Yeah, rebuilding sucks, but there is no sense in overpaying for some run of the mill guys that might get you into the playoffs...where you can get swept out of the first round.

You look like an idiot when you accuse me of something, I ask you to prove it, and you post a link to a thread that doesn't prove anything.

You look like a moron right now. You didn't school me on anything and I never got owned so I don't need to look anything up. Get a life.

I really wonder how they approach this season. I know that no one will mistake them for a championship contender, but I think they have a good enough team as is where they can be a borderline playoff team. I just think it's really problematic to be a middle of the pack team with really no pieces for the future, while in the process of rebuilding. No matter how you look at the current roster, Hickson and Varejao are really the only two pieces you want going forward, however if they make any significant trades one of those two will likely be included.

I don't think Grant is doing a very good job, but I'm surely not envious of his current responsibilities.

Hickson and AV are good role players, but they have to be able to draft a young star or acquire one. They have drafted poorly....that has to change in the next couple of years.

Nice FAIL to be looped in with these morons.

See what huge conflicts arise over nothing just because James ran out on us. None of this argument would have been necessary if he had just stayed in Cleveland and helped build that city a Champion.

    The irony....

Dude I don't even know who or what that is. The fact that you do know who that is tells me all I need to know.

And didn't you just get called out on another thread for saying FAIL too often?

BTW, you still haven't proved where I got owned...

According to ESPN Insider rumors it looks like Kid Congo is here to stay
Christian Eyenga, who was the No. 30 pick in the 2009 draft, averaged 11.4 points and 4.2 rebounds during summer league. Brian Windhorst of The Plain Dealer reports the Cavs will make a decision soon about signing him or sending him back to Europe for another season.

Windhorst writes: "It seems likely the Cavs will sign Eyenga to a slotted contract of about $2 million over the next two seasons with an option for years three and four. They let him play in Spain last season to develop, but he didn't get much playing time and stalled a bit. Even if he needs to spend time in the D-League next season, the highly athletic guard seems primed to start his NBA career."
If he isn't going to get 10-20 minutes on the Cavs I say stick him in NBADL where he can get that experience. He has the tools to be a solid defender already but ball handling and fine tuning his outside shot will be a must as well as learning English. Looking forward to seeing if he can become a solid NBA player.

Cavs signed undrafted free agent Samardo Samuels to a multi-year non guaranteed contract. According to Windy he was impressive for the Bulls summer league team (12 pt, 7reb). Seems to be inline for his college production last season (15 and 7).

Somewhat encouraging quote from the Draft Express report, might be a diamond in the rough:
Samardo Samuels was a consensus top-five recruit when he stepped onto Louisville as a freshman, ahead of players like Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday, DeMar DeRozan, and Al-Farouq Aminu, according to some highly respect recruited services. After a solid, but unspectacular, freshman season and an improved sophomore campaign, Samuels shocked the Louisville coach staff and fan base when he elected to enter his name in the NBA Draft.

I like that we're stockpiling some young talent, but we better hope these guys pan out (Green, Eyenga, Samuels) or else we'll be in a rough spot. I'd almost be ok with having a down year or two and getting some talent in the draft to build around ala OKC

Samardo reminds me of the undersized Centers who play hard and and produce as a role player off the bench.

This signing does lead me to believe that Leon Powe may be traded along with Delonte.

Way to make a move Chris Grant! Honestly, since he's taken over, this is the first personnel move he's made. Pretty hard to be excited about that.

With that said, I really like Samuels as a college player, but I just don't know if he will succeed in the NBA because he plays too flat footed and is undersized to play center.

You don't know anything at all, all you want is a big time name or move to happen. Guess what, Cleveland is in rebuild mode and these are the types of moves/signings you will see. Cleveland will wait up until the August date that they have to trade Delonte before making the move, find the best option and then go with it then.

Samuels is tough down low with a nice frame and potential. These moves just make it clearer that Powe and Jamison will be traded down the line. This move also lets me know that Grant and Gilbert have a plan to rebuild with young talent through signings, trades, and the draft.

I get that they are in rebuild mode. I like bringing in young talent, and think Samuels is worth a roster spot for a year or two to see if he can develop.

What I don't like is that if they are in rebuilding mode, then do it. This is literally the first move they have made since the season ended. We kept hearing about Bosh, Paul, Barnes, Jefferson, Sessions, buying into the draft, etc... yet this is the move they decide to make.

And I'm not even saying a boring move is a bad one, but this franchise is very fragile right now, so they need to do something to let people know what direction they are planning on going.

I think the issue people have with your side is what you just said in this post. The move "they decide to make". I am sure if it was solely up to the Cavs FO they would have decided to get Bosh, Paul, etc.. but then they put down the PS3 controller and realized that the other party had to be in agreement with the trade. If the Cavs did slip up it was thinking LBJ was coming back if he really was as non-responsive to the organization as it sounds he was. You can't say that they don't have a sound rebuilding plan because this thing won't be rebuilt in a day. Eyenga, Green, JJ, Samuels, Boobie are guys I can see sticking around if they perform well. Trading Powe and West now for Sessions/KK then seeing what the market for Mo, Antwan, Andy at the trade deadline is based on our record and other teams needs is a solid idea. The biggest thing with these young guys is that they have gobs of potential but unless they get playing time we will never know how they pan out.

But to say the Cavs didn't inquire or try to figure out what they need to do to get those people you listed is just ridiculous in my opinion.

I'd say that signing Samardo Samuels is a clear indication that the Cavs are going to look to rebuild through the draft and trade.

You don't make that type of signing unless that's your train of thought. He's got some serious talent, but failed to live up to the hype during his freshman season.. He rebounded pretty nicely in his sophomore season and posted solid numbers, and I think he's definitely a "Leon Powe" type of player with healthy knees.

I also see the Cavs may be looking at Shannon Brown? I'd welcome him back. He's much improved and he'd actually get playing time here now that Mike Brown is gone... It'd be pretty exciting to see Shannon running the break in this offense.

I am really glad that Grant stood his ground and didn't offer Barnes more $$$ to come to Cleveland.

Cleveland has 3-4 offers on the table for West so we should see something happen soon. I'd like to get a SF out of the deal, keep Mo and then deal him at the trade deadline for picks/talent. The T'Wolves still have said that they won't have 3 healthy PG's on the team, but they are waiting to see how Flynn's injury is.

The Cavs have signed Christian Eyenga. Two year deal worth a little more than $2 million w/options in years 3 & 4.

Other than Conley and Odin...this team would absolutely suck. The other 3 don't belong in the NBA.

^Cook is a pretty solid player when given the chance. Great 3 point shooter too.

I agree about Mullens and Kosta though.

Great to get Kid Congo over to Cleveland to work on his game in the NBA/D-League while also learning to speak better English. The guy's rebounding, blocking, finishing at the rim, and some of his defending is NBA ready. He just needs to work on his ball handling, shooting, and learning rotations.

Cook has been a disappointment so far, not sure that it his fault or not. I thought that other than Oden, he had the best NBA style game out of Thad's bunch. I still think he will be a decent NBA player though.
