reclegend22I sort of cheered for Wake the last minute or so. Duke disappoints again. I've lamented all season how the Blue Devils' propensity to go long periods of time without scoring is going to be the end of this team in the tournament. Like at Carolina, tonight was no different. Wake went on a 15-0 run inside the final three and a half minutes. This shouldn't be news to Duke, but that can't happen.
At least all of the students for Wake rushed the court this time. By court-storming standards, it was pretty well-coordinated compared to that tiny meeting of people earlier in the year. -
Ironman92Makes me feel better about maybe beating UNC this weekend

wildcats20Apparently Coach K was dizzy after game and sent Wojo out to talk to media. Was told to stay in the locker room.

reclegend22
K has suffered from previous such spells over the course of his career. You might be familiar with the time he appeared to lie down to take a nap in a game against Georgia Tech about 10 years ago. He is prone to bouts of Presyncope (the state of being lightheaded to the point of fainting).wildcats20;1587421 wrote:Apparently Coach K was dizzy after game and sent Wojo out to talk to media. swamisezK looks tired, Duke looks tired, the whole thing wreaks of a prolonged absence and a early flame out in March.
Pete Gaudet gonna get a run for his money in Capel next year. -

I saw that today K was back on the practice floor after sleeping in late. I really hope it isn't anything more than just stress/wear and tear of the season. Rivalry and jokes get thrown out the window when comes to someones health.swamisez;1587660 wrote:K looks tired, Duke looks tired, the whole thing wreaks of a prolonged absence and a early flame out in March.

birddog23Ready for this Duke/UNC game. Hopefully Duke comes out inspired and plays good, smart Duke basketball. Hoping for a good shooting night from the Dukies. Let's get a W and roll into the ACCT with some momentum
-
Ironman92Good to see Duke end UNC's win streak.

birddog23Duke handles business

ironman02Carolina shot 60% from the field tonight and lost by 12.
You can't turn the ball over and give up offensive rebounds to a team as good as Duke.
1-1. Hoping for a rubber match next week. -
dlazzDuke is ranked too high
6-8 is more appropriate -
reclegend22Parker (30 points) and Hood (24 points) were awesome for Duke tonight.
The remaining cast of shooters and team defense remain MIA. While there were certainly some strong offensive stretches for the Blue Devils tonight -- mainly due to Parker and Hood being beasts -- there were still far too many stretches where Duke just looked out of sync and lost on both ends of the floor. Ball movement, defensive rebounding and late-game decision making all must improve or this team is going out early in the tournament. -
MulvaTerrible inbound defense by Maryland.
-
SportsAndLadyI've never actually seen the "foul them when leading by 3" strategy not work
Until now -

swamisezI think the ACC tournament is going to be a total free for all. No idea who is going to win this thing. My money will be on a Syracuse and Carolina final. Carolina is still playing good basketball and I think Syracuse is going to make a run to win this thing.
If the Devils draw Maryland at any point, pencil in Dez Wells for 30, Nick Faust for a career high and Duke goes home early (again). -

Luckily the ACC bracket is now set, and Duke and Maryland are on opposite sides of it. I like the Blue Devils' draw for the quarters. It's certainly more desirable than Carolina's path is as the fourth seed.
Note: The time for the championship game on the bracket below is incorrect. The final session remains in the traditional time slot of 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. ESPN isn't that fucking stupid -- operative word being that. Anything in the name of ratings. I'm just resigned to the fact that Duke and Carolina will never play on Sunday at 4 p.m. again. Sigh.

reclegend22Maybe we can get an ACC Tournament thread started as well. Just thought I'd post the bracket here for now.

wildcats20Paige was a 2nd team All-American from the Sporting News. Which means his number will be honored in the Smith Center.
Hard to believe that this would happen after what was a very below average frosh year.
