Cleveland Cavaliers 2017-2018 Offseason

Last time I started this thread, the Cavs won the title. What limited moves will the Cavs be making?

This was posted in the other thread: http://amicohoops.net/nba-rumors-cleveland-cavaliers-david-griffin-dan-gilbert-lebron-james/

I have been a fan of Griffin since the Wiggins lottery when during an interview after winning the lottery he said he would trade himself if it meant making the team better.

Sign David Griffin is #1 priority.

#2, Call Indiana and see what it would take to get Paul George.

#3, put anyone not named KI/LBJ on the market particularly Shumpert.

#4, get rid of James Jones. Why? Because dude is pure shit, sign him as a coach if you want him there just for mentorship.

I've never been a big fan of trading Love, and he actually had several solid finals games. But last night was a joke. They can't pay him $22-25 million/annually to continue to do this.

    But will someone else?

They shouldn't, no. But maybe he's better off in a situation where he isn't the distant third best player.

I don't disagree at all. I think he's seriously on the table now.

I'd also kick the tires on Jimmy Butler as well.

I don't think the Bulls give him up but that would be a great add.

I could see a 3 way trade type deal involving either the lakers or celtics. With love and shump going to Boston or LA. The cavs getting George or butler and the 1 or 2 pick going to Indy or Chicago. Honestly it makes a lot of sense for all 3 teams

If Melo is bought out, I'd bet he winds up in Cleveland.

What were you saying the other day with the new CBA that TT's contract isn't that bad to try and trade?

    Wait, how?

LA: Give up #2 Pick, get Love and a bum
Cavs: Give up Love get PG
    IN: Get #2 pick

    Why would LA do that?
  • Ironman92
Love Butler's game...he does tend to miss 15 games a year but if healthy for that much and playoffs that would work.

What's the status of Gordon Hayward?

They almost traded him this season. I think he is very attainable

Correct, that is not an obstacle to dealing TT. I don't see why the cavs would though. TT ain't bringing back a PG/Butler/KD and he's still young, effective.

Also a possibility but honestly I don't want him.

There might be some other fillers but it makes sense for the lakers if they aren't sold on ball. You get an all star pf who played at ucla and is still pretty young and it speeds up there rebuild. The lakers want to be competitive now not later. I could easily see them doing that

No no. I'm not suggesting they trade him. Just wanted more info because I thought his contract would make it difficult even if they wanted to. Just wanted you to explain more the CBA part.

Agree. Hate his defense but also wonder if being in contention if his defense became a bit better....could definitely see him hitting some big shots in big playoff games. He's quickly running out of time.

To me he is interesting.....but about 3-4 others are better choices.

    They wouldn't. Absolutely stupid.

The question has to be answered though; Does TT help you beat the Warriors? Yes or no?

Hard to say if TT just had a bad series, but he was a pretty massive liability on the court because he wasn't able to get offensive rebounds and that's his whole game.

Does Kevin Love put them over the top to beat the Warriors? No. It's now a feast or famine league and either you go all in or you acquire young assets.

I can't see the Lakers moving this for just Love unless they plan on getting Love + other high priced assets.

No, he sucks. He's not even average. That's on LeBron for clamoring to get his boy paid.

    If it's
    LA: love and shump

    Cavs: butler

    Chicago: #2 pick.

To me that makes a lot of sense for everyone involved. The lakers speed up there rebuild and still have the space to go get Paul George next season that could make them a contender.
