Cleveland Cavaliers (current) off-season rumors

It definitely makes you wonder, doesn't it? If LeBron is convincing guys to come to Miami for a tremendous pay cut, I can't imagine what type of players he could have recruited in Cleveland with a far better salary. Especially last summer when the Cavs were trying to sign Artest and Ariza. I know some people are going to respond and say "well who wants to go to Cleveland? blah blah blah," but money talks and apparently LeBron's stardom talks.

Saw this on PD's site on Lowry,

""[The Kyle Lowry offer sheet is] exactly why I have been afraid to look at any move the Cavs are going to make this offseason. Everyone with any understanding of how the NBA works, particularly in small markets like Cleveland, knows that the Cavs absolutely must blow up the team, get as bad as possible for three seasons and hope that they get lucky in the draft by finding a legitimate superstar and two near-All-Star-quality pieces. Instead, the Cavs are offering to commit another $6 million per season to an undersized guard with poor point guard instincts."

Makes a good point. I almost want to lose 60 games this season.

JJ Hickson put up 34 and 9 earlier against the PHX squad.

    Well said.

Not sure what to think of this. Obviously it's impressive, but wouldn't you expect this from him playing against a bunch of rookies and NBDL players?

I think the reasonable expectation for JJ in a summer league game is probably about 20-25 and 8-9. Anything better than that is just beautiful. I'm really happy he's been working hard to develop a jumper.

Stats from the summer league, if anyone's interested. There are some pretty quality players in the league, so impressive nonetheless regarding Hickson.

Love to see Cousins is tearing it up! I haven't heard much from Evan Turner, anyone know how he's been playing?

BTW, sorry to get off topic.

I heard that Turner has been awful. It sounds like he had a decent 1st game with 12 and 8 but he went dowhill from there.

For gosh sakes, it's freaking summer league.

Yea I actually looked up his stats after I posted that link. Seems to be struggling a little, which can't be too promising from someone who wasn't drafted off of potential, but off of his maturity. I think a team is okay with a 19 year old struggling a little, but they probably expect more from Turner. Noticed that his turnovers have been high too. Not sure if the Sixers have him playing with the ball in his hands or off the ball?

Is Delonte West not coming back to play for the Cavs??

He has yet to be released but currently the Cavs sit at about $7 million under the cap. In Chris Grant's presser a week ago he said the team is going to be $12 million under. That mistake was caught by Windy amogst others in that Delonte's $5 million contract won't be around.

Probably looking at any trade options for teams that will just buy him out so we get something in return.

I have a few real money bets on how turner woudl fair int he league. Easy money, he doesnt have an NBA game, not overly athletic or explosive...and does not have a knockdown jumper as is shown by his 33% overall and 25% from 3

Actually the Cavs are over the cap because they never renounced LeBron's or Shaqs rights.

They still have cap holds for Shaq and the 16 million dollar TPE.

That's why the Cavs still have the MLE, because they're still currently over the cap.

Evan Turner was the #2 pick, he's got some nice guaranteed money and a guaranteed contract. He'll be on the team no matter what he does.

Apparently, NBA scouts must have thought differently, to pick him at #2.
