2013 recruiting chatter

reclegend22Is Wiggins expected to meet with Cal, Self or Leonard any time soon? If not, you'd have to think that's a great sign. I don't know what that means, though, meet... Is Roy going to visit Wiggins at his house?
-
reclegend22I think Laley brought up a really great point earlier in this thread when he stated that Kentucky might not be a great fit for Wiggins since the Wildcats do not play in one of the two or three premier conferences against the best of the best -- at least compared to how many good teams are in the Big Ten, ACC and Big 12 compared to the SEC. Kentucky is in a unique situation in that regard. It's arguably the greatest college basketball program of all-time, but it's stuck in a conference that is so far behind the times that it's borderline irrelevant (besides for Florida).
An interesting thought. Will that factor into Andrew's decision at all? If it does factor into it, then you have to think going to UNC to play against Jabari Parker twice is going to be the deciding factor. These guys are natural rivalries and you can just feel it when they meet. I can't wait for the Nike Hoop Summit. -
ironman02
Wiggins is at the Nike Hoops Summit in Portland this week. I'm not sure where the meeting will take place, but it's supposed to be next Monday from what I've read. Calipari visited Wiggins before the McDonald's All-American game. Pretty sure he hasn't had visits from Self or Hamilton recently.reclegend22;1426468 wrote:Is Wiggins expected to meet with Cal, Self or Leonard any time soon? Azubuike24Bill Self "met" with Julius Randle a day or two before he announced for UK. Randle later said he really felt UK for a few months now.
I actually tend to think these last minute "meetings" from coaches are not a good sign for the school he coaches at.
Logic being, if Wiggins was a lock for UK or UNC, why schedule a meeting to confirm this? Either Wiggins is uncertain and they are making their last sales pitch, or they are aware he's leaning FSU and are trying one last time.
I mean lets be real guys. How many decisions in life, even very tough ones, ones that are clearly weighing on your mind 24/7, do you really not have ANY CLUE what the decision will be? I know myself personally, if I think about it long enough, I'll at least be able to confidently tell you which way I'm leaning. Now, pulling the trigger and actually committing forward is another thing, but when he says "he has no clue what he will do" has to be false. It's human nature. You always know in your gut what you would do if life depended on it. -
reclegend22^^I certainly hope you are right. The reasoning there is sound, so that gives me great hope that you are right. ABC.
With that said, I just cannpt wrap my head around the kid choosing Florida State. As you've said before, it really makes no sense. In any regard, other than meeting girls. Which he can do anywhere. I mean, who cares if his mom played track there in the '70s? Is that really relevant in any context? -
ironman02Self is supposedly meeting with him the day after Roy. Azu may be right because you don't hear about Hamilton making any final pitch.
-
Azubuike24Then again, what the hell is Hamilton even going to pitch? FSU's great basketball tradition? His tremendous coaching ability? His/the school's fabulous track record with elite recruits? None of this. In fact, Wiggins doesn't have to probably meet with LH at all because it's quite possible that LH is absolute irrelevant as to why Wiggins would go to FSU. Clearly. I mean really? Leonard Hamilton?
SMH...FSU! -
reclegend22FSU being a player in this is very bizarre.
I wrote them off a long time ago. I personally think it's more of a general courtesy thing -- not that he is required to do this -- since his parents went to school there. The same could be said of Tyus Jones listing Minnesota among his final choices, or number one recruit in the class of 2014 Jahlil Okafor naming DePaul as a finalist. Never gonna happen. I mean, Jabari Parker listed BYU among his top four choices simply because he is Mormon. Lol.
Maybe Wiggins to FSU will, but it'd be a very odd choice. Downright strange. -
Azubuike24Yep, it's like the chick stringing along the average joe but knowing in the end, he's got no shot with her.
If that dude has any brains, he loses that bitch before the months and months of stress...(unless of course he's getting something out of it along the way, which FSU isn't from Wiggins). -
ironman02Message board chatter suggests that Hamilton will also be meeting with Wiggins soon. Maybe Wiggins has given each coach one last meeting and Calipari's was a couple weeks ago. My paranoia suggests that he has already decided on Kentucky and is basically being courteous to the other finalists who have put in the time and effort to recruit him.
I'm sticking with my prediction. It's Kentucky. -
reclegend22
Seems like a colossal waste of time. Apparently Hamilton has never heard of Western Union lol.ironman02;1426936 wrote:Message board chatter suggests that Hamilton will also be meeting with Wiggins soon.
I'm not saying that's why FSU is still in the picture, but that might be why FSU is still in the picture. Haha. (Kidding.) -
ironman02All the roster pieces are in place at Carolina now with the return of McAdoo. Bullock is gone, and will certainly be missed, but his absence provides the perfect opportunity for Wiggins. Previously, Wiggins, Bullock, and Hairston (along with McDonald) seemed like a bit of a log jam on the wing. If Wiggins is everything he's advertised to be, he would have got plenty of playing time, but now there are more minutes to go around with Bullock's departure. Kentucky is extremely talented, but Carolina has a really good team coming back. The addition of Wiggins would make them title contenders.
Paige/Britt
Hairston/McDonald
Wiggins/Tokoto
McAdoo/Johnson/Hicks
Hubert/James/Meeks
Walk-Ons: Luke Davis/Jackson Simmons -

Isn't Stillman back this year? Or next? -
ironman02I think he'll be back after next season. Gone two years.

Laley23Does anyone know ANYTHING about Jaren Sina???
He crossed off Alabama from his list and is down to Indiana, Seton Hall and Northwestern. I like the Hoosiers chances here, but have no clue what this kid is like on the court (other than a PG). When Remy Abell transferred, Crean decided he needed a backup PG and has gone hard after Sina. Hadnt even recruited him until about 10 days ago. -

Didn't Abell transfer because of the scholarship limit? How's he going to take Sina? -
reclegend22I don't know anything about Sina, but, if he is good enough for Indiana to go after (even if they are only doing so out of necessity), then I hope he chooses Northwestern. I'd really like to see Chris Collins put together a nice first class in Evanston.
The big key for Collins for next season will be basically recruiting Drew Crawford to stay a Wildcat. If he can do that, then I think Northwestern can at least compete in some Big Ten games similar to this year. Crawford is a great player. -
Laley23
Nah. I mean, technically we are still at 13 right now. But Maurice Creek has used up his eligibility. Im sure there is a spot for him as the 13th if we dont get Sina, but otherwise Creek has to be gone. He is graduated, and will be a 5th year. Hasnt played a meaningful minute since the tragic injury versus UK his FR year. I love the guy, but he is done at IU if they can get a player who can actually step out on the court.Terry_Tate;1427156 wrote:Didn't Abell transfer because of the scholarship limit? Laley23Here is the (non-updated) scholarship page for IU. Mike Pegram is on the AAU circuit right now and hasnt updated in about 5 days.

Stupid internet people.Azubuike24;1427213 wrote:Haven't there been rumors of Ferrell transferring?

His mom said something about an unfortunate shake-up and there were tweets and rumors of a shake-up. It seems like it was just all about Remy. But 1/3 of the fanbase hates Tom Crean cause they dont think he can coach, so they all spew shit like that on the message boards.
Anyway, Yogi has posted like 4 videos since then about he and Hanner having a dunk contest (it was one sided lol) and shit with the other guys in the practice gym. Id be utterly stunned if those rumors were ever 1% true. He has always been a Hoosier kid since he was a SO in HS and has never seemed to waver or want to transfer. I think it was all made up. -
Azubuike24That's what I recall. He was IU's guy really early on. I remember his quote last year before the MCDAA talking about how he dreamed of going to IU and couldn't wait to start college...
-
Laley23
The Crean haters pointed to the fact that Yogi and Cody were extremely close friends throughout HS/AAU ball (Cody did say staying for his 2nd year was never in doubt cause he wanted to play with Yogi and that this year was the only time he would sit down and think about leaving) and since Cody left that Yogi would be "upset" and want to leave. I just laughed.Azubuike24;1427225 wrote:That's what I recall. He was IU's guy really early on. Laley23Since I posted the unupdated one. Mike Pegram got back this morning and has it updated now. Also of note, Abell wants to rescind his transfer and come back and Jaren Sina will be on campus next week lol
