Cavs Continue to Roll in Preseason
-
wildcats20The preseason means absolutely nothing in the NBA, almost as little as the NFL.
The Lakers are continually one of the worst teams in the preseason, but yet they have won back to back titles.... -

It's fixable, but we need a ball dominating point forward(at this point I'll take a ball dominating point guard), and those aren't easy to find.
I see that 25 and I'll wager an avatar on it. -
OQBI think Moon will see an increase in his numbers too with this new playing style.

Because the Lakers already have their shit in order.
The NBA preseason (especially the last couple of games) is a good indication of what you'll see in terms of line-ups, rotations, and pace.
I mean, I guess I understand how people think the Cavs will drop 40 wins just because of 1 player, who albeit is great, I don't think he accounts for 40 wins himself. -

Right.
I would be willing to bet a lot of money that the Cavs will be in the playoffs. I agree with basically everything you said in your previous post. -
hoops23Speaking of preseason though, Danny Green was just cut by the Cavs. I loved Green at UNC and was hoping he could get it going, but dude was playing like he was already gone. Made waaaaaaay too many mistakes and took too many bad shots.
Manny Harris basically took his position right away. I really like Manny's game though. Very active on both sides and is a very capable scorer/slasher. -
wildcats20Manny was really good(at times) at Michigan, but I always thought he would be a better pro player than a college player.
And that sucks for my dude Danny. -
Hb31187Didnt know Manny Harris made his way to the Cavs

Dude's been putting up numbers in the preseason. Played great defense too. He WANTED to make the team... It ultimately came down to him and Danny Green, and Green looked like he gave up a couple weeks ago. -

If hes actually playing defense thats a huge difference from college lol. He was always a great offensive player, especially off the dribble (jumper was a little iffy). Hes long athletic and quick so theres no reason he couldnt play solid D. Wonder if he gets any minutes during the season, not quite sure of the Cavs back court depth charthoops23;525747 wrote:Dude's been putting up numbers in the preseason. Played great defense too. thedynasty1998I agree in the thought process that Manny Harris would be a better pro than college player. He had to do everything for the team in Michigan and he looked like he would be more comfortable playing off the ball and letting the game come to him.
He's a solid pickup for the Cavs, but he certainly isn't going to be a difference maker in the NBA. -
KR1245Manny needs to work on his jumper a bit. Hes an above average defender with some decent size, I think that will help him get some minutes seeing as how he is now the tallest guy in the Cavs backcourt. I'm glad that they kept him over Green.

Interesting point. I've heard that they want to play with Jamison and Hickson on the court together at times as well. They will certainly be an up and down team. Should actually be interesting to watch. -

I forgot about AP. I guess hes now one of the tallest guys in the backcourt -
grodtI was interested to hear that Byron seems to be planning on bringing Antawn off the bench and starting JJ at PF. Obviously that doesn't mean Antawn won't contribute, but I thought he'd be one of our primary offensive weapons this year.
So far I've liked what I've seen out of the Cavs. I really liked that Manny Harris went out and earned a spot on the roster. Those are the kind of hard working players that we're going to need to be competitive for a few years. -

Exactly what I've thought since "The Decision". LeBron is a great player, but he can't take a team of D-Leaguers and get the best record in the NBA two seasons in a row. The Cavs still have some talent on this roster. Scott is going to have them moving (word is he worked them hard on conditioning in the offseason) which will lead to blowouts on some nights, but will also lead to some wins over some elite teams on any given night. I really see Boobie and Hickson stepping up this year. I think they were the most offended by LeBron's decision and they're out to prove something. Sessions is going to give them a true point guard as well and word is they'll try some lineups with Sessions and Mo both in there.
I see this Cavs team as a 35-45 win team and a 7 or 8 seed in the East (how about that for a storyline if Cavs-Heat happens in the first round). Don't forget that the Cavs have a HUGE trade exception they will probably use this year. I see the Cavs trying to compete this year in order to ease the transition for Cavs fans and get the bitter taste of The Decision out of their mouths before moving towards a full scale rebuild next year.
One thing that makes me sad though is wondering how many rings the Cavs might have, had Byron Scott been the coach the last 2 seasons. I'm going to the Schott tomorrow night to get my first look at the new-look Cavs. -
TiernanHa Ha - NBA Basketball watta joke - almost as fixed as WWF.
-
KR1245I think the Cavs will be more like a 5th or 6th seed rather than a 7th or 8th though.

I agree. I think LeBron would have absolutely thrived in Scott's system, allowing him to run in the open court and since it makes guys move his passing skills would have been even more deadly. -
friendfromlowryLet's see, they have five wins, with four of them over: Philly & Charlotte, as well as Houston and San Antonio's second-string teams.
-
thedynasty1998After looking at the teams in the East, here is how I see the Cavs stacking up:
Teams better than the Cavs:
Miami, Chicago, Boston, Orlando, Milwaukee, Atlanta (6 playoff spots go to these teams)
Teams who are middle of the pack and get the last two playoff spots:
Charlotte
Washington
The rest, in order of finish:
New York (I think they acquire Carmelo, and if they do, they move into playoff contention
Philadelphia
Cleveland
Indiana
New Jersey (see New York)
Toronto
Detroit -

Haha no you guys did finish with the best record in the league because of one guy. Lebron is the best player in the league and now all your stuck with a bunch of role players and lets be honest a movie without a star just isn't that good. Ha still it's the Eastern Conference so I mean 35 wins will probably land a playoff spot and then the Heat will sweep yall -

I think the Knicks are a playoff team right now. Probably no better than a 7 or 8 seed thoughthedynasty1998;525885 wrote:After looking at the teams in the East, here is how I see the Cavs stacking up:

I think Charlotte is better than NY and I just like the starting 5 for Washington better. I think John Wall makes a HUGE impact this year. -

I agree with alot of this. I'm not sold on the Bucks just yet, Bogut has said that he isnt going to be 100% for quite some time. I think the Cavs can be better than the Wiz and the Bobcats as well.
