browns will be selecting 6th-9th range. you really think 5 teams finishing in the bottom of the league are going to pass on barkley? Use that fire hair to spark some logic

Actually the Browns are on pace to finish with the 5th draft pick. 3 of the 4 teams in front of them recently spent a high draft pick on a QB and the other one is a sure fire guarantee to take Luck(the Colts). Barkley may as well just fall in our lap.

who are the teams ahead of them?

    Colts
    St. Louis
    Minnesota
    Jacksonville

I do realize there's like a 12 way tie for 5th, but looking at our schedule I don't see us beating anyone besides the Cardinals and that's a maybe at best.

yeah im looking at them now. curently 5 teams at 4-8 right now and 2 of those would be legetimate picks to draft barkely. I see the browns losing out, so they will be 4-12. dolphins, washington, and maybe even tampa bay?

Also the ATL pick is going to be in the early 20's late teens, so not great but not terrible either.

All 5 of those teams will win at least 1 more game of their last 4. The Browns won't. That's why I gave us the edge in getting the 5th pick and drafting Barkley.

Either way, the Browns will probably be terrible next year as well, but at least with a competent QB back there and a stud LB we'll win more than 4 games.
  • OQB
They need to go out and sign the best FA WR they can this offseason, draft a QB and another young WR and make this offense atleast look like an NFL one...the shit they are displaying on an NFL field is pathetic.

You take BPA. You don't draft for need or you end up reaching.

Browns will likely select 4th or 5th and the teams above them, except Indy won't need a QB. They would have to worry about someone trading up to leapfrog them.
  • OQB
I could see the Jaguars taking a QB...just a hunch I have because I'm not sure they are confident with Gabbert. I hope they don't though.

If he has additional talent next year and lays another 4-12 egg, sure...he'll be gone. The front office can't "sell" back to back 4-12 seasons and moving forward with him.
Lol i'm pretty sure calling him an overweight paycheck stealer means you hate him..

No offense BR, cuz you're a very knowledgeable browns fan..but you're animosity towards the staff/front office right now is blinding your perception of the players.

Unlikely. How often does this actually happen in the top 5 picks? I think we get Barkley, book it!
  • OQB
IF we get barkely it's a win win for us.....

IF and that's a big IF Colt is the guy, then we have either a, a solid backup or b, trade bait to fill more holes. (See Eagles with McNabb/Vick/Kolb)

Might want to check out my comments from about 5am this morning on the "Factory of Sadness" thread.

sort of like the Browns did for Taylor last draft? Seems to be working out pretty well for them.

I admittedly have not read that thread...it'll only depress me even further lol

You know I love ya BR, I just don't think you're thinking clearly lately haha I think this organization is finally starting to crumble you!

On Heckert's board, he was the BPA. There were a few teams who were interested in him around that slot.

Drafting for need results in reaching. If there's a Ray Lewis on the board you're telling me you're going to draft a WR just because you "need" them? No.

Oh, I love Heckert and think he's this teams future. I think Holmgren isn't much more than a figurehead to be honest. That being said, I don't think the "figurehead" will allow this organization to "crash & burn." His ego is too big and his reputation in the NFL would be severely tarnished if this "genius" with the NFL pedigree couldn't right the ship.

I think they are doing A LOT of things right but I really don't think this 3rd round QB is going to make waves in this division.

I was at a bar with a ton of Steelers fans, and a ton of NY Giants/Jets fans...not one had anything negative to say about Colt McCoy's performance last night. They said over and over again that he plays with heart and that they believe he can win in Cleveland. They said his arm strength looked better than normal and that while he made some iffy decisions, overall his decision making was good. Pointed out that his weapons around him garbage and the system sucks too.

These are completely non-biased individuals w/ their opinion on him. Even on the thread last night, some Steelers fans on here were giving him props for his performance. The guy isn't as bad as you think, BR. Just give him a year w/ some weapons..if he doesn't pan out, he doesn't pan out.

Nope, sorry. I know he's tough & has heart. Just can't make all of the throws.

Seeing is believing and I didn't see the same as you last night. I saw a guy who underthrew Evan Moore and got the ball picked by Polamalu. I saw a guy who was throwing floaters when his backup came in for two plays and the zip on his passes were night & day. I saw a guy who looked like utter crap once he got in the red zone.

I don't want "moxie." I don't wan't a "gamer" or any of those other douchebag sayings. Insert Colt's brain/football knowledge, toughness, heart, etc into Derek Anderson's body (I want no part of DA's brain or lack of accuracy in this equation) and THEN we'll have something.

When the snow/wind flys in NE Ohio, it won't matter WHAT offense Shurmur runs with this kid at QB because it will be shut down to strictly running and VERY short passes because he won't be able to make the throws.

That's even if Barkley is going to declare. It's sounding more and more like he will stay for another year. USC is gearing for a national title run next year.

And there's the rub. If Barkley stays put and they can't trade up for a Luck, THEN fill your other holes. RG3 is good but I'm skeptical and Landry Jones is a bearded clam when he gets a little pressure in his face. Folds like a cheap lawnchair. The Weeden "kid" is about 100 years old so pass on him too. At that point you likely have to suffer with McCoy another season.

If the QB isn't close to "can't miss" there's no sense in risking taking another McCoy.
