McFly1955Who's all getting Skyrim Friday?
Oblivion is probably my favorite game of all time, so I'm pretty pumped.
Unfortunately I'm all growed up now and won't be able to sink as much time into this one as I did with Oblivion, but I'm still pretty pumped to start playing this a few hours a week. -
Commander of AwesomeI wont be able to get it first day but I'll be picking this up the week after. I'm with you, oblivion is my favorite game of all time as well.
-
SonofanumpI thought the thread title said "Ender Scripts" when I first read it.
-
jmogI will be getting the game for sure, but my current business trip will not allow me to play it right away. Oblivion was a blast of a game, I was hoping they would make this one into an MMO, but it does not appear to be.
-
OneBuckeyeDue to lazyness I haven't built the computer I have intended to. Debating on buying the PS3 version for 60$ or dropping 750$ on a build from micro center so I can get it done this week. But then I could play battlefield 3 too... hmmm.
-
jmogJust get the PS3 or XB360 version, same game and since those are typically in 1080p TVs the graphics look better .
-
tcarrier32computer graphics > console graphics.
i've been waiting for this game to come out for a long time, i've had it pre-ordered since Game-Stop would let me. It's really terrible timing though, i'm in my last year at OSU, I could use the studying. -
NYFan54Just watched the trailer, the graphics look beast. Never played an Elder Scrolls game, so I might try it. Most of my time will be devoted to MW3 though
-
I Wear PantsThis will devour my time for the next two years or so.

HereticI'll probably wait a bit to buy it. Might as well give them time to release patches to catch bugs and glitches. Almost a necessity at times with western RPGs. At least for me, after one of the downloadable missions for Dragon Age Origins erased specialized classes from the game until a patch was made. Pissed me off...

bethesda is notorious for the bugs in their games. if i remember correctly, there was a bug in the first mission of fallout 3 that wouldn't allow you to even finish the mission. its part of the fun i think, spending 20 hours that first week only to end up exploiting something they over looked and having your game crash.Heretic;962353 wrote:I'll probably wait a bit to buy it. hoops23Supposedly Bethesda completely overhauled the game engine and cleaned up the game play.
With that said, Bethesda releases BIG game that take place in HUGE worlds. Games this big are bound to have bugs.
I'll be buying it at midnight Thursday since I don't have classes or work on Friday. -
wes_mantoothLooks amazing, but these types of games are not for me. I don't play enough and some of the tedious things you have to do...piss me off.

McFly1955
I'm not an RPG guy in general, and was hesitant about buying Oblivion when it came out for the same reason you mentioned, but Oblivion (and I assume Skyrim) are just different....Great combat, no tedious leveling or anything...Really fun to explore and kill things and loot, not like other tedious games. The most fun I've had gaming.wes_mantooth;962497 wrote:Looks amazing, but these types of games are not for me. I don't play enough and some of the tedious things you have to do...piss me off. -

Interesting. Maybe I should pick up Oblivion on the cheap...to see if I like it then.McFly1955;962555 wrote:I'm not an RPG guy in general, and was hesitant about buying Oblivion when it came out for the same reason you mentioned, but Oblivion (and I assume Skyrim) are just different....Great combat, no tedious leveling or anything...Really fun to explore and kill things and loot, not like other tedious games. OneBuckeyeSo ps3 is a port... Anyone see side by side screenshots yet?
-
McFly1955
I'd give it a try -- $10-$15 used, and it's held up well....I popped it in a couple months ago and it's still awesome.wes_mantooth;962590 wrote:Interesting. Maybe I should pick up Oblivion on the cheap...to see if I like it then. -

Typically games made for both systems look better on 360. Developers don't take advantage of the ps3 hardware on ports. -
OneBuckeye
obvi... bethesda is putting up a good front for the PS3 version as they kind of screwed that for oblivion. If anyone comes across side by sides, post em plz.wes_mantooth;962677 wrote:Typically games made for both systems look better on 360. Developers don't take advantage of the ps3 hardware on ports. -

And if you get the Game of the Year edition, you also get Shivering Isles. YOU WANT TO get Shivering Isles. It defines awesomeness.McFly1955;962669 wrote:I'd give it a try -- $10-$15 used, and it's held up well....I popped it in a couple months ago and it's still awesome. -
hoops23I remember seeing an article talking about how Pete Hines (a Bethesda employee) couldn't tell the difference graphically between the PS3 and PC version.
Here's a recent vid of the PS3 version. Graphics look great.
