Cleveland Cavaliers (current) off-season rumors

  Cleveland is supposedly in the lead for Sessions/Koufos as the Wolves really like Delonte's contract.
  
  This deal will have to be made in the next few weeks as Cleveland's deadline on Delonte's contract is coming up soon.

  From what I've heard he made one heck of a towel boy on the end of the bench for the Jazz. If Jerry Sloan can't coach you up, you're in big trouble. Koufos came full circle when he demanded a trade from the freaking T-wolves because he doubted how much playing time he would get. Haha. How did he say that with a straight face?

  Exactly....Sloan is one of the best in the game and gets the most out of his players. I want no part of Koufos on this team.

  Chris Grant just continues to show how foolish he is. Koufos should only be a part of a trade if you need to make numbers match up. If Grant is actually asking for him, he is in further over his head than I originally thought.

  If you would actually research the trades, you would see that Koufos would simply be a throw in by Minnesota. He isn't a piece that Cleveland is directly looking to land. Sessions is a young PG who had a solid two years in Milwaukee but the Bucks didn't want to go over the luxury tax so they didn't match the offer sheet on Sessions.
  
  -The timing couldn't be better for Minnesota to move Sessions, as a number of teams are looking for point guard help. The Indiana Pacers, Charlotte Bobcats, and Cleveland Cavaliers have all been in contact with Minnesota to explore what it would take to land Sessions. The Cavaliers are believed to be the frontrunners at this point, primarily because the Timberwolves would love to have Delonte West's contract in return, with the idea that they would waive him and it would cost the team just $500,000 to save $4 million. Minnesota would throw in Kosta Koufas, as well.

  Eh, I'll play devil's advocate on this one. One thing the Cavs are lacking right now is a young answer at C. Koufos is a 7 footer with a nice outside jump shot. He's only 21 so he still has a lot of room to grow. He actually played well his rookie year but didn't get many opportunities this year. Sloan is notorious for not playing his younger players. I think with some good coaching combined with minutes that Koufos could develop into a serviceable center.

  I think Sessions is an okay player, but he's not any better than Delonte. Although I understand wanting to get something for him due to his legal problems.
  
  Plus, they make similar money and the Cavs are only bringing on more salary by having Koufos added in. Why exactly would Koufos have to be part of the deal if the Cavs don't want him?
  
  This trade doesn't make much sense to me for the Cavs. I would think they would almost be better off just cutting West and clearing the cap.

  So cut West and not get anything from him, man Cleveland should have hired you as the GM with those brillant thoughts.
  
  Cleveland would be getting a young PG (24 yrs old) who averaged 15.1 pgg, 7.5 apg, 4.1 rpg, and 1.3 spg when given the chance to start at Milwaukee in 2009. He is 6'3 with a nice frame. If he doesn't turn into the legit starting PG, then we know we'll have a servicable back up under a good contract. Also, he has no legal troubles or mental issues that I know of.
  
  This will also allow Cleveland to trade Mo now or even later.
  
  Koufos can be thrown in and if he turns it around then we have a young (still 21 yrs old) 7'0 footer lcoked into a reasonable contract for 3 years.

  No, I don't think they should just cut him. But things sure have changed since people were saying how desirable Delonte is and now they are settling for a backup PG? Like I said, I think Sessions is an okay player, but he's not better than Delonte.
  
  This is a deal I think the Cavs make, but I just think it's making a move in the name of making a move. Not sure if it's a move to build for the future.
  
  And Koufos isn't going to turn it around and will likely be overseas in a couple years after his last guaranteed year.

  West was very desirable teams wanted him in every Cleveland deal before his run in with the law. I have no issues with his game (I actually love it). But with his pending legal issues and his contract situations Cleveland has to move him.
  
  Sessions is a better ball handler and distributor than West, which is what Cleveland is looking for in an uptempo offense.
  
  Cleveland has looked at only two PG's seriously, Lowry and Sessions who both would work well in the offense that Scott is implementing. Its not just a move to make a move, their adding a young PG with a lot of upside and this frees up Williams to land us some young talent/picks in return.

  If this deal goes down it is the end of Mo in Cleveland. It might not happen until the deadline but I dont think he will be a Cavalier at the end of the season.
  Sessions is a decent player with some potential. Hes young and his contract isnt bad at all.
  
  Kofas.....who knows. Throw some shit against the wall and see if it sticks. He obviously isnt going to be a guy you use down low to bang with Howard but he could be a decent compliment to JJ. Kid is still 21 yrs old. Might as well give him a chance

  I'll play devil's advocate to your point. Sloan is among the best NBA coaches of all-time. He is well-respected and nearly always gets his teams to the playoffs. You don't do that by benching good players in favor of worse players. The point is, if Koufos could play, he would have.

  It's long been a popular thing to say that Sloan doesn't favor younger players and won't give them a chance to play but that is far from being the case. Exhibit A is Wesley Matthews this past season. Undrafted, and was put into the starting lineup. If you can play, Sloan will find a place for you.
  
  That being said, I don't want the Cavs to touch Kosta but whatever I guess.

  This deal isnt about Koufos. Some of the people on here act as if we are going to use this guy as our starting center for the next decade.

  Dunno if this has been mentioned yet, but supposedly the Cavs and Matt Barnes have begun contract negotiations.
  
  I like this move if true. Especially if it's a short term deal.
  
  He's a tough player and very good defender and excels in the open court. A lot of contending teams are after his services, so this could be a signing where we only sign him with the intent on keeping him until the deadline, then shipping him to a contender for a pick or two.
