Player of the Year is likely a two-man race at this point between T.J. Warren of North Carolina State and Jabari Parker of Duke. -
wildcats20TJ's real name.

The reporter from the News & Observer (or wherever I copied this from earlier) was obviously on a tight deadline. Maryland certainly could have used Warren's services this season.birddog23;1588722 wrote:Who is Tony Warren? -
swamisezAttendance for the Wednesday session is going to be quite poor. thankfully the ACC decided To bring in Scotty McCreery to play a free concert that way at least 2500 people will show.
Bojangles town! -
wildcats20Warren wins POY. Parker is 2nd and Paige is 3rd.
Bennett wins COY, Roy finishes 2nd. -
reclegend22Warren was the right pick for POTY. Dude dropped nearly 25 a game and helped one of the most talentless -- aside from one or maybe two guys -- and worst coached teams in the country to a 19-12 finish all by himself. Warren eclipsed 30 points nine times on the season and scored 41 and 42 in the last two games of the year.
Parker wins Freshman of the Year. -
swamisezWake looked pretty good beating Notre Dame today. Bezdelik lives to fight another day. Wake shot and hit quite a few deep jumpshots, uncharacteristic of them in many ways. Miller-McIntire played well and had to in order for the deacs to get their first ACC Tournament victory since 2007.
-
reclegend22Bzdelik inherited a program in need of a complete overhaul when he arrived at Wake Forest. Following the 2009-10 season, in which the Deacs went 20-11 and 9-7 in the ACC, Wake lost four starters, including four of its six leading scorers. On top of that, the school fired its head coach, Dino Guadio, just a year removed from him having Wake No. 1 in the country. It was a disastrous move, ensuring years of instability moving ahead. As soon as Dino was overthrown, sophomore sensation Al-Farouq Aminu, the team's leading scorer and future lottery pick who at the time was considering returning to school, bolted for the NBA.
I don't know if Bzdelik will keep his job, but Wake is not the most desirable place to coach, especially after the abrupt firing of Guadio and the unrealistic expectations of the people in charge. Wake is a lot like Utah in a way. They are as competitive as anyone in the ACC at home -- beating Duke and UNC and playing Syracuse to the wire -- but just haven't performed on the road. -
reclegend22Clemson leads Georgia Tech 53 to 51 in the late session. Under 4 minutes to play. Winner faces Duke tomorrow at 9 p.m. The Yellow Jackets have fallen apart as Clemson is on a 13-0 run.
On slate tomorrow in Greensboro:
Virginia vs. Florida State at Noon
Carolina vs. Pitt at 2 p.m.
Syracuse vs. N.C. State at 7 p.m. -
reclegend22Tech hits a fade away jumper to tie the game in the final second. Five more minutes of basketball in Greensboro.
-
reclegend22Duke has a date with Clemson.
I'm glad the Tigers won. The popular refrain that it is hard to defeat a team three times in one season is popular for a reason, and Duke had taken the Jackets out twice already this season. With Robert Carter back at full strength, Tech had played pretty good basketball the last month, much better than it was when Duke last faced them.
Also Duke should have the mental edge against Clemson, having lost by 13 at LittleJohn Coliseum after holding a double-digit lead over the Tigers in that early January game. Clemson outscored Duke 41 to 21 in the second half of that one and out-rebounded the Devils by a wide margin. It will be an extremely physical game. Duke needs to hit the damn boards and limit second and third chance possessions. -
swamisezWith the Carolina contingent having left after their game earlier in the afternoon, the building will be full of New Yorkers (Syracuse and Duke Students and Alums). Amile Jefferson said Duke is preparing to play angry, ala Wichita State. I hope they bring their attitude. Last year's loss to Maryland was pretty tough to swallow.
-
reclegend22Pitt has tripled up North Carolina early. Panthers lead it 25 to 8 with seven to go in the first half.
Both of these teams are tough to figure out. -
wildcats20Not surprised at all. I figured Pitt would win.
-
reclegend22Despite UNC's seeming disinterest in the ACC Tournament most years, I actually thought this might be a year the Heels made a run. They've been extremely hot the last month of the season and I figured that momentum would carry into Greensboro.
Anyway, I fully anticipate a UNC run at the end. -
reclegend22What do ya know. UNC cuts the lead to 8 with 1:39 to play after trailing by 15 all game. Pitt should be disbarred from the ACC if they lose this game.
-
reclegend22UNC within 4 with 1:03. Pitt held a 20-point lead with seven minutes to go in the game.

You want to make some money in march? Bet for whoever is playing Pitt in the first round. -
reclegend22N.C. State has Syracuse on the ropes in Greensboro. State up 64-63 with under 30.
Pack playing really tough basketball right now. I've actually been pulling for Syracuse in this one as a result. A hungry State against Duke is almost always a nightmare scenario. Memories of 2007 all over.
Duke must first take care of business tonight, though. -
