It'll be an interesting weekend because MSG is affectionately known as Cameron North to Blue Devils fans for the strong alumni and fan support in Manhattan, and Syracuse is obviously New York's team. It's an event I would love to attend at least one of the two years it will be there. Farther down the road, I fully expect the dilution of the Big East to present the ACC a chance to swoop in and grab The Garden.

For now, though, Barclays will be awesome.

    Nice hire.

Sad to see Wojo go. There is no better representative of Duke. Wish him well and would be elated if he does well enough to eventually return home.

Rec, I saw where he's been an asst there since 1999--has he had overtures from other teams over this time? It seems to me he'd be a hot commodity, and it's kinda' surprising he's lasted this long without being a HC. Maybe he was just waiting for the right job to open up?

That's long been a source of speculation within the Duke fan-base, what Wojo, and Chris Collins before him, was waiting for. It's generally accepted that in order to be given the keys to a program like Duke one should first have some head coaching experience at least on a mid-major level. This is not always the case (see Bill Guthridge or Kevin Ollie's hirings at North Carolina and UConn), so some believed that maybe K was grooming one of the two to take over upon his retirement. That apparently is not the case, and I am glad.

As for previous offers, there were major rumors about Wojo going to Ohio after John Groce left and Ohio reportedly was interested, but Wojo did not interview to my knowledge. I really wasn't sure he'd ever leave Duke. Some guys like not being the head guy. But I am glad he did if he has designs for ever returning to Duke.

That is too bad. I'd rather have an up-and-comer who'd only be there for 2-5 years than a guy whose niche is at the minor-conference level. I am disappoint.

Latest rumors have Jim Christian as a candidate at BC. I highly doubt it goes very far, but it was out there the other day

    That deal is happening.

More importantly, James Michael McAdoo is going pro.

Is that all Boston College could get? I mean, he had above average success at Kent State and has done moderately well at Ohio (though never reaching the NCAAs), but failed in the Big XII at Texas Christian.

Reports are that Danny Manning is now leading heavily toward heading to Wake Forest. Why doesn't he just do it, then? I've never heard of a coach being offered a new job and then publicly stating that he needs 36 hours to decide which job he likes better.

Yeah, as it developed over the past 2 days I was surprised. Considering he bailed TCU because he was only so-so with them in the MWC and knew he was going to get his shit rocked when they moved to the Big 12, I can't believe BC wanted him, let alone hired him. He seems like the mid-majors are his ceiling (and he did pretty well with Kent and Ohio)

Wildcats might have already reported this, but JMM leaving UNC and entering the draft. I was sort of surprised to see that, since he's probably a late first round pick this year. Next year would seem like a favorable field for the kid.

Here's to hoping no other surprises come my way today.

Directly before your post about BC an Wake lol

Lol. Wow. Obviously I was blinded by the thrill of the post.

That said, with the Jackson kid on his way and the depth UNC as in the front-court, I'm not sure it's that big a loss (if it is even one).

@GoodmanESPN: Wake Forest has hired Tulsa coach Danny Manning, sources told ESPN. Story coming.

And yes, losing JMM is a big loss.

Good hire by Wake. Manning can coach the shit out of big men.

I like the hire of Danny Manning at Wake. It's an accessory to greatness job with UNC Duke and State just down the road, however they have a pretty good alumni base in the NBA and they have a good setup at the Joel and in Winston.

    Love the Deacs

Keep hearing more and more about Parker coming back. Dan Patrick was talking about it this morning on his show. He thinks Parker's coming back.

CSN's Bill King also said as much this a.m., and I tend to agree.

There's a ton of potential there. Wake Forest is a great destination because basketball is the primary focus of the fans, it's in a great hoops-centered conference in a state that is rich in talent and crazy about the sport, and has a good enough history (even if not on a Final Four level) with some remarkable NBA alumni in the last 20 years (Tim Duncan, Chris Paul, Josh Howard). It's also an elite academic institution, which clearly helps in recruiting certain players.

Manning might be just the right "big name hire" that Wake needed to create a spark within the program. And he's also a solid up-and-coming coach, by all accounts. Good hire.
