schulte will find it... and no I am not a DSJ supporter...far from it..lol..but I am a football fan who enjoys a good disciplined team...

I still had the DSJ - HL game on my DVR from last year and finally watched it. I did attend the finals last year so never had the desire to watch the film again. HL did not assign a player to the QB. Each play when the option was run, the D-tackle and inside backer hit the dive man, the outside backer and D-end hit the pitch man. Ulm ran free to the tune of 199 yards. I can assure you this will not happen on Saturday.

Thats what makes the triple option. If Ulm reads that situation he will run the ball.

If someone is assigned to the qb though it is a lot harder for him to run free. Remember These kids fast a good option team in Huron last year and faced Mcdonald and E.Canton who both ran a wing T option I believe.

My thoughts exactly, Arnold! How is it that family of players who get there as soon as presale goes on get seats on the 20 yard line, row double ZZ behind a pole? Their system is crap. I'll bet i could roll the dice and get better seats at the gate. Whats up with that OHSAA?

What made the triple option so successful against H-L is they only accounted for two of the options in their gameplan. You can bet NSP will account for all 3. Saying it is easier than doing it, but H-L didn't even attempt the fundamentals.

The only way St. Paul stays in the game is if DSJ's turns the ball over. The Blue Jays are bigger, stronger, deeper and faster than St. Paul.

The first three you are probably right, but faster...no way

Agreed, NSP gives up the size advantage but makes up with it in speed. I think that last one goes to the Flyers.

    Good Luck to both teams

I'll give you bigger and deeper, not stronger, pound for pound anyway, and not faster. You haven't seen St Paul play obviously.
Look at Ohio St, who has gotten eaten alive in bowl games by teams with better speed. We can only hope....

I also believe turnovers could play a big part of this game (like any game). I think if one team has a +2 on the turnover margin they will be the winner. It should be a great game and I'm looking forward to a great game.

St. Paul wins because of the turnover margin and special teams.

How do you know they are faster. Delphos consistantly sends football players to state in track. You guys should know, you finished right behind the Jays in the 4x100 last year.
