2017 Browns Off-Season Thread

The offseason threads are much more entertaining than the season threads!

Anyways, Browns have released both Josh McCown and Tramon Williams.

Certainly less depressing unless you count the 2012-2014 drafts.

Not surprising moves, old guys that either never played well (McClown) or haven't played well as a brown (Williams).

Can't argue with either move. Have to keep building through the draft. They had a decent draft last year and hope they can put together a good one this year.

1)What will be the asking price from the Pats for Garappolo?
2)What would you be willing to give up for him?

Just seems like the asking price is going to be pretty steep or the Pats know something everyone else doesn't. Brady can't have that much more left in the tank. Then what's the plan if they ditch Garappolo?

I'll disagree. The guy played 1/4 less of the season than everyone else...and finished 2nd in MVP. He's got plenty in the tank. At least 2-3 more years. I'd trade Jimmy, and use that pick to get the best available OL.

I'd give the 12th pick for him.

Mike and Mike pretty interesting this morning on Brady/Garappolo/Cleveland/Bears

I'd probably lean this way. I feel like he's better than anything we could get at 12. In a perfect world...they trade back to around 20ish with someone who wants to get up to 12, and we pick up another 2nd round pick. Use that 20th on Garappolo.

Giving up the 12 sounds reasonable but I think the Patriots would want more than that. We shall see.

    I think so too.

    12th and a 4th rounder, call it a day.

We've got our QB and still own the #1 pick. I don't see how you can't be happy with that.

Can a trade for Garrapolo make him redo his contract for it to go through? I'm not sure if that makes sense, but I wouldn't want to give up 12 to get a QB for one year.

Yeah, I'm assuming if we make that trade it would come with a long term contract. Otherwise it'd be stupid.

Same, hard to overpay for a franchise QB.

2nd rounder is the most I'd give up for Jimmy. We don't have the luxury of trading away a high valued pick for a QB that could be just a Belicheck system benefiter like Cassel.

I also have a hard time trusting belichick in a trade. Normally when he trades his guys there is a reason...

I think in this case it's trading him to get something for him since he has value. The patriots know they won't be able to pay him big money in a year as a back up qb. Someone will give him a big contract in FA. Personally I think he will be a pretty successful qb. He makes quick decisions and is very knowledgeable. I'd take him for the 12 but would prefer a 2nd rounder

We guaranteed Haden's '17 contract today. Wouldn't have been surprised to see him sent packing, he's played like fucking garbage last 2 seasons.

    Browns resigned this jabroni: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/profiles/rannell-hall?id=2552601

Interesting to note that he was combine top performer that yr for Broad Jump and and Vertical.

That has to be just for WR right? 2015 was the year Bryon Jones was at the combine and he set the world record for board jump at over 12 feet.
