B1G 2013-14

No talk about the biggest upset of yesterday? South Caroline taking down the greatest recruiting class of all time in Kentucky. SC is a terrible team, last in SEC. UK just lost second straight game. They are headed in the wrong direction, big time. Going to be curious where they will end up being seeded come NCAA.

    LOL

The B1G is not the best conference top to bottom.

Just because the teams up top aren't that good and lose to the teams at the bottom doesn't make the conference balanced.

"LOL".... I can give the Big12 the top conference only because they are stronger at the top. But top to bottom, across the board, I'll take the B1G. No matter how you want to spin it, at the VERY least, its very close. Sorry you disagree. I know you know it all. My bad.

There's really no argument that top to bottom the big 12 is the best conference. I'm sorry that you are so incredibly biased you can't see that.

Well, to be annoyingly technical, they couldn't be better top TO BOTTOM because their bottom team, TCU, is a complete joke. But they do have a stronger lower-middle class with WVU and Okie State being better than teams like Purdue, Indiana and so on.

Northwestern is a joke. So there goes that

lol, not to the TCU standard.

Northwestern has a win over Wisconsin; TCU lost to a Longwood team that Ohio U. beat by 35. They're just embarrassingly bad.

    If tcu is a 1, NW is a 2.

I agree with S&L on the Big XII as an overall better conference than the Big Ten, but Northwestern is much more competitive than TCU. Northwestern has five times as many conference wins as the Horned Frogs (admittedly sort of a skewed stat since TCU doesn't have any lol). I am also hugely biased as Chris Collins is my guy. All in all, though, NW is just three close calls removed from a .500 record in conference. Granted, they finished the year very poorly. Collins went from possible COY favorite to afterthought really quickly.

NW is way better than TCU. At one point they were beating and being competitive versus everyone.

Something makes me think if you flip OSU and Michigan, your tune would be different.

But to your point, I do think the top 4 or so is weaker than the past. MSU, OSU, Indiana, are all not as good. Michigan I think can go either way. Last year's regular season and this year's aren't that much different. If you remember last year, they ended the regular season terrible, lost the 1st game in the B1G tourney, then made a run for the big show.

So, I do agree that overall the B1G is not as good as last year. But I think it's mostly at the top. Mid to bottom is about the same.

After watching the first half of the OSU/IU game, you'd be hard pressed trying to convince me the B1G's the toughest conference in the country. That was ugly.

I don't think Illinois even tried tonight.

Nebrasketball wins at IU. Huge home game to close the year against Wisconsin. Win that, and the Huskers will dance.

Rice should be coach of year.

    Miles you mean?

    Lunardi just had
LAST 4 IN: CU, Ark, Tenn, Nebraska
FIRST 4 OUT: Prov, Minnesota, FSU, Mizzou

I'm not sure about this talk of Wiscy as a one seed. Thoughts?

If they win the B1G tournament (and beat Nebraska this weekend) AND Kansas loses, I'd have to think they'd be the most logical pick to move into a #1. Hell, maybe if Wichita State gets upset in their conference tournament to a nobody, too. Undefeated regular season, but played in a weak conference and their best win (St. Louis) is looking worse and worse by the day.

Of the other possible teams, Syracuse is falling apart, Duke just lost to Wake Forest and while 'Nova has a great record, they've gotten beaten twice by the only other particularly good team in their conference and don't have many big wins.

So, they can't afford another loss (and at Nebraska could be a brutal test for them, being in the Huskers' place with them knowing they're all but in the tournament if they can win), but if they win out and the right team(s) lose(s), they have a legit shot.

If they win the B1G tourney I guess that might be legit.

Committee has said multiple times that the B1G championship game plays no role in the selection unless a team that wasn't in, wins to auto qualify.

    And you believe that?

They also say they don't look at potential matchups. But yet Carolina and Kansas seem to be in the same region a ton.

I do believe that seeding is done before the B1G game and that the game doesn't affect it. Makin the game, yes. The winner, no.
  • WebFire
Yeah, there is no way humans aren't considering that.
  • wildcats20
Ok not a "ton" but the past 2 years they have met in the tournament. That is not a coincidence.
