I can't really say I would justify giving bailey that much money. They must expect he is going to do some big things these next few seasons.

Lazy year he'd have had a crazy win loss record and numbers would have looked better if he had gotten ANY run support.

That's from Jamie Ramsey's twitter. And those are the runs reds scored in baileys starts in which reds lost.

I still wouldn't pay him 105 mil. Maybe a shorter deal worth 40 mil.

It could pay off, but 105 mil is a hell of a lot of money for potential .

So we gave $105 to someone who is unlucky? He also had to have Hanigan behind the plate who was atrocious on offense last year...not helping his run support much. He also had a lot of not good games that he lost and decent pitching gets him a chance at a win.

I hope he keeps improving....I already stated my $100 million expectations, they are very reasonable IMO.

I fully trust Homer's stuff....I do not trust his head, but he came a ways last season.

It's well within' what the market is giving right now, and what the market will be 6 years from now. Actually, he's going to be really cheap compared to what other pitchers like him will be making the next couple years, as he's only getting 9M this year, and 10M next year.

Yea, his head has always been the problem, but I think he's really matured the last couple years. Obviously his stuff is there, you don't throw multiple no-hitters without it.

    I need to see 90+ wins, 900+ K, 1150+ inn

    And 4+ playoff wins
    My expectations

Those should be pretty easy for him to meet, if he stays healthy, with seasons just like he had last year. We'll see if he gets the opportunities for the playoff wins.

Bailey is my favorite Reds player so I definitely approve of the deal.

bad deal imo...i could be wrong it wouldnt be the first time. too much money and too long a deal for a guy who is inconsistent to say the least

Same. Love me some homer. Mainly because I always picture him in my head as homer from October sky so it makes me like him.

It is a risk, but I think a good, calcuated risk.

The last three seasons his numbers have steadily improved in almost every facet of his game. He is now in the mid 3 ERA's which is great. He is still realtively young and going into his prime. The reds ran the risk of him leaving or having to pay him alot more if he takes another step this season. Plus, he is a product of the reds system. Teams like to take care of their own homegrown when they can to prove they made the right moves.

I don tmind the 6 years. Yeah, could be shorter but the team has to give in on things.

WIth Cueto and Latos coming up in the not too distant future it wsa good to get one of them locked up. One will be gone but I think a 2nd can be signed.

I like the deal. Think it was fair both ways.

I have always said...you cannot teach power. He is a young, strong pitcher with upper 90's FB. That is someting you cannot teach and barring injury is something that should stay with him for the lengthy of the deal. Sure, we would like to see him be more consistant just like we would like to see Jay Bruce be more consistant but that is the nature of the game...ups and downs. A hitter goes into a slump for a week and it isnt a big deal, but when a pitcher lays an egg or two it looks worse.

You have to look at baseball contracts differently. If the owners are willing to pay, it's hard to call a contract bad. I mean, what are the chances Clayton Kershaw is going to be worth 30M/yr for the next 7 seasons? It's rare for a pitcher to be that good for that long, but the Dodgers don't care, because they have plenty of money to eat the contract if it doesn't work out. I would much rather have an owner that will overpay, than an owner that won't pay like the Dolan's.

    Great point.

It could flop, but it could end up being a great contract for the reds in a few years if he inches closer to that 3 era. His WHIP is good, k's are good, k/bb ratio good, over 200 ip and can do more. The upside on him is very good and they know at least one of the three they will not be able to resign so why not get HB before he can open the bank.
Now I just hope Marty and Homer can kiss and make up.

One thing about the Reds. They have been steadfast over the last 5 years. They WILL pay to keep their talent. They really haven't "cheaped out" at all since Castellini bought the team.

Batting your best power hitter in the cleanup spot? What a novel concept!
Manager Bryan Price on the ‪#‎Reds‬ lineup: "I think Jay (Bruce) is that prototype No. 4 hitter. He's continuing to get better. So putting him in a position to drive in runs and getting him another several at-bats over the course of the season and in run-scoring opportunities hitting behind a guy who gets on base a lot in Joey, it's not the worst thing."

WLW had a good long interview with Bailey this weekend. Good lil chat.
Hoping that any rift between him and station is long forgotten.

    Games start soon...cannot fucking wait.

Love that Price is thinking Bruce may be in the 4 slot. I think that is outstanding especially if JV continues to be good against lefties.

    Action starts tomorrow.
Lineup looks like it could on opening day....with the exception of the SP of course

In his first Spring Training game as a manager, Price has already put a lineup out there that makes more sense than any lineup Dusty put out there.

Anyone going to Opening Day? Bought my tickets yesterday.

I'm sure I'll be there somewhere. Company gets tickets every year and I've been the past 5 years so I'm sure I will. Where are your seats?

View box. Section 432, I think.
