B1G 2013-14

Laley23Ill say it here as well...
Tom Crean is the worst coach in the B1G, I'm convinced of it. How he managed to lose tonight, and yes, it was 99% his fault, was unbelievable.
...and no, Crean is NOT safe. His presser last night sounded ridiculous. There are a TON of people like me who think he is a great ambassador for the program with the types of kids he is recruiting (good grades, no off court issues etc). But, he cant coach. Its just so painfully obvious. A lot of people expect IU to make a run at Brad Stevens when he decides the NBA isnt a good place for him lol.
If you didnt watch the game last night, its tough to explain how it all went down. Evan Gordon and Jeremy Hollowell, who havent seen crunch time minutes all year are in there for you while 2 starters sit on the bench with 18 and 19 minutes respectively for the game. You are up by 9 with under 2 minutes to play, and you somehow dont get the ball over halfcourt the rest of the game and lose. A failed inbounds. A 10 second call. A failed inbounds (with VONLEH INBOUNDING...WHAT THE FUCK!!!). PSU scores each time, including on some fouls by IU. It was just terrible.
But again, as for the presser, Crean deflected it all onto the players because he is starting to feel the heat from the fans/press. Saying stuff like they have to know the situation, call a TO, guys need to get open etc. He then blamed the defense for the loss...which had held PSU top 3 guys under their average and PSU had like 50 pts at the time of the meltdown. We had 22 fucking turnovers...thats not defense. Thats Crean playing guys at PG who cant play PG and guys in crunch time who average 3 minutes a fucking game. He pointed to how we beat Michigan last week and won the B1G title last year as examples of players doing their job and getting results. It was such a joke. -
thavoiceUp 9 with 2 to go. Twice could nto get teh ball in.....one they TO on a 5 second violation even though they had timeouts, and the other time they threw it away. Total disaster and reminded me of when I play against my stepson and TRY to make sure he wins and lose on purpose.centralbucksfan;1580256 wrote:Honestly, I didn't see it! But doesn't sound good! Are some of the IU faithful grumbling at all? I am sure Crean is pretty safe as far as job. But if this season continues as is, and if things don't go well next, I could see him starting to get some real heat.

He always seemed like a whiner to me. Give him credit, he took the team from the the depths of the abyss and made them credible again, but I have seen too many holes in his ability to lead this team to be a legit contender year in and year out like they should be. -

Damn, that makes me feel marginally better about OSU's losses at home against Iowa and Michigan. They blew leads there, Indiana suffered an epic meltdown you don't see very often at all here.Laley23;1580262 wrote:If you didnt watch the game last night, its tough to explain how it all went down. Certainly sounds like it was a complete melt down...from a coaching perspective! When Crean took over IU, and literally had zero talent, I respected and thought he was a pretty good coach. He had them competing in games they had no business being in. Mostly because of their effort. But two years ago, and last...I certainly questioned his coaching ability. He failed to make adjustments and I thought he completely underutilized Zeller in the post. His team was never very good in the half court. Which, IDC what kind of team you have, or philosophy, you have to be able to execute in the half court to win championships. Good/great defenses will always make the game a half court game. I like his fast past attacking style. But that only gets you so far. So yes, I agree, I don't think he is all that great. He has had plenty of time to get IU to the top, and keep them there. Which is easier said than done. Climbing that mountain isn't easy, but keeping a team there consistantly is difficult to do. Thus, seperating the good and no so good coaches.Laley23;1580262 wrote:Ill say it here as well...

It it was even better last night. Something about "unfortunately, losses to NW and PSU at home...a feat even

Thats not that weird. I mean, not being able to use twitter is funny, but that's about it. Every coach sends recruits those messages. Hell, snapchat is now a legal recruiting tool...that's creepy.centralbucksfan;1580295 wrote:....WTF? lol -
Laley23Also, I forgot another possession.
Along with a 10 second, 5 second and turnover on the inbounds Indiana had ANOTHER turnover on the inbounds when Sheehey threw it away...4 straight possession you don't get it over half court (3 you don't even get it inbound). -

Laley23No doubt the kissing your son is weird lol.
I just don't think the Twitter thing is weird. I guarantee we see something like that from every D1 coach if private messages were public... -
