Yeah he was in studio for the Scott Van Pelt show, and was talking about that. Said some kids on the team tweeted him asking him to sponsor their team. It was only $400 so he was down for it. Their team name is "Haden Nation," lol and he said he is going to try to make their games. Those kids are probably excited.BR1986FB;747107 wrote:He's just a great dude. I heard that out of the blue he decided to sponsor some Little League baseball team....(shhhh....don't say "little" and "baseball team" TOO loud...Ben might be around. )

if any other players turn like our last two draft picks from the respected schools then ill take them but i hope watt doesnt turn out like Wendell Bryant the last Whiskey defense linemen drafted in the first.BR1986FB;747029 wrote:No problem with that but I'd probably go with JJ Watt over Jordan. -
BR1986FBDidn't listen to Heckert's presser but it sounds like if the guy they like is off the board and Gabbert is still available the farthest they will trade down is to #12 with Minnesota. Washington would also be a viable option at #10 but I don't think they have a 2nd.

Mr MiyagiI really think the Browns will try to trade down. If the Cardinals pick Peterson , the Vikings may be calling wanting Gabbert which would help with their new stadium bid/new city.
If the Cards pick Gabbert and Peterson is there at 6, 49ers, Texans will be calling. The Eagles are also drooling over Peterson. How far are you guys willing to trade down ? Do you take the Eagles 23 pick and target a DL ? Take the 11 or 12 pick ? Or do you stick at 6 and grab Peterson ? I still think he would be hard to turn down with what other teams will probably be offering.
How confident is everybody that there will be a draft after this Brady law suit ? Might keep some teams from trading for future draft picks. -

If Heckert does this you might as well change his name to "Eric Mangini." This would be a horrible move. Unless it's a smokescreen, he said he has a "comfort level" of how far they will trade down before they get to the "next level" of talent. I think that sweet spot in Minny's pick at 12. -
Commander of AwesomeI dont want to trade down, esp since we can't trade for players and picks for next year's draft are buyer beware.

zach24ozI still say if Peterson is there, they have to take him! Yes having AJ Green or Julio Jones would be nice, but to possibly have 2 lock down corners would be very nice to have. But if Peterson is taken a spot or two ahead of them and Gabbert is on the board I could see them trading down a few spots to gain more picks and they could still draft Julio Jones. They could trade one of their second round picks and others to either get back in towards the end of the 1st and get a DT but I think that there would still be a couple nice DL when they pick in the 2nd round.
-
like_thatI am all for trading down as long as we get that team's first round pick the following year.

I'd settle for their 2nd and maybe a player thrown in if the Browns could get it. -
wes_mantoothDon't you guys think that there will be less trading this year because of the uncertainty of next years season? I have a feeling that the only trades we will see will be with this current years picks.

BR1986FBMost likely...

Is that legal (assuming the lock-out is still active during the draft?) -

Yeah, you're probably right. I was in "just a normal season" mode not taking the lockout into consideration. -
royal_kYeah under the current circumstances, you can't trade players or future picks. That's why I don't think we'll see much moving around in this draft, unless some miracle happens in the next week.

KR1245If Peterson is available and the Browns pass on him I'm going to throw my TV through the window.

somebody needs to be fired if that situation plays itself out. i don't care if it's a waterboy or a janitor, somebody's job should be in peril if we're being stupid -

+1 -
OhioStatePride2003If Peterson is there, and we don't take him - I'll be upset. A secondary with Peterson, Haden, and Ward would give us one of the youngest secondaries in the league obviously, but that's a real solid line-up for years to come. I'm not too worried about our WRs. Clearly we need a playmaker for Colt to throw the ball too, but I think our transition to the WCO will favor our young wideouts, and while they won't be superstars by any stretch of the imagination, they'll be - at a minimum - serviceable.
I think next year's draft class at WR is going to be at least as good as this year's class. Justin Blackmon should come out (which in my opinion would've been the top WR in this year's class). Michael Floyd out of Notre Dame, Jeff Fuller out of Texas A&M, Ryan Broyles out of Oklahoma, Greg Childs out of Arkansas, and Dwight Jones out of UNC are all WRs in next year's class that I think are going to be outstanding 'go to guys' in the NFL. There's a lot of speed receivers in next year's draft too - Daramis Johnson (Tulsa), Chris Rainey (Florida), Bert Reed (FSU), and Travis Benjamin (Miami) are all receivers that could stretch the field and give you a legitiment deep threat. (Of course a lot can change in a year, but early reports are that those guys have run in the 4.3 range).
I think we should draft defense early, whether it's Peterson, J.J. Watt, Quinn, etc. (Basically anyone of Fairley and Bowers). IF we do something stupid like trade down to the bottom half of the 1st Round, personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the Browns go OL with that pick (i.e. if we take Philly's pick). I don't think we necessarily have to grab Jones or Green to find a playmaker at WR. There are going to be WRs, that are going to be great, and can be had in the later rounds - Leonard Hankerson (Miami), Jerrel Jernigan (Troy), and Titus Young (Boise St.) all come to mind.
Terrence Toliver (LSU) has height (6'4) and reportedly caught everything thrown to him at his pro day. LSU's passing game was horrid last year, so his production wasn't there but he runs a legit 4.5 and has great hands. Toliver, Cecil Shorts (Mount Union), and Greg Little (UNC) are my top three sleeper picks at WR this year with Toliver potentially being the best of the three. Mel Kiper and Co. aren't talking much about these guys, but I think they could be outstanding receivers in the league. But of course, this is just my opinion. -

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought there was no future trading at all.
