2013 recruiting chatter

What is it? I'm fine with EITHER ONE.centralbucksfan;1137845 wrote:Whats laughable is u continuing to play the oh woe is me crap with Calipari. UK knew exactly what they were getting when they hired him with this baggage. He continues to surround himself with World Wide Wes (sat rite behind the bench during UK final). When he does this, the speculation with the NBA is always going to be there as well as him possibly cheating somehow. It is what it is, and isn't going away. You can blame the media and whomever you want. But again, you got what you wanted, knew what you were getting. Deal with it.
Either he is a great coach...or he's a terrible coach.
Why would the NBA want a terrible coach? If you can't coach in the NBA, you get eaten up and spit out, usually by mid-season. -
Laley23Indiana was in to see EC Mathewes and Was Clark of Romulus (Michigan) today. Crean was doing the recruiting himself. I had the chance to see Romulus versus St. Johns (Marc Loving, OSU) and Bedford (Jackson Lamb, Undecided...probably a baseball prospect). They were really fucking good. Mathewes is rated higher, but Wes Clark had the better day. I know the coaches told me both had Michigan and Michigan State in to see them regularly this year. IU only has 1 open ride for that year, so this is not even a priority with them heavily involved with BeeJay Anya.
No one probably gives two shits. But I got to announce them and then just work their other game, so its fun to see them get looks from my alma mater. -
sportswizuhrdIsn't Anya the kid with the ridiculous wing-span?
-
Laley23
Yeah, from DeMatha (MD). 6'8" and a 7'9" wingspan, I believe the longest wingspan ever recorded.sportswizuhrd;1138269 wrote:Isn't Anya the kid with the ridiculous wing-span?

Azubuike24Chris Thomas to Xavier. JUCO from Florida. Former 5-star recruit.

Saw sully tweetwd at him yesterday -

Where is 'in'? btw, Nicky Lowe told me Lamb's definitely going the baseball route in college, if he isn't drafted first.Laley23;1138257 wrote:Indiana was in to see EC Mathewes and Was Clark of Romulus (Michigan) today. According to Dispatch today, Parker hasn't been returning OSU/Matta phone calls. Of course Parker/sources close to them say OSU hasn't been in contact recently. Sounds as though Duke is leading. Parker old man wants him at Duke and K just made a visit recently.bases_loaded;1138472 wrote:Saw sully tweetwd at him yesterday -

Wow, if not for that pic, I would have said that is unbelievable!! And I thought Davis had a huge wing span! Unreal!!Laley23;1138275 wrote:Yeah, from DeMatha (MD). 6'8" and a 7'9" wingspan, I believe the longest wingspan ever recorded.

In was in Romulus, Michigan. I assume just for work-outs or some sort of all star game as AAU hasn't started.vball10set;1138477 wrote:Where is 'in'? btw, Nicky Lowe told me Lamb's definitely going the baseball route in college, if he isn't drafted first.
As for Jackson Lamb...it's a no brainer. He does have Big Ten talent in basketball, IMO...but I also see him as a potential first round draft choice in baseball. Last year in regionals. He made the eat catch I've ever seen at any level in CF. Dead sprit backwards, glove up over head like a basket and jumps. Feet and chest ran into wall, glove goes over the fence and he comes down with it. Followed it up with a 350 at least foot bomb in the bottom of the inning. -
vball10set^^^I see--the basketball game must've been a summer league game then..was it on BCSN?

Azubuike24Watching tonight's Nike Hoops Summit Game.
1. Shabazz Muhammad is really good. Whoever gets him, whether it's UCLA, UK or Duke, is a Final Four contender. He's THAT much of an impact player.
2. Andrew Wiggins, PG from the class of 2014 was Shabazz's Robin (albeit on the other team). He's better than any PG in the 2012 class, BY FAR, and he's only a Sophomore.
3. There are some other nice players on the U.S. team, but overall, the talent is way down compared to 2009, 2010 and 2011. It's not even close. I'm confident in UK having Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress, both are in the top 8-10 players of the class, but I'm thinking experience is going to be more valuable next season. Teams with returning players from the previous few classes are going to be teams to watch.
Anyone else watching? -
vball10setnah, basketball season's over--bring on the pigskin!

Lets not get too excited. We have heard this stuff quite often about HS players. Harrison Barnes ring a bell? Kid is really good. To say he will make a team into a final four team is a stretch...depending on who that team is and the surrounding talent.Azubuike24;1139299 wrote:Watching tonight's Nike Hoops Summit Game.

Azubuike24Shabazz is that good. Add him to any of those teams, they would be a Final Four contender. That's all I said. It's not a stretch at all.
The rest of the cast...not that impressive. -
Azubuike24CBB is also going to be a bit "down" next year. The lock out kept a lot of talented players around another year. It should actually make for a very enjoyable season, but the more I think about it, the more I think a player who is CLEARLY at the top of his class, could make a serious impact nationally.
The last 3 years, you had 3-5 guys per class who were capable. I think both Davis and Rivers were in that group, so was Kidd-Gilchrist and Bradley Beal. In 2010, it was Sullinger, Irving, Barnes and Brandon Knight. In 2009, I thought Henry, Wall and Cousins were in that group.
Again, it's just my opinions, but I've seen many of these guys 4+ times, and the only one who consistently stands out is Shabazz. Kyle Anderson, Anthony Bennett, Archie Goodwin, Rodney Purvis, Yogi Ferrell, Alex Poythress and Kris Dunn are all guys who I can see making immediate impacts. Many of the others are great prospects, but will take a little time to adjust (big guys usually do) and may not be an immediate force on the college level. With that said, if I'm a fan going into 2012-13, give me a team with a star from one of the previous 2 classes returning and I'll feel as confident or even more confident than having THE TOP GUY, Shabazz, from 2012. I'll feel even more confident knowing it may take this class a bit more time to adjust.
Deshaun Thomas, Ohio State
Quincy Miller, Baylor
C.J. Leslie, N.C. State
Jarnell Stokes, Tennessee
Patrick Young, Florida
LeBryan Nash, Oklahoma State
James McAdoo, North Carolina

Azubuike24The 2012 recruiting season is going to end with a bang on Wednesday. The pieces are going to fall. There are essentially 6 top 25 or so players left to announce.
Shabazz Muhammad and Nerlens Noel will announce together on ESPNU at 7:30 PM.
It's expected that both Amile Jefferson and Tony Parker are very close behind as they are considering almost the same schools.
You then have Anthony Bennett and Devonta Pollard who will stand alone, but you better believe their choices will also step from the 4 previous to them announcing.
It's going to be a wild next month or so, especially how many impact transfers are also going to be fair game. I can't remember a more loaded crop of transfers... -

Are Bazz and Noel actually announcing "together" or are they announcing during the same show? If they're actually announcing together, it almost has to be UK.Azubuike24;1140715 wrote:The 2012 recruiting season is going to end with a bang on Wednesday. The pieces are going to fall. I'm hearing Bazz to UCLA and Noel to Georgetown, but like I said before, I won't be the least bit surprised if Cal pulls this out. -

Will be interesting to see how this ends up. Howlands job is in serious jeapordy. Bazz could make or break his time at UCLA. So you know he is putting on the full court press to get Bazz. Although I am sure most know its a done deal that all the UK players will declare they are going pro, they have yet to do so officially. Does this hurt UK at all with these recruits announcing soon? Who knows whats going on behind the scenes.ironman02;1141224 wrote:Are Bazz and Noel actually announcing "together" or are they announcing during the same show? Azubuike24They are both announcing at 7:30 PM, but not at the same location.
Everything leaking today seems like Shabazz is about 90% UCLA.
Noel seems more likely for UK, sounds like 50/50 between UK and G-Town.
John Calipari will be a live guest on the show, so some think this indicates something good? -

Or maybe because he just won the national title?Azubuike24;1141298 wrote:John Calipari will be a live guest on the show, so some think this indicates something good? -

Azubuike24"Knowing How Bad They Were The Last Few Years"
The FIRST WORDS out of Shabazz's mouth after officially announcing.
That says it all...he's anointed himself THE SAVIOR!
