    We're probably getting David Price.

DBacks are the third team involved.

    Getting a LHP Holmberg.

    So basically a salary dump.

BP staying tells me they either can't find someone to take him...or now that the Yankees have signed Ellsbury, there is little shot at getting Choo back. I'm almost positive now that he'll be with the Red Sox next year.

Good, and I doubted that they were actually going to get it done. They would have to ask for quite a bit.

This probably lights a fire under BP, and that is a good thing.

I think the Reds are going to regret not trading BP...He doesn't fit the mold of this team and I don't think he and Price are going to see eye to eye. Price won't let him get away with the stuff Dusty did.

That very well could be true, but I dont think they will regret not trading him. Drove in over 100 (.338 RISP before people start saying it was only because Votto and Choo got on all the time) and very good defense. I dont think that trading him was going to do much to make up for what you would lose.

You weren't going to get anything back from BP that would equal what he produces. Moving him would have been nothing more than shaving salary to throw at someone like Choo. By keeping him, it's pretty much guaranteed that our high dollar players for the foreseeable future are BP and Votto.

    and a new hitting coach.
    Did we know that already?
  • TedSheckler
Yea, he was hired a while ago.
  • thavoice
Gotcha. I knew it was a given he was gonna be gone, but couldnt remember if they had hired a new one yet. Thank God.
  • justincredible
I think we knew the new bench, hitting, and pitching coach a while ago. I had no idea on the rest of the staff until today.
  • sherm03
Pretty bummed out that Berry is gone.

Just talked to Walt Jocketty -- Mark Berry felt it was best for him not to come back as 3B coach. #Reds hope to keep him in organization

Anyone else going to Redsfest this weekend?

Not this year. Went the last couple though.

WIth Arroyo gone, hence no concert, and they said BP wasnt going to be there it took some of the flair away from it.

Thought I read he wasnt gonna be there..may have been in this thread because they then speculated he was being traded. Maybe the recent news that the team isnt going to move him changed his mind.

Oh well...My fav part was the stuff that goes on stage. Fuck that standing in line for an autograph, and to be honest, some of those adults that show up need to get a life!

Since, before he got his hair cut, Leake was kind of a young Arroyo in vague appearance, they could just give him a guitar and a stage and tell him to make something happen.
