LeBron is getting more years hence more $$$, that's a fact.

This wasn't a gift by LeBron, this gave him more $$$. End of story.

you can not count the years because he is going to get that kind of money per year no matter where he is. He could have said F U to the Cavs and just signed with the Heat for 16 mil a year and the Cavs would have got nothing in return.

    Wrong once again.

He had to take the sign and trade to get more $$$/years in order still let the Heat be able to sign one of their previous players like Haslem. So it wasn't a gift, more in terms of getting LeBron years/$$$ while creating room to fill their roster.

In a potentially significant turn of events, the Miami Heat is attempting to work out a sign-and-trade agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers for free-agent forward LeBron James, who already has agreed to join the Heat

Should the Heat be able to pull off the maneuver, it could possibly give Heat President Pat Riley the flexibility to re-sign a remaining current Heat free agent, such, as Udonis Haslem, Dorell Wright or Quentin Richardson.

No matter the approach, James is locked into a Heat future.

Regardless of such a maneuver, the Heat plans to sign Washington Wizards free-agent swingman Mike Miller. The Heat is expected to sign the former University of Florida standout to a contract in the five-year, $30 million range.

In essence, the Heat is completing its end game.

The Heat also is finishing off a sign-and-trade agreement with the Toronto Raptors that will allow recently acquired power forward Chris Bosh to receive a six-year free-agent contract instead of the maximum five-year contract an outside free agent can receive. The Raptors, in turn, will receive a package of draft picks from the Heat and a trade exception of roughly $15 million.

With a sign-and-trade with Cleveland, James also could receive a six-year package, instead of the maximum five-year deal an outside free agent could receive. The Cavaliers also would get a $15 million trade exception.

Such an arrangement would allow Bosh, James and re-signed Heat free-agent guard Dwyane Wade to each receive similar six-year contracts starting just below the league maximum of $16.6 million for next season.

The Heat still is addressing the possibility of retaining Haslem, the free-agent power forward. However, under its current salary structure, the Heat only could offer Haslem a veteran-minimum 2010-11 contract of $1.1 million. The Heat then could make up the money to Haslem in 2011-12 and beyond.

However, if both Bosh and James are acquired by sign-and-trade agreements, then it could create more wiggle room for a Haslem return, albeit not anywhere close to his $7.1 million 2009-10 salary.

Haslem has had contact with several teams, with the Utah Jazz emerging as a suitor in the wake of losing free-agent power forward Carlos Boozer to the Chicago Bulls.

The Orlando Sentinel also reporting that Orlando Magic free-agent forward Matt Barnes said he has been in contact with the Heat. Barnes earned $1.6 million last season, opting out of the $1.6 million he otherwise would have earned this coming season.

Other names linked to the Heat are free-agent guards Jason Williams and Mike James, and Cavaliers free-agent center Zydrunas Ilgauskas.

If we do trade with the ATL, I hope they leave Josh Childress and give us Jeff Teague.

I fucking hate this idea. I'm "ok" on the idea of Childress but I want nothing to do with Marvin Williams. Throw in a pick and try to get Teague or even J Smoove. I dont want to get rid of Mo unless we have another PG coming back. Only way I'd be on board is if they were able to bring over Flynn in a potential Al Jefferson trade.

I'd take Collison, who seems more realistic of being free, over Flynn.

There a some young PG's in the league that could be free but I agree that I'd like to see Cleveland lock one down before shipping Mo off.

But Cleveland will be making small moves like this over the next two weeks. Hopefully stocking piling picks and young talent.

One guy I'd like to see Cleveland give a shot as the PG would be Conley Jr. He has played better recently and is still really young.

I'm all for that. Bring on as many picks as possible. Its going to take some time but this doesnt have to be a 3-4 year rebuild mode. Add a couple young pieces and at the same time put yourself in a position to go after a big time FA next year.

I'd take a look at Mike Conley.

Windy posted that Cleveland is ready to execute their MLE, TPE etc.

Some names were Josh Childress, Kyle Lowry, and Al Jefferson.

    I agree about Conley Jr..

Also, Kyle Lowry would be a nice get.. Not too many defensive PG's better than he is.. Plus he's a tough nosed player overall.

Getting Al Jefferson, Josh Childress, and a PG such as Collison/Teague/Lowry/Conley Jr would make this offseason a bit better for me. I'd obviously love Teague or Collison, but I'd take any of the mentioned.

A big name FA next year may be all that this team needs to win it all.

Cleveland still needs a C and a solid SG.

And when was the last time Cleveland signed a big name FA?

The Cavaliers will need to build the team through the draft and trades, hopefully landing several players that will stay at Cleveland and build a nice young core.

yeah, no way the Cavs can land a big name free agent unless you over pay like Atlanta did for Joe Johnson. If Cleveland ever gets that superstar...it is going to be through the draft like OKC did with Durant.

I agree, but maybe we'll be lucky and get someone who says "I want to do something even LeBrong couldn't do and bring a championship to Cleveland." Haha.

I'm not sure why the Grizz would trade Conley? They really don't have anybody that could replace him

A big name free agent isn't coming to Cleveland. They couldn't get one before with Lebron, and now they definitely aren't after Gilbert's meltdown

They have to build through the draft

Probably not but money talks. I also dont think that Gilberts rant is going to cost the Cavs players like some people think it will. I think players will understand that it was in the heat of the moment, especially if some of these rumors about Lebron end up being true.

    .

Yeah...just read Booby Gibson's letter. He sure wants out of Cleveland doesn't he? Competitive players that want to win will line up at Gilbert's door next year. Competition...a concept that apparently you don't quite understand.

Jordo, your a fucking troll. Everything you say about Cleveland is negative. You have said on here before your not even a basketball fan..so why dont you just do us a favor and go discuss the reds and let people who actually know basketball talk about it.

Actually I am a basketball fan. Just because I'm not sucking off Gilbert and the Cavs, I have to go away? Go look around the newswire. My opinion and sentiments are on par with what most of the nation is saying. However because it disagrees with your warped opinion, it's wrong? haha
  • GOONx19
    Per ESPN's SportsNation:

If you were a Cavs fan, would you ever root for Lebron again?
    64%...No
    5%...Only after he retires

    Who looks worse?
    54%...Lebron
    46%...Gilbert

How has your opinion of Lebron changed?
    61%...Like him less now

Will not winning a title before joing D-Wade diminish his legacy?
    42%...A lot
    35%...Some

Do you agree with Gilbert's contention that Lebron quit?
    57%...Yes

Cavs are looking into another former NBA player now in Europe, Qyntel Woods.

    http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2010/07/cleveland_cavaliers_may_be_rea.html
The Cavs are also looking at several under-the-radar free agents, including small forward Qyntel Woods, who like Childress has been starring in Europe over the last several years. After playing four years in the NBA and having some off-the-court troubles, the 6-9, 230-pound forward has developed overseas.

Last season Woods was first team All-Offense and first team All-Defense in the Euroleague for Prokom of Poland. He averaged 16.9 points and 6.5 rebounds last season when he was regarded as one of the best small forwards in Europe. He has worked out with a handful of teams.

pardon me for not being excited about taking on some of the best players from the NBA d leauge or the european league. if the cavs are going to do something this coming year, i will need to have seen whoever they get play in the last 3 months. i've never heard of this woods guy.

also, i stand firm in saying the cavs are dumb for taking that TPE from Miami, they aren't going to get better if/when they use it. I whole-heartedly believe they are going to use that on an expiring contract and go back to the cavs of the late 90's spending little and winning little.
  • derek bomar
I don't wanna sound like debbie downer, but if we're looking at Europe, does that mean we can't get people here? fuck...?
