Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Don't store stuff randomly. There is a glitch that makes all the items vanish. Also related to that, my friend is a huge pot head and had been smoking for the better part of the day two days ago then put all of his stuff in some random barrel in Solitude and now he can't remember which one its in. I've been in his XBL party for a couple hours while he's been looking for it.OneBuckeye;974979 wrote:Also, where are you guys storing everything? I don't have a house, so I have been using a barrel in my room in the mages guild. Not sure how long that will hold out. -
Hb31187So im thinking about maybe buying this game. What exactly type of game is it? Seems kinda like an rpg, the RPG type games I've ever played is the final fantasy series. What game does this compare to the most?

It's an open world RPG. It isn't turn based and it can be played in either first or third person. You can do literally whatever you want. If you enjoy any fantasy games/the freedom of Grand Theft Auto (though its even more open than GTA) I would highly recommend it. It requires a bit of patience and the ability to learn the mechanics before it gets rolling but there are hours and hours of things to do.Hb31187;975815 wrote:So im thinking about maybe buying this game. No, open world as in they put you on a fantasy continent with villages, mountains, cities, monsters, animals, caves, dungeons, warring factions, and everything you would expect to see included in all those catergories and then let you go anywhere you want on that continent whenever you want, do whatever you want, and go about it however you want.Hb31187;975838 wrote:Open world rpg so kinda sorta distantly like Diablo?

I don't play many RPG's but Skyrim is amazing. Oblivion was very good as well, but I think Skyrim may be better.Hb31187;975838 wrote:Open world rpg so kinda sorta distantly like Diablo?

Commander of AwesomeEnded up only getting to play for an hour last night which is next to nothing in this game lol. I came across a dragon in the wild along with a giant, wolf pack, and 2 mammoths. Needless to say I slayed the dragon then got the fuck out of there.

OneBuckeyeI got a house last night, got the gold from going to a camp north of whiterun. Had a bunch of ore and the transmute spell book which transforms iron ore into silver then into gold ore. The bandit cheif in there was pretty tough at level 10. Apparently there is a quest from someone in whiterun that can lead you there.

Well I shall have to try that this night when I get home. I know there is a speech glitch that you can exploit to max it out in Riften, I was heading there last night before I had to go to bed.hoops23;975772 wrote:Oh LOL, my bad. hoops23Ok, so Lydia got destroyed by a Troll yesterday and she may actually be dead LOL. I haven't seen her since.
Stupid bitch should have seen me running and took notice.
There is a Dark Mage fort (the name escapes me at the moment) on the way from Winterhold to Hrothgar. A lot of valuable items in there once you kill off everybody.
Also, I was told yesterday to follow the foxes that you run across. They'll lead you to locations/items not marked on the map. -

Yeah she is dead. Fortunatly there are a lot more companions to boss around in the game.hoops23;976667 wrote:Ok, so Lydia got destroyed by a Troll yesterday and she may actually be dead LOL. I haven't seen her since.

I shall have to start following them then, that's pretty cool . -

Yea, it figures. I ran across a dragon on my way up the 7,000 steps and I was all alone. Of course, it was a fire breathing dragon and it completely owned the shit out of me.OneBuckeye;976672 wrote:Yeah she is dead. Fortunatly there are a lot more companions to boss around in the game.
I had another companion in Whiterun anyway, so I'm not too worried about her. -
Commander of AwesomeI used the free house exploit last night to get the house. glad I did as I already have my chest full of shit that I'll probably never use. I played for a few hours last night and felt like I did nothing. I found a cheat to improve your speech in Riften, but I read about it and found that it can make the game extremely hard as the enemies level up with you. Thus by improving your speech you'll level up as well but wont have the armor/weapons to go along with it making the game next to impossible.

OneBuckeyeI used the house exploit as well. Very nice. I finally got back to the main quest and did the Thalmor Party the one after that. That took me like 4 hours. Vendors need more gold as I have so much crap to sell stocked in the house.
I ran through the entire thalmor party quest. I think it would have been pretty hard doing it right. My sneak is only 27 so that wasn't really going to happen. -
Commander of AwesomeI have so many misc quests open that I've been focusing on them. I did a quest last night "Waking Nightmares" which starts in Dawnstar. It took a long time to finish, and the staff you receive is kind of lame. For those that have done it, which option did you chose?
I was also challenged to a drinking competition that I didn't take part in. I hope to go back and put that chump in his place. -

[h=1]5 Personality Flaws Skyrim Forces You To Deal With[/h]
[h=2]#5. An Incredibly Boring Personality[/h]
One of the first things my wife said, after watching me play Skyrim for a few minutes, was, "What must the computer think of you?"
That's because this is my play-style: "Is that a cave? Wait, what's down this path? Can I go in this house? I can? Rad! Some other time though, because that's a butterfly! I can pluck salmon out of the river, harvest mushrooms from stumps and tan leather? That's amazing!"
Watching me play Skyrim is like reading one of those Family Circus cartoon maps if little Billy paused periodically to fire an arrow into the back of somebody's head to steal their magical boots. The only consistent theme linking my actions together is that none of them, not a one, advance the game in any meaningful way.
If you had come up to me a year ago, disc in hand, hopeful glimmer in your eye, and said that you'd designed a game about butterfly catching and leatherwork, and asked would I mind giving you some feedback? I would have spat in your eye and thrown it in the sewer, then harvested your tears to sell to a Chinese herbalist.
But in a world where you allow me to do anything -- fuel a political coup, join an assassin's guild, slay giants, battle dragons -- apparently green-sourcing my cooking ingredients becomes priority #1.

I did read someone on a different board (or somewhere, fuck I don't remember) saying that one drinking contest is actually the quest for one of the Daedric princes. It winds up spoofing The Hangover, as you wake up somewhere far, far away and have to retrace your steps to find out what happened. Pure genius.Commander of Awesome;977716 wrote:I have so many misc quests open that I've been focusing on them. I did a quest last night "Waking Nightmares" which starts in Dawnstar. The main thing I like more about Elder Scrolls than Fallout is just the scenery. While the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Fallout 3 was accurate for the game, it was kinda dull to look at in comparison to Oblivion's mountains, plains, forests and other medieval fantasy settings. And it just felt like there was more to do with all the guilds and random quests from villagers and the like. I don't know if there really was more to do, but it felt like it. Maybe because of how there were like 300 or more dungeons just scattered all over the land. You couldn't walk from one place to another without running into a dozen caves, ruins, forts, etc.hoops23;978119 wrote:Much better than Fallout 3 and NV IMO. -
Commander of AwesomeI'd agree with that.
