Cavs Continue to Roll in Preseason
-
FootwedgeBlowing out yet another team tonight....rolling to a 5-2 record. I'd love to see how fast the "Cavs will not make the playoffs" crowd chime in on their utter ignorance regarding this subject.
Where ya at Jordo?
Cavs will will win over 45 games this year and easily make the playoffs. -
Hb31187hanging your hat on a preseason record....really?
-
KR1245Preseason doesnt mean anything
With that being said.......I dont think the Cavs will be as bad as people think. -
wes_mantoothlove the enthusiasm footwedge, but I don't see it happening. I still see them as a 30 win team.
-
karen lotzDo preseason games count in the standings?
-
gerb131They have some players for sure. All they need is Melo man and they are shoe ins for the 4 seed.
-
karen lotzHow will the team make the playoffs with Jamison on the roster??
-
KR1245I can see this team winning between 40 and 45 games as well. I like the uptempo style of ball that they play, these guys just get it and go, it makes for some exciting basketball. They dont have a superstar and will probably play a 10 man rotation on a nightly basis.
I'm interested to see how Boobie plays this year, it sounds like Scott really likes the way he plays and plans on using him quite a bit.
I think Sessions is going to be a nice addition as well.
Cavs over Celtics next weds -

Cause Jamison is a solid player? -
sleeper25 games maximum. The problem isn't the talent, the problem is the type of talent and I don't see how people don't understand this. It's fixable, but we need a ball dominating point forward(at this point I'll take a ball dominating point guard), and those aren't easy to find.

gerb13125 is low its still the East

You must not remember Footwedge blasting Jamison (Poontawn) after he was acquired last year. I, and pretty much 99% of the people on here, realize Jamison is very solid. -
sleeperThe East is the same as the West. The one sided conference is a myth, always has been.
-
RotinajI see them winning 60-65 games. Larry Hughes will average a triple double.
-
gerb131And the North and South are the same. West is overall better by far. New Jersey/Detroit are the absolute worst.
-
jordo212000haha wow. Are we really bragging about preseason wins & losses? Ok...?
I think you misunderstood a lot of my posts from last year. I wasn't the only guy going against the grain. I had a few counter arguments during the Lebron suckfest that was going on last year and I instantly became public enemy #1. Many times I just pointed out the irony of certain Cavalier fans posts.(Remember how cool it was that Cleveland made a mural for Lebron, but for any other city that sort of move was a desperation move? And how Lebron was never leaving? Or what about Cavs fans dismissing the Celtics the whole year and then starting a thread predicting their demise? Who was the one cautioning against that? Hmmmm)
The fact is, I'm a pretty unbiased NBA fan, I call it like I see it. I don't really have a rooting interest. I guess because I don't see the Cavaliers as anything more than a 25 win team, I'm a hater -

New Jersey finishes with a better record than Cleveland. You heard it right here. The Nets are better than you think. -
KR1245The Nets will be improved, I'm still not sold on that team. They have some nice pieces in Harris and Lopez along with some decent players like Murphy and Outlaw. I think the Cavs finish with a slightly better record.
It will be nice to see a Cavs team that moves the basketball. Bron is a great player but I'm glad that the days of watching him hold the ball at the top of the key and chuck up a long jumper are gone. Its not going to be a team were one guy puts in 30 a night, this is a team that is capable of having 8-10 guys in double digits on any given night. Love the Princeton offense as well. -
jordo212000Going back to Footwedge's original point... the Colts never win in the preseason. I'm guessing the always finish in last place, right? But I digress.
The Cavs will play a more team oriented style, but that doesn't mean they will be more successful. To be a good team in the NBA you have to have a guy like Lebron who dominates the ball from time to time. Especially on a team like Cleveland. The "let's share the ball and sing Kum Bay Yah" approach works at Duke, but it rarely works in the NBA. When the chips are down and NBA player start caring in the 4th quarter they ratchet up their defense and guys like Mo Williams and Boobie Gibson have to create their own shot. They're not going to be able to do that with the team's best perimeter defender on them. Let's not discount the fact that Lebron always had the best defender on him. Now those guys are going to be on Mo and everybody else. -

No they are not. Look at the record of the 8 seed in the East compared to the 8 seed in the West last year. The Cavs could very well make the playoffs as low seed this year in the East, but wouldn't sniff the playoffs in the West.
As for this topic, I wonder if it's one of those SQ threads that just doesn't seem to go away?
I do think the Cavs are better than some people think, but they will have their struggles. -

Wouldn't surprise me and would show that the last 2 regular season MVP's were a joke. The Cavs are actually running an offense now. -
OQBThis team will get between 35 and 45 wins this year and sneak in the playoffs, but lose round one.
-
OQBOr if they think they want a lottery pick, they will just let the season go to waste and hope they get the number 1 pick. But I highly doubt that will happen with the Owner being crazy and predicting a ring before the king.
-
KR1245I dont think anybody said the Cavs will be more successful. They were certainly be more successful at moving the ball though. I understand that you need a go-to-guy in the 4th quarter but basketball is still a team game. If the Cavs move the ball and trust eachother they can have a solid team. You dont need one guy to take every shot down the stretch to win in the NBA. Obviously they are not going to be as good but you dont finish with the best record in the league for two years in a row because of one guy. The Cavs wont be as good as the top 4 teams in the East ( Boston, Miami, Chicago, Orlando) but I think they can compete with every other team in the conference.
-
hoops23You absolutely can take some things away from NBA preseason. These were the starters playing tonight for the most part and Byron Scott has proven to get a lot out of his teams, not to mention you DON'T win 60+ games back-to-back just because of 1 player.
A lot of people are severely underestimating the Cavs right now. Are they a championship caliber team? HELL NO. Are they a playoff caliber team? Uh, yes.
I say around 45 wins. This team has a winning background and some solid players. JJ will have a breakout year, he's improved so much. The Cavs have the perfect players for this system. Boobie is going to excel as well.
