    +1

Either resign Crowell or grab a back in the draft and load up on defense in this draft.

Sign AP, and trade the 12th pick for Jimmy G, SUPER BOWL

Yeah, I doubt that. Garoppolo is pretty unproven but Cousins has a pretty good sample size. The starting asking price for Cousins is probably at least two 1st's. I'm now of the belief that, if you get your QB, there's no price that's really too steep (assuming he pans out), but I'd rather have Jimmy G and keep a few picks when he could be as good (or better).

Jimmy G could be absolute shit though outside of the Patriots system, see Matt Cassel. I have no faith he's a good QB.

The Redskins look to be in full rebuild mode but I doubt it would take 2 #1's to get the deal done since he wants out anyways. Maybe it would take the 12th and a 3rd/4th to get it done but that's well worth it. I would even do the 12th and next year's 2nd

AP would be interesting but he's made of paper. Can he play more than 3 games a season?

The problem is the Browns always load up on defense and then never can score the ball. We must adapt to the league and focus on offensive production. I'd rather be a team that scores 30 points a game and loses 35-30 than a team that scores 3 points a game and holds the other team to 10. Even other trash tier teams can muster a decent offense every few years but we seem to be focused only on drafting CBs and OLs and none of them ever turn out to be worth it(barring JT).

Cousins wants to be with his boy in SF and is a free agent next year...no thanks.

Any trade would have to include a long term deal. And Hoyer is already headed to SF so I don't think that's an option anymore.

JG was pretty highly touted coming out of college. He has a pretty quick release and seems to go through his progressions well. Even if they hadn't done what they did with the O-Line today, I still think he could've been successful here, in year one. I don't buy into the system QB thing in most cases. Except for Gronk, the Pat's receiving corps are usually shit sandwiches and it's Brady that makes them look better.

I think SF is willing to wait on him becoming a FA and signing him for nothing, bridging the gap with Hoyer.

I mean you can say that about any QB; how do most highly touted QBs turn out in the pros? Very few make it.

If the Patriots are really serious about trading him, it could easily be fool's gold.

Cousin's has proven himself and is worth pursuing even if it costs us more. He took a dog shit team in the Redskins and put them on the map.

Sure but no team is going to trade for him without the long term deal being in place.

Could also mean that it seems like Tom Brady has fooled Father Time and could play another 3+ years at a high level and the Pats don't want to spend $20+M to tag a backup QB next year?

The fact the pats haven't traded him by now tells me they are not serious about trading him because they know he's a good QB and you don't just give up good qbs. But if they get the 12th pick in the draft offered to them, I don't see how they refuse that.

And if they ask for the 12th + more picks, or if they ask for the number 1 overall pick, they can kindly go fuck themselves.

Also, I'd be okay with cousins if he'd sign a long term deal, but lets not pretend he's a superstar QB that will elevate this browns team. He's never won a playoff game, even with a decent surrounding cast. His best year was 9-7 if I'm not mistaken.

I'll take him, and he'd easily be our best QB we've had in decades, but I don't think we should sell the barn for him.

I agree. Same with JG. You don't give up all of those draft picks for Cousins or JG unless there's a deal in place. You'd end up looking like Gordon Gund when Carlos Boozer f#cked him without giving him a kiss when he walked.

Sounds like the Browns got him for only the contract? Hope he's the backup.

They got a 2017 6th round pick too

NFL stunner: Texans trade QB Brock Osweiler AND a 2018 second-round pick to Cleveland for the Browns to take Osweiler’s $16M salary of Houston’s books, per league sources. The move clears out millions in salary-cap space for Houston to intensify efforts to sign former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, per sources. To be exact, Houston saves $16 million in cash and $10 million against their cap this season. The Texans also will get the Browns’ fourth-round pick this year in excha...nge for their own 6th-round pick. So Cleveland gets Osweiler’s contract, a 2018 second-round pick and a 2017 sixth-round pick, and Houston gets Cleveland’s 2017 fourth-round pick, saves $10 million in salary-cap space and $16 million in cash. Cleveland is not committed to keeping Osweiler and is likely to try to trade him, per sources. If so, it would turn into a basketball-like trade in which NBA teams routinely trade contracts to get them off their books; only it rarely, if ever, happens in the NFL. It’s hard to remember in the salary-cap era another team when a team traded a contract to get it off its books. But Houston was so anxious to rid itself of Osweiler and move on to its next quarterbacking chapter that it is giving Cleveland extra picks to take him and his contract. The Browns headed into this free-agent signing period with over $100 million worth of salary-cap space and would struggle to spend it all. Now they can devote some of it to Osweiler’s contract and acquiring extra draft picks from Houston. But this is one of the most, if not the most, creative trade in NFL history.

    Interesting trade.

Osweiler sucks so hopefully they find someone to take him.

Very interesting... So they basically are taking his contract in exchange for a 2nd round pick. Romo to the Texans now right?

Pretty much. We also give up our 4th rounder this year in exchange for their 6th rounder.

I doubt the Browns keep Brock either so potentially we net something else too.

And if they don't, who cares....cut him. Doesn't the team trading eat the bonus?
