2013 recruiting chatter

Pre-season probably right. But by the end of the year, Watfords production will be made up for.

He brings the ability to hit the 3, and is a 6-9 SR. But he plays little to no defense and is a decent rebounder. Perea and Hollowell will get the minutes without him, and they can both defend better and Perea can easily rebound more. Watford is a tremendous asset offensively, but IU was so good offensively with him only at 12 a game, not sure his offensive production cant be matched as well. Hulls will get a ton more open looks with Yogi at PG and Hulls at SG, and Oladipo and Sheehey will be improved again. Zeller will have an expanded arsenal.

Hollowell is a better defender, and at 6-8 TRUE wing (Watford is a fake wing), is better offensively as well. Watford as a SR will be more consistent, which is the one thing you cant replace. But its mostly his scoring, and I expect IU to be better offensively next year and they were a top 10 team this season.

Toledo St. John's Jesuit's Marc Loving will spend the final March Madness weekend in New Orleans.
Loving, a 6-foot-8 guard-forward, is scheduled to participate in some of the NCAA Final Four festivities.
The Ohio State verbal commit is one of eight high school juniors, along with 32 seniors -- considered among the best high school basketball players in the nation -- scheduled to play in the All-American championship. It's the second year for the event, which will pair an East squad against a West squad and a North team taking on a South team in a basketball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

Lol, I love Marc Loving. But he is not a top 8 player in the JR class.
  • sportswizuhrd
Rivals as of August 30th had him at 33rd.
Scout has him as a 4 star and 25th overall.
ESPN has him a 4 star and 26th overall.

Laley, with all due respect, how in the hell could you know that? I've gotta' think that the people putting this together not only know a HELLUVA lot more than you when it comes to ranking players on a national level, they also have had the benefit of seeing these players play at one time or another.

Where does it say he's top 8? "considered among the best high school players in the nation"....smh.

Well it's all seniors and 8 juniors. The site I read about it, was an Indiana one since he's on the iu recruits team, said the juniors were selected because they were the top 8 in 2013 in the selection committees eyes.

I agree with you that he isn't Top 8, and that's why I asked....hopefully he'll continue to progress as he has through h.s.

I haven't seen much of the 2013 class, but Indiana has some top 100 kids that I don't think are top 100, and I think Loving is over ranked. But maybe 2013 is just that weak. Loving, in a year like 2011 is a top 50 kid. 2013 though, top 30.

Noel moving from 2013 to 2012 really makes a huge difference. If he stayed, 2013 was clearly amazing at the top. The Harrison twins, Jabari Parker, Julius Randle and Noel would all be in the top 8 of this year's class. I think only Shabazz and maybe Kyle Anderson (especially with how weak the PG spot is in 2012) would be the only guys in their conversation.
  • Azubuike24
Nerlens Noel and Shabazz Muhammad will now announce on the same day, Wednesday April 11th...not together, but within hours of each other. I can't help but think this is a positive for Kentucky...
  • Azubuike24
According to Gary Parrish, he states multiple sources expect Nerlens Noel, Shabazz Muhammad and Anthony Bennett to all commit to Kentucky...

    This would be insane.

I still think Noel goes to Syracuse, as strange as it sounds.
  • sportswizuhrd
    Daaamn!

    1-Harrow
    2-?
    3-Bennett
    4-Muhammed
    5-Noels

Sound about right outside of the 2? Then you have Poythress, Wiltjer, Beckham, Goodwin and Cauley.
  • Azubuike24
    PG Harrow
    SG Goodwin
    SF Muhammad
    PF Wiltjer
    C Noel

    Poythress, Bennett, Cauley, Hood, Beckham.

That's about the max it would get. Still not believing it...but who knows.

Ohio State fans, keep an eye on Tony Parker. If Sullinger leaves for the draft, I can see him coming to OSU. He's not an immediate impact player by any means. Big kid, like 6'9, 280, but has skills. Has trouble playing more than a few minutes without getting tired, but he'd be a nice recruit to bring in late.

Been hearing that Bazz is headed to UCLA. Also heard that Noel is going to Syracuse.

Obviously that could've changed, and there are always differing sources, so I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see them end up at UK.

Have any of the Kentucky fans heard anything lately about Calipari and the Knicks?

He has basically said he has no interest. But it's Cal.

I have a friend who is a huge UK fan. He listens to Cal's radio show all the time and he has said that Cal has repeatedly said he has no interest in going back to the NBA. However, I've heard a bunch of rumors about Calipari putting out some "feelers" for potential NBA jobs, specifically the Knicks. Could just be the internet rumor mill.

Honestly, I see no reason to leave Kentucky. He makes a ton of money, he gets basically any recruit he wants, and he's now a god in Lexington. He really can't fail at UK.

He's pretty much said the exact same thing you said in the 2nd part of your post

Noel and Bazz recruitments have been dead silent from the get go. It's getting close, a week from today, to announcing. I'm sure we will hear millions of rumors before then.

I think the Cal to the NBA talk is mostly for the media to keep controversy. He's pretty much been flat out saying he's not going. Not even the feeling that it's just coach talk either.

What I find funny is...most media people think Cal can't coach. He just recruits players, gives them the ball and they out-talent everyone to a title. However, everyone wants to say that a guy who "can't coach" is coveted by the NBA, where you actually need to REALLY know how to coach...

Which is it national media? Guys like Michael Wilbon says he's the NBA's hottest name yet says he's not a good college coach...laughable.

Whats laughable is u continuing to play the oh woe is me crap with Calipari. UK knew exactly what they were getting when they hired him with this baggage. He continues to surround himself with World Wide Wes (sat rite behind the bench during UK final). When he does this, the speculation with the NBA is always going to be there as well as him possibly cheating somehow. It is what it is, and isn't going away. You can blame the media and whomever you want. But again, you got what you wanted, knew what you were getting. Deal with it.

Anyone hearing anything on the OSU recruiting front? Juco's?

Pretty quiet. The only top recruit OSU was in on this year was Tony Parker. And with Sully leaving, I don't think its a reach he would be even more interested now.

Haven't seen him play but I have read about him being Josh Smith 2.0. The UCLA Josh Smith, not the Atlanta Hawk Josh Smith.
