  I hate to say it, because I really like Turner, but I agree with you. I personally wouldn't have touched him in the top 8 or so. I think he will be a solid pro and will have a long career, but was a reach at #2. I really hope I'm wrong though.

  No kidding. They still haven't made ONE move yet. Delonte is still on the roster, that alone is a joke.

  i dont really care if Delonte is still on the team this year. Lebron would of been the only reason to get rid of him.

  Grant is completely in over his head, and I have been saying that sine day 1.
  
  Gilbert wanted a rookie GM who he could easily push around. Ferry was hardly Jerry West as a GM, but he wanted no part of being around with Gilbert having a bigger say in personnel matters. No other credible basketball guys would put themselves in that position either, so he just promoted the rookie GM who he knew had no standing to ever stand up to him.
  
  His experience amounted to working for Ferry for 5 years, and a God awful Hawks franchise for 9 before that.
  
  With that kind of track record its a good thing Gilbert promoted him instead of letting him get away. Otherwise we would have never had the pleasure of watching the franchise become completely impotent and paralyzed as far as doing anything to improve the team.
  
  Much like Randy Lerner , having no background in basketball Gilbert should have hired a credible basketball guy like a Holmgren was for the Browns to run the Cavs.
  
  Anyone who doesn't think Pat Riley's presence as head of the organization didn't play a part in Lebron going there is kidding themselves. Gilbert kept hiring rookie personnel guys who had no track record of proven success. When you had a super star like Lebron, you don't keep hiring rookies he won't respect to run your team. It just was a major unforced error on Gilbert's part to repeat the same mistakes over and over. If he had his way, it would have been a rookie coach (Izzo) and a rookie GM running the team again even though the last pair of rookies (Ferry and Brown) proved not to work out.
  
  In love Gilbert's enthusiasm, but he just doesn't seem to get the bigger picture in many ways.

  Excellent post! With the biggest off season the Cavs ever faced, Gilbert fires his coach and GM. I thought for sure he had a plan in place and then when I heard he hired Grant, I thought it was on an interim basis. When I heard he was the guy, I was shocked. And then he goes after Izzo, which I thought was a mistake in the first place and lets that drag out. I think he eventually got the right coach, but now they are in rebuilding mode, which Grant didn't even know what direction they were going to head to after Lebron left.
  
  Just been a disastrous off season for the Cavs and there are no signs currently that it's getting any better.

  Well Cavs fans knew that if Lebron left, this offseason wouldn't be good lol it's not like Grant coulda done something, after Lebron leaving, that would make the franchise better lol I would argue that if he did try and make a pretty big signing, like an Al Jefferson, that it would set the franchise back even further. With Lebron leaving, the only thing you can do is plan for the future...we know the Cavs won't be good for a few years (even then, it'll be difficult), so you have to save cap room and plan for 3 years down the road.

  Not sure why that's laughable? But anyways, that's just a dumb statement. Why can't he make the franchise better? Not better from last year's team, but he can always make them better whether it be bringing in young talent, shipping off old talent or acquiring draft picks.

  If he couldn't keep Lebron in Cleveland, there's no reasonable realistic reason to think he will be able to land a top recruit, especially this summer. If it's gonna happen, it will happen in a year or two. No ones gonna wanna come take Lebron's spot.
  
  As a Cavs fan, I'm fine with how things have gone. We have to build from the draft and hope we can land a star. The NBA is a star-driven league. Getting a guy like Al Jefferson or a pretty big free agent isn't gonna do anything but be able to put Cleveland in the playoffs at best. They gotta save money and build for next year and beyond.

  First off, I agree with you, but it wasn't long ago that Cavs fans were talking about how many pieces they have in place for a sign and trade? So, a trade isn't out of the question.
  
  Secondly, the Cavs have to hope they can be a playoff team or one of those 2nd-3rd tier teams. Getting a guy like Al Jefferson makes them better. The goal can't always be to win a championship, as that is really only realistic for 4-5 teams each year. The Cavs have to have a team fans want to watch, and if they are not competitive, no one in Cleveland is going to spend the money.

  The sign and trade was only going to happen if Bosh or CP3 put the pressure on to be traded here. Other teams had better pieces/parts. With Lebron gone, they are going to have to build through the draft. Free agency is going to be very tough on the Cavs unless they completely overpay for a borderline star...like a Joe Johnson type.

  So, Bosh and CP3 are the only free agents this offseason where a S&T was possible? And why can't they make a trade in general, it doesn't have to be a S&T?

  There is still plenty of time before the season starts. I dont agree with putting all your eggs in the "lets get Bron" basket but they didnt have a choice. There is no point in going out and adding guys like Jefferson, Chandler or any of the other guys who were recently traded unless Bron returned. Cavs are in total rebuild mode. They dont have to make any trades right now, there will be plenty of teams looking to make minor upgrades around the deadline.

  I guess that I would just not prefer to get some mediocre free agents and then end up a 6-8 seed. I am in favor of a total rebuild.

  Two Wolves currently on the block, though, interest the Cavs. One is guard Ramon Sessions, made available when Minnesota signed Luke Ridnour last week.The other is young center and Canton native Kosta Koufos. The 7-footer who played at Ohio State was sent to Minnesota from Utah in the trade for Jefferson and the Wolves want to move him now. The Cavs are in the market for at least one developmental big man now that it seems clear Sasha Kaun will remain in Russia for another year.
