Confirm that he's on KU's campus right now? I'll look lol just saw something saying he was there and that Self is obviously going to use the Wiggins momentum to get him to commit on the spot.reclegend22;1442947 wrote:He is visiting Duke, Georgetown, KU, Oregon and one other school, I believe. Can you confirm this?
Not saying he will, just saying it's a possiblity, albeit a small one i'm sure. -

That particular tweet was supposedly from a UNC fan (not that it matters; there are stupid fans from every team in America). I say some pretty stupid, off-the-wall shit from time to time, but can't even imagine ever typing that to a teenager. Pretty fucked up.Midstate01;1442959 wrote:That person is a moron and probably likes two different teams in football and bball. Cc? Cgw? -
Laley23He is for sure on the campus. Rec just needs to get a Twitter and stop asking us to confirm shit lol.
Is KU the last visit? Thats the best chance for a spot commitment, imo. -
reclegend22
Haha, no, I believe you. I don't need you to "confirm" lol. I meant can you confirm that he is visiting all the schools I listed? I thought maybe you had read something with more information than I did. I saw on a message board a week ago or so that he was going to the schools I mentioned, but never have seen a confirmation of that fact.SportsAndLady;1442969 wrote:Confirm that he's on KU's campus right now? Laley23He has been to Oregon, Georgetown and Duke already, is at KU now.
-
Laley23The only other schools I have seen him linked to are OSU and SDSU. But he just met with Matta and Fisher. Never visited the schools, at least as far as I know.

Yep. Thanks. Just checked and read that he was at Duke yesterday. I totally missed that somehow. Haven't really been on the internet much this week so it just slipped by me.Laley23;1442978 wrote:He has been to Oregon, Georgetown and Duke already, is at KU now. -
The Answer
You are correct on OSU he never made a visit. I believe Matta did meet with him at some point but he has since dropped OSU.Laley23;1442979 wrote:The only other schools I have seen him linked to are OSU and SDSU. The Buckeyes are getting a visit from Tulane transfer Josh Davis who would be a nice pickup that's eligible this year. -

I could create a Twitter account, pose as a UNC fan and say the most ridiculous stuff. IMO, "real fans" don't even both doing stuff like that. I'm not sure any fan base would embrace any of those people.
IMO, just being on and off Rupp's Rafters all day, it's been pretty rational. I've seen it MUCH WORSE with some other recruits. Much worse. -

Tokoto is a major question mark. I've seen some UNC fans sky high on him...others think he will never be a starter.ironman02;1442905 wrote:Without Wiggins, though, I'm not so sure Carolina is a top ten team next year. Their guys will be a year more experienced, and could be really good, but there are gonna be several stacked teams next season. Carolina will be weak at the 3 spot, and they still have no proven big man. I guess we'll see how things turn out.
IMO though, I think P.J. Hairston may end up the best 2-guard they have had under Roy. Better than Wayne Ellington and Rashad McCants.
While UNC has no great center, neither does Kansas, Duke and many other contenders. I'm really not sure you need a 5 who can do more than rebound and foul under Roy.
I'd put UNC right at 8-10 in the rankings. In that same group with Florida, Arizona, Michigan, Syracuse, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, etc... -

At the point, I think Paige is gonna be very solid. He was playing very well at the end of last season, and he'll only get better. Nate Britt is a court general, and can also push the tempo, so he should be solid enough to play a few minutes and give Marcus a rest.Azubuike24;1443026 wrote:Tokoto is a major question mark. Like you said, Hairston could be very special. He was very good at the end of last season, and he certainly has the potential to be an All-American candidate, in my opinion. I think McDonald will be the other starter on the wing. He has proven to be a decent shooter, but he doesn't offer much more than that offensively. Tokoto is as athletic as they come, but he's not much of a shooter. Hopefully his offensive skill set improves over the summer. He's a four-year player, but by the time he's done at Carolina, I think he'll be pretty good. The lack of depth on the wing is what concerns me the most about this team.
McAdoo will be back to playing the 4, and should be much more comfortable in that spot. He wasn't healthy for much of last season, and he was playing out of position, but still averaged about 15 and 7. I think he'll be even better this season, maybe even able to live up to the expectations he had when he arrived in Chapel Hill. Maybe I'm expecting too much from him, but I think that potential is there.
There are plenty of post players, but which one of them will step up? Isaiah Hicks might be the rebounder/shot blocker that Carolina needs, and his offensive game could potentially be pretty good. Brice Johnson can score the basketball, but it's simply a matter of him bulking up enough to play consistently inside. Joel James is a great physical presence, but his skill set is very raw. Desmond Hubert is a good defender, and a decent rebounder, but he also needs to get stronger. Meeks, if he gets in shape, could be a nice player, but I think it'll take him at least a year to be effective. I suppose Jackson Simmons could contribute a few minutes here or there as well.
Overall, I think Carolina is gonna be very good at PG, SG, and PF. McDonald/Tokoto will have to be at least average for this team to have any chance at competing on the national stage, and it might be big man by committee at the 5 spot and backing up McAdoo, but there are certainly plenty of options. -
Azubuike24For them to be great, they will need one of the 3 other Frosh from last year (outside of Paige) to have a break out year.

That's why I said "supposedly." As I said, there are stupid fans from every team in the country, including Duke, UNC and Kentucky.Azubuike24;1443020 wrote:...and who is to say he's a UNC fan?

Also, whether the person is an actual fan or not, you've seen worse than someone reaching out to a recruit and saying, "You're a piece of pigfucking shit and I hope you die in a plane crash on your way to Kansas"?
As for whether or not "real fans" would do something like that, I guess it depends on what your definition of a "real fan" is. My guess is that a lot of the tweets linked above directed at Andrew Wiggins came from some of the most devoted, loyal-to-the-core fans of each respective fan base -- the kinds that misguidedly mistake the success of their favorite team with the sum value of their life. Then again, those people could also be called sociopaths. -
Laley23Social Media (especially Twitter) has given people a false sense of connection to others who have no clue who they are. Its dangerous in a way. They get attached and then hide behind their keyboard because they can directly "talk" to them. Thats when you get stuff like this...
I highly doubt many were fake. My guess is they are mostly real, in the heat of the moment, tweets. -

I meant I've seen even some of the more rational UK fans (and overall portion of the fan base) freak out a lot more over losing a recruit.reclegend22;1443067 wrote:That's why I said "supposedly." As I said, there are stupid fans from every team in the country, including Duke, UNC and Kentucky.

For instance, the SAME NIGHT UK signed Noel last spring, Shabazz picked UCLA. He got crushed, more so than Noel got celebrated. When Xavier Henry picked Kansas over Kentucky, that was pretty big too. -

Agreed. I'd say almost all are real. Even with the amazing, amazing access we have received with social media, it has also become something the NCAA, IMO, has no ability to police. The NCAA is lame, but they have attempted to police social media. It's a lost cause. There is no way to do so. There is no way for a school to protect themselves from the actions of "associates of the program" like the NCAA refers to.Laley23;1443070 wrote:Social Media (especially Twitter) has given people a false sense of connection to others who have no clue who they are. It begs the question? Where do you draw the line between this and someone who is legitimately able to affect the outcome of a recruitment or has serious financial influence? -

Oh I agree 100% about the preseason and thats all that matters with the ranking. I was just tossing the on the court thing out there in generalwildcats20;1442899 wrote:And the preseason ranking is all about on paper. -
Azubuike24IMO, I think Louisville will be preseason #1. While Dieng and Siva are losses, I think Harrell and Jones are very good replacements. They also have some depth developed from last year. Hard to ignore the fact that they return a great scorer in Russ Smith, F4 MVP Luke Hancock, Chane Behanan, Wayne Blackshear, possibly Kevin Ware and a few other reserves who saw time last year.
Given the failure of UK's young team this year in-terms of living up to rankings, I'd bet it's 1. Louisville, 2. Kentucky, 3. Michigan State, 4. Duke, 5. Kansas. -

This is exactly why I think handing UK the unanimous pre-season No. 1 is not realistic, especially now that Andrew Wiggins has decided to play elsewhere. On paper, it is still a team of yet-to-be-proven high schoolers with a couple of solid returnees. Don't get me wrong, if the incoming talent lives up to expectations and Cauley-Stein and Poythress continue to blossom, then the Wildcats will be a legit top two or three team and a leading candidate to cut down the nets in 2014. But there is definitely more of an unknown factor with them and a team like North Carolina than there is with Louisville, Michigan State or Duke.Azubuike24;1443153 wrote:IMO, I think Louisville will be preseason #1. But I agree with Az's projections of what the early Top 25 will be. Louisville, UK, Michigan State, Duke and Kansas, with Arizona pounding on the door. -
SportsAndLadyIf this is the Jayhawks' starting 5
Selden
Wiggins
Greene
Ellis
Embiid
The average height of the starting lineup would be 6'8" 1/4
God damn lol -
reclegend22Still in awe that Self landed Wiggins from what seems like out of nowhere. Although, obviously KU was a leader all along. That retard from Jayhawk.com was right. Lol. Is that guy bragging big time, Sports?

R something? Aka Matt? Dude is loving life lol
A lot of people are saying its because of mclemores success as a one and done that persuaded wiggins to join Self.
