Here's the deal, imo. This is ALL about the "evaluation process."OQB;1008542 wrote:How have the Browns won 4 games this season? THey are fucking pathetic....
They want to see what they have at QB, RG/LG & WR this year. If they want to "evaluate" they are going to play McCoy the whole year, let him tie his own noose, and say "he didn't progress"...then draft a QB. If they wanted to actually "win", Seneca Wallace would've been in there long ago. -

Maybe deydurkie, and footwedge, but that was about it. Other than those wishful predictions, most fans had the Browns best possible scenario at 8-8, but realistically in the 5-6 range.Scarlet_Buckeye;1008680 wrote:And many of us thought they would be 7-0 at the beginning of the year, perhaps even 8-0. -

I believe i had them at 8-8 at best, but I figured they would win 6 and at least improve on last years fucking total smh. There are a lot of games (as there were last year), where you can look back and say the Browns should have won. So, 8-8 was not that far fetched, but I guess it was since it isCleveland.BR1986FB;1008697 wrote:I had em, optimistically, at 7-9. -

I gotta be honest, I think they would have about 6 wins right now if Wallace were the QB. This sounds sad but I don't thing "winning" is the objective as much as the previously mentioned "evaluating." But Wallace isn't their future and you might as well leave McCoy in there and not mess up your draft slot (not my opinion but could be the thoughts of management).like_that;1008714 wrote:I believe i had them at 8-8 at best, but I figured they would win 6 and at least improve on last years fucking total smh. This is part of the reason I think they pulled Wallace after 2 plays. I bet he would've gotten them in the end zone. In the end the Browns, just like James Harrison, are likely going to be paying a fine for sending McCoy back on the field and "jeopardizing" his future. My understanding in his post game presser was that he "didn't remember the play (Harrison cheap shot)" and there were no bright lights allowed in his interview. Yet Pat sent him back out there. -

I def agree about the evaulation year. It was pretty evident before the season started, when they decided not to sign anybody. I am not sure if this team is 2 wins better with Wallace. Let's not forget he cost the Browns a win or two last year. I think any QB was going to be screwed with Shurmurs scheme.BR1986FB;1008724 wrote:I gotta be honest, I think they would have about 6 wins right now if Wallace were the QB. I also agree about McCoy. I told my friends as soon as he came back in, that it was a dumb move, and it clearly showed. He did not look like he knew where he was. I guess that 50k fine will be worth it for Harrison, because his cheap shot won them the game. -
BR1986FBHopefully, as a repeat offender, there's a suspension to go with Harrison's fine.

there has to be. ATLEAST two games. if the nfl doesn't shame on godell.BR1986FB;1008737 wrote:Hopefully, as a repeat offender, there's a suspension to go with Harrison's fine. -

I doubt it. Goodell has gone soft unfortunately. Too many crybabies, and he is finally giving them what they want. He allowed Mclain to play 3 days after he held a gun at some guys head for crying out loud. He allowed Cedric to play 6-7 games before reducing his suspension to 1 game, and I still haven't heard anything about Simpson trying to sell a boat load of weed.BR1986FB;1008737 wrote:Hopefully, as a repeat offender, there's a suspension to go with Harrison's fine. -
Commander of AwesomeThat's ridiculous. Should be kicked out of the league IMO. At least the rest of the season including post season if they make it. Its "mindboggling" that they allow that idiot thug to continue and play.

AutomatikWhy does everyone say Shumer's job is so secure? Is he tight with Holmgren?
-
BR1986FB
Nepotism. Shurmur's uncle, Fritz, worked for Holmgren and Holmgren and Shurmur share the same agent. He isn't going anywhere for awhile.Automatik;1008777 wrote:Why does everyone say Shumer's job is so secure? Is he tight with Holmgren? -
Commander of AwesomeHolmgren didn't even fire erica womangini after the worst season I have ever witnessed as a browns fan. Thinks a coach needs more than one yr.
-
BR1986FB
Which is bullshit. Mangini was a dead man walking yet Holmgren wasted a year keeping him around.Commander of Awesome;1008785 wrote:Holmgren didn't even fire erica womangini after the worst season I have ever witnessed as a browns fan. Thinks a coach needs more than one yr. -
SportsAndLadyIf Shurmur has another 4-12 season next year, they'll can Shurmur...don't listen to BR, he just hates Holmgren and is a tad bit blinded right now.
New head coach starts out 2 seasons in a row shitty, they'll can him. -
sleeperColt is not the answer. And drafting WR's in the 1st round is not the answer either. We need to find a QB who can make all the throws, and that is either Andrew Luck or Barkley. We also could use a 1st round LB talent.
Grab a WR after you've addressed those needs first. -
Pick6You could put Tom Brady on this team, but it doesnt mean shit if he doesnt have WR's who can catch.
Not to mention the line has been hit with injuries and shitty all year. The RBs have been trash. You guys are expecting him to be some world beater. 2 games were lost on last second field goal botches, and one was lost on a blown coverage. Flop those 3 games around and you are 7-6..just saying.
And why would you want to take a another lock down corner high? The pass defense is actually somewhat legit. The run defense is ranked 31st... -
BR1986FB
Wut? I don't "hate" Holmgren and I said Shurmur wasn't going anywhere for "awhile" meaning he likely isn't getting canned THIS year. If he has additional talent next year and lays another 4-12 egg, sure...he'll be gone. The front office can't "sell" back to back 4-12 seasons and moving forward with him.SportsAndLady;1008896 wrote:If Shurmur has another 4-12 season next year, they'll can Shurmur...don't listen to BR, he just hates Holmgren and is a tad bit blinded right now.

Crimson streakHonestly if Barkley is there you take him. I would take burfect with the 2nd first rounder and then get Kendall wright from Baylor with the 2nd rounder. That fills 3 needs with 3 picks and would improve this team by a lot. Then either find o line in free agency or a proven receiver in v jack or desean or colston

LOL...because the opposition doesn't NEED to pass plus, prior to Schaub & Big Jen, they hadn't faced a truly legit passing QB. If the Drama Queen doesn't get his whittle ankle "boo boo" last night he probably dices the Browns secondary for about 400 yards.Pick6;1008906 wrote:And why would you want another lock down corner? So you waste a high pick on something that you THINK might be a problem and ignore something that you KNOW is a problem. Makes sense.BR1986FB;1008926 wrote:LOL...because the opposition doesn't NEED to pass plus, prior to Schaub & Big Jen, they hadn't faced a truly legit passing QB. I really like Burfect, but a lot of mocks have him going in the 2nd. Might not be worth it to use a 1st on him.Crimson streak;1008921 wrote:Honestly if Barkley is there you take him. If we can get him in the 2nd that would be amazing then we could use the 1st 2 picks on a qb then a wr or o line. I honestly can say if Barkley and luck are gone by time we pick I would be tempted at taking Claiborne . The combo of him and Haden could be the best in the league -
WriterbuckeyeDespite the "bend but don't break" style last night, this defense still gave up over 400 yards, even with three Steelers turnovers.
Yes, they played with a bit more fire and pride last night, but the outcome was the same.
If the training staff put McCoy back in the game with a concussion last night (and it seems obvious they did), they the Browns need to be fined and whoever made the call that he was okay needs to be canned. Like him or not, you don't put a player at-risk like that...and it doesn't matter whether McCoy wanted to go back in or not. If he's concussed, you sit him.
I'm now officially not sure about the draft. I guess it will depend on how they approach free agency -- but best available player might be the way to go, regardless. -
DeyDurkie5im really excited for this draft. there is just no way barkley will be available wherever we pick. it's as simple as that.
