Shurmur's going to get another shot as a HC. I'd bet on it.Commander of Awesome;1883645 wrote:https://twitter.com/evansilva/status/935364781581783041

Pettine and Erica don’t deserve to be in the same group as Shurmur and Hue.Commander of Awesome;1883645 wrote:https://twitter.com/evansilva/status/935364781581783041

Hue is a good guy and the players like him, so it clouds people’s judgement. Shurmur had a childish face you wanted to punch a dent into. Hue might be worse as a HC than Shurmur. -
BR1986FBI still contend that Mangini, like Butch Davis, would've been a pretty good coach if he kept his finger out of the personnel "pie." Neither of those guys should have been given free reign to pick their own players. I still believe that Mangini is a very strong "X's & O's" guy but couldn't pick a football player to save his life.

I tend to agree a bit. What he got in return for trading down so the Jets could pick Sanchize was a joke when you look at all of the other trades for draft day QBs.BR1986FB;1883656 wrote:I still contend that Mangini, like Butch Davis, would've been a pretty good coach if he kept his finger out of the personnel "pie." That was THE worst. You hear the phrase "set the franchise back" a lot but that really did. Butch's trade down to get Winslow was pretty bad too. By all accounts, and I know he's a POS, Roethlisberger was supposed to be the pick there. Same thing with the coach (Chris Palmer) prior to Butch. The pick was supposed to be Ladainian Tomlison, Palmer gets fired, and Butch picks Big Chumpy, Gerard Warren (I believe).like_that;1883658 wrote:I tend to agree a bit. SportsAndLadyYou can probably look at every year’s draft and say that was the worst draft and set us back. Because they’ve all been trash.
Hell, passing on Carson Wentz last year might be our biggest blunder ever. Wentz is going to be in the mvp discussion for the next 10 years and we passed on him for Corey Coleman, DeShone kizer, Cody Kessler, Ricardo Louis and a bunch of other busts.
SMH -
BR1986FBI'd say passing on TheRapist was a bigger blunder than the Wentz deal. Not only did they pass on a HOF QB, they also have to be his bitch twice a year. At least with Wentz, you only face him once every four years.

Crimson streakAs far as qb's in this draft, give me Rosen. He has that Phillip rivers type attitude that I absolutely love.

BR1986FBSounds like Hue seems to think the solution to all of their offensive woes is returning this Sunday.

Commander of AwesomeHue has "big plans" for Gordon huh? Said the same shit about Duke then gave him 6 touches. Said the same shit about Njoku who has like 15 targets on the season. Hue can STFU, needs to show me.

Commander of AwesomeIf anyone feels like being depressed, I'd recommend this very well written article.

Excellent article. Makes very good points. Is this front office perfect? Absolutely not but they are doing pretty well with the picks in the 1st 3 rounds. We might all be mad about not getting Wentz or any other qb's but I see the reason they didn't pull the trigger on them. This roster needed so much more than a qb and by trading back it helped acquire some of that talent faster. I think this is the year they go big on a qb. They have the draft picks to be able to have the luxury of taking a qb at 1 while also filling other positions with talent. I think the front office is here to stay with maybe Peyton coming in to give a little guidance but I don't expect hue to make it after this season and he absolutely shouldn'tCommander of Awesome;1883695 wrote:If anyone feels like being depressed, I'd recommend this very well written article.

I still stand by making that trade from selecting Julio. If Heckert/Homgren weren't pieces of shit and drafted t-rich/weeden we all would fall in love with that trade. Just look at the players they could have drafted that year. Julio would either be rotting on our team name while we go thru our endless QB carousel, he would have been traded, or he would have bolted via FA. -

I'm with you on that, hindsight I would have drafted JJ Watt.like_that;1883739 wrote:The article was pretty much a painful refresher for a story that most Browns fans already know.

I would have been ok with that too. I recall you being a fan of Watt during that draft. I am not sure if that was your #1 choice though.Commander of Awesome;1883769 wrote:Agreed. Wish Hue wasn't a sack of shit.

Yeah 2011 was a funny year. I wasn't sold on Cam Newton, loved AJ Green, Dareus and Von Miller. JJ Watt was next after that. I was also interested in Jake Locker....yikeslike_that;1883776 wrote:I would have been ok with that too. I recall you being a fan of Watt during that draft. BR1986FBYikes. Wouldn't doubt that there are similar stories among (current) players in the league but this shows (to me) that the guy can't be trusted. I want him to succeed but I'd bet against it....

We get it, you don’t think Gordon will finish his career without slipping up.BR1986FB;1883799 wrote:Yikes. Wouldn't doubt that there are similar stories among (current) players in the league but this shows (to me) that the guy can't be trusted. I want him to succeed but I'd bet against it....

Yeah come on BR. What is your obsession with Gordon? Every day you post that he’s going to slip up.like_that;1883801 wrote:We get it, you don’t think Gordon will finish his career without slipping up. -
like_thatI'd like to add, this isn't a situation where we all are being delusional and think nothing can go wrong. I don't think any of us would be shocked if he slipped up, but I also see no value added by continuously saying it.

friendfromlowryI’m actually excited to see what he does Sunday. I think it’s one extreme or another. Either has huge game or flops.

Was posting the article out of fascination as to how bad of a punk he was. Wasn't implying anyone here thought he might not slip up. Reason for my last "betting against it" comment was because I think his recent "come to Jesus" moment is a bunch of bullshit because he's broke. I want nothing more than for him to turn it around and become the playmaker they need.like_that;1883805 wrote:I'd like to add, this isn't a situation where we all are being delusional and think nothing can go wrong.
