Cleveland Browns 2011 Super Awesome In-Season Thread

Which really leaves Cleveland with just a couple logical options: Quinn or Jones

    2.) Denver - Marcell Dareus
    3.) Buffalo - Blaine Gabbert

Then that gives Cleveland the chance to pick Peterson.

Agreed. If we get to Peterson we take him. But odds are it will be Julio Jones... Quinn is to much of a ?

Logically, I'd think the same thing. But Fitzgerald gave an interview where he said he was confident the Cardinals wouldn't be taking a QB. That tells me he either has inside info, or he's let them know in a not so subtle way that he's gone if they stick him with another "developing" passer.

I like Quinn but a brain tumor in a pro football player is unheard of....

Seriously....i hope peterson falls to us. If not...i want green or jones. I just think they are the only "difference makers" in this draft. I think the dline draft is good, but deep...so that could be addressed in the 2nd round with not much fall off.

Here is my cousins round 1 mock draft. He also wrote a 123 draft guide on as many top players as he could. It is almost a page each of the top 10 players at each position plus more. If anyone is interested, send me a message with your email address and I can send it to you. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Not sure I want to read a draft guide written by someone who doesn't know where Cam Newton attended college.
  • iclfan2
Well here is what he wrote about Newton, I agree that one place he messed up the school. He knows what he is talking about though. And although I hate Grossi, Grossi uses some of his stuff.

    2. CAMERON NEWTON | Auburn 6-5|248 lbs|4JR College Park, GA (Westlake HS) 5/11/1989 (age 21) #2
A one-year starter, Cameron “Cam” Newton was a top-20 QB recruit out of HS and chose Florida over Oklahoma and Mississippi State. He saw action in 2007 as a true freshman as the back-up QB to Tim Tebow (5 games played/0 starts), finishing 5/10 (50.0%) for 40 yds, adding 103 rush yds (6.4) and 3 TDs. As a sophomore, Newton lost the back-up role to QB John Brantley in 2008 (1 gp/0 st), playing briefly in the season opener, but didn’t play the rest of the season and ended up redshirting. Deciding he didn’t want to wait behind Tebow and because of some off-field issues, Newton decided to transfer from Gainesville in 2009 and ended up at Blinn Junior College (TX), leading the Buccaneers to the 2009 NJCAA National Championship. In 2010, he became the top rated JUCO prospect and decided to enroll at Auburn over Mississippi State. Newton put together one of the most dominant seasons in 2010 as a junior for the Tigers (14 gp/14 st), finishing 185/280 (66.1%) for 2,854 yds and a 30/7 TD/INT ratio, adding 1,473 rush yds (5.6) on 264 carries and 20 TDs, earning First Team All-SEC honors and several awards including the Heisman Trophy and the Davey O’Brien, Manning, Maxwell and Walter Camp Awards. To no surprise, he decided to skip his senior season and enter the 2011 NFL Draft.
STRENGTHS: Newton has a large, wide frame with elite measureables. He is an above average athlete with excellent running instincts and field vision. Newton is a dangerous running threat with great start/stop ability, COD and elusiveness for his size, avoiding tacklers with ease and wiggling out of tacklers’ grasp. He moves around effortlessly in the pocket and has impressive burst and acceleration when he decides to tuck the ball and run – long strider who takes large steps. Newton has cannon arm strength with a flick of his wrist and can make all of the NFL throws with excellent zip. He has very good body control, balance and coordination and is a natural, savvy runner – great strength and power as a short-yardage guy to run over defenders. Newton stands tall in the pocket with great height to scan the entire field. He is a tough guy to bring down in the open field and shows an explosive second gear. Newton has solid mechanics with a quick delivery and impressive ball fakes – throws a very catchable ball. He is patient and poised in the pocket, rarely seeming rattled. Newton improved his awareness and touch as the 2010 season went on and seemed to get better with each start. He is mentally and physically tough and showed impressive focus considering all the outside distractions this past year. Newton has a lot of confidence in his ability and has a positive swagger to his game that is contagious to his teammates around him. He put together one of the best seasons in NCAA history in 2010, leading Auburn the National Title, earning several notable awards (including the Heisman Trophy) and became just the second QB in college football history with 20+ rush TDs and 20+ pass TDs in the same season (Tim Tebow, 2007).
WEAKNESSES: Newton is still raw as a passer, not throwing with consistent fundamentals – too often gets lazy and abandons his technique. He has inconsistent footwork, too often throwing flat footed or not setting his feet before delivering. Newton’s accuracy and ball placement is very hot/cold and a work-in-progress – needs to do a better job of hitting targets in stride and showing better anticipation as a passer. He has the tendency to stare down targets and rush through his delivery – needs to work on his timing, especially when pressured. Newton has a slight wind-up motion and has room to clean up his delivery, but this isn’t a huge concern. He thrived in a read option offense in college and wasn’t asked to take snaps from under center, work through his progressions and read defenses as he drops back. Newton looks to run too quickly and was feared more for his legs than his arm at the college ranks. He has some durability concerns because of the amount of hits to his body – he takes some punishment (264 rush attempts in 2010). Newton carries some strong character concerns as off-field issues seemed to follow him throughout his college career – he was arrested in Nov. 2008 for a laptop theft (charges eventually dropped) and dealt with eligibility concerns this entire past season due to his father asking for money in return for his son to play at their school (Newton found to have no knowledge of his father’s dealings). There are also questions about his work ethic and commitment to putting in the necessary prep – does he have the first guy in the building/last to leave mentality?
OVERALL: Newton is a freakishly gifted athlete for his size (bigger than most DEs) and moves well in the pocket, buying time with his legs and running like a tank, but he had the luxury of playing behind a veteran OL and talented supporting cast at Auburn. He throws a pretty ball and can make all the NFL throws, but he also abandons his mechanics easily and fails to set his feet which leads to accuracy issues. Newton has a charismatic and engaging personality, but his sketchy character history raises strong concerns about his decision-making and reliability. He put up video game-like stats last season and showed up with several clutch performances, but he didn’t play in a pro-style offense – he wasn’t asked to take snaps from under center, sit in the pocket and go through multiple progressions. Newton is a tough player to project because there are a lot of factors to consider and, like Ben Roethlisberger and Vince Young, it isn’t always pretty, but he produces, wins and shows leadership qualities on the field – a borderline top-20 pick in my opinion, but I’d be shocked if he fell out of the initial top-3 picks.
    PROJECTION: 1st-2nd Round COMPARISON: Ben Roethlisberger/Vince Young WORKOUT RESULTS: 4.59 40-YD DASH // 35” V // 10’6” BJ // 6.92 3C // 4.18 SS

I think the top 10 or so will play out more like that then that crap McShay & Co. are putting out there.

Cant win in this league without a QB. You can thank Holmgren and Heckert for the mess you're in. Delhomme and Wallace lmao.hahahaaaaa

It seems like the Cardinals have to take a quarterback. I cant imagine that they would go into next season with what they have, maybe they plan on making a run at Kobb or VY

If you think McCoy is a starting QB in the NFL than you are dumber than Holmgren.

Considering he hasn't even played a full NFL season neither one of us really know. But what I do know is we don't have a rapist as a qb

Kinda funny how the OC's resident retard made a comment to the effect of he was "impressed with" or "surprised in how well McCoy played" (these aren't exact quotes but his comments regarding McCoy WERE favorable if I recall) when the Browns met the Steelers yet now we see stuff like "If you think McCoy is a starting QB in the NFL than you are dumber than Holmgren." Typical spin from the mental midget.

EDIT:This was from the Steelers/Browns thread (first game)...
