B1G 2013-14

Also doesn't help to be playing with Bielfeldt.

But look, I don't think Virginia deserves a one seed, simply because they did not perform in the out of conference.

This one is over. Damn what a finish.

Over the back not called. And Morgan is weak on the post.

I guess my beef with UM as a #1....they should've been the #1 before beating OSU, but they weren't.... It was Nova somehow.

Michigan gets beat soundly by a team that went 1/15 from 3 land and had Harris sitting for several minutes with injury in the 2nd half

Big Brother yet again...Sparty looking good, and at the right time.

Was kinda surprised IU didnt get invited to the NIT. Dakich is right though..you can fool fans with the record in playing horrid teams, but not committe's.

They thought they would get in so they practiced thursday..and a player tore his ACL.

    What a clusterfuck season.

If they dont show MARKED improvement next year..I want Crean OUT>
  • wildcats20
    Did they turn it down?

There's no doubt the NIT would have invited them.
  • Laley23
They didnt get an invite. Turned down the CBI (since its pay to play)
  • thavoice
Yeah.....teams dont turn down NIT normally, but many do turn down the CBI and whatever that other one was.

Wright State said they would likely turn down the CBI and other tournaments as well. They accepted a few years ago when they had a very young roster and thought it would be good experience for the young players, but this year apparently they have a good # seniors and feel it wouldnt be worth it.

PRetty embarassing to not even get a NIT invite, but hopefully it helps them alter things in the future.

I know BK had the two cupcake classics they hosted, but I think they usually had a better NC schedule than Crean. Now it seems like he counts on the ACC/BIg 10 challenge game to be their only good pre B10 matchup most years. This year they did the 2k tournament and played UCONN, but man they played some very awful teams.

I know OSU has gotten the same backlash from the media/fans as well.

The pissing match with UK sucks, that game needs to be played.

Assuming a loss today, Michigan will still have 2x as many top 50 wins (10-5 record to Virginia's 5-4), and most likely 3 more wins against tourney teams.
The ACC is turning into the new Big East: The really large conference that gets overrated a bit due to how large they are. They'll have 5 good/really good teams and a whole bunch of decent-to-crap ones, but because they have more really good teams than any other conference, they'll shout about how great they are, despite how after you get past those teams, you're basically talking about the east coast version of the SEC. Before expansion, the ACC was the definition of a top-heavy league with little depth (ie: how the B1G has the superior record, but the ACC has more "NCAA vs. NCAA" wins). They're the same way now, but the top is bigger, making the total package more formidable.

At least they deserve credit for using expansion to make their top heavier, though, by actually getting schools who are good at sports. As opposed to the B1G, which is growing due to a desire to grab big TV markets, no matter how shitty the team there is. Rutgers should be in the MAC, not an actual major conference. My best laugh of the entire week was on Thursday night when Dakich, in making a point of how balanced the B1G is, commented you won't be seeing teams getting beat by 60 points, like Rutgers had that day, there. For this year, Dan...for this year...

The ACC is getting Syracuse and Louisville. We're getting shitty-ass Rutgers and mediocre-ass Maryland and hoping those schools can find their own Tim Miles and become surprise contenders.

The BIG10 added those teams simply as a money grab for their network.

Precisely. Pure money. Fuck the conference's quality. Fuck the fans' entertainment. Just get money.

I hate Jim Delany about as much as Rec hates Jim Boeheim.

    I guess 2nd team B1G ain't bad for a guy who sucks.

One could write a dissertation about Maryland, how a program with financial backing (Kevin Plank), that is in such financial disaster territory is truly amazing - it has a lot to do with out of control spending and no controls at all. The B1G didn't need either, but Rutgers and Maryland needed them.

Schools should probably focus more on basketball.

How the hell does he lose the mil on Achilles? I'd cry myself off the show after that. Then, he fucked it up twice more in the same evening!
  • Classyposter58
Indiana is probably the easiest B1G school to get into, Iowa would be second
  • Midstate01
    Hahahahaha wow wtf
  • Laley23
The saddest part, the guy STILL WON! How bad were the other contestants?

I would seriously lose my mind if I didnt get Achilles right though. I mean, to lose 1M....Id just walk off the stage and drink myself stupid for days on end.
  • Midstate01
Well all he had to do was solve one puzzle with guessing like 5 letters. Lol. The other contestants only got 1000 each time he fucked it up.

Guys, he didn't lose a mil, he just lost the chance at winning a million (he'd have to get to the bonus round, solve the puzzle, and then hope the wedge he landed on was the million dollar wedge). Still, how in the hell does a college kid not know how to say Achilles???

This draft is going to be one of the most intriguing in a long time, IMO.
