2013 recruiting chatter

ironman02Also, been hearing some rumors that Hairston, Bullock, and McAdoo might ALL leave early. If that happens, I'm not watching basketball next season. Carolina won't be very good at all, and Wiggins certainly won't want to join that. lol
-
Azubuike24Here's the thing. There is some intrigue on who returns for Carolina. If everyone is back, adding Wiggins puts them as preseason #1. I don't care about UK, Duke, MSU, Arizona or any of the others. He's that good. Read this article...
http://www.usatodayhss.com/news/article/andrew-wiggins-adapts-to-attention-as-college-decision-nears
He smiles. Silence. Blank stare. Hesitation.
“But I just want to end by saying that I love all the schools," Wiggins says matter-of-factly. "They’re all the same. At the end of the day, I just wanna play ball, man. I just wanna win at all costs. I wanna win a lot next year.”
And by a lot.
Pending who returns for UNC, if this is AT ALL the truth, it's Kentucky or North Carolina. He's not going to do it at Kansas or Florida State. Even if the team had the potential to contend for a Final Four, they aren't flirting with being unbeaten... -

He can't win at Kansas?
Huuuuh? -
Azubuike24Let me rephrase it.
He CAN win at Kansas. He CAN win at Wichita State. He CAN win SOME at Florida State.
Is he joining a team with a chance to go undefeated with ANY of those? I don't think so. At a fully-returning UNC or UK as is right now, he is.
My opinion...you can disagree -
Azubuike24And let me say this...if it's at ALL believable, why doesn't he immediately DROP Florida State?
-
SportsAndLadyKansas isn't returning a bunch of scrubs though..they're still going to be a top 25 team without Wiggins.
No team is going undefeated in a 30+ game season. No way. -
Azubuike24It's more of me just not completely buying what the kid is saying...nothing personal against him either.
It's like an NFL player weighing a contract offer from 3 or 4 teams, stating that winning is all that matters...yet 1 of those teams is the Browns or Raiders...hogwash. -
Azubuike24BTW...Kennedy Meeks in the MCDAA Game. SMH...

It sounds as if Roy thinks they are all coming back.
He said they are much, much closer to having all 3 come back than they were last year. And they are waiting to have 1 announcement. -
Azubuike24Nick Wiggins on Twitter, has Tweeted a lot about his brother. He seems to not be sure UK is the best fit with so much talent there.
Hopefully, he's able to focus off his bro's recruitment and focus on the game tomorrow! He needs to step up.
Haven't heard anything about FSU. I'm not sure they have any basketball fans. If they do, how many even care?
If UNC returns everyone and gets Wiggins, wow. Then you have UK's roster. Then you have Duke's roster. Talk about powerhouses. Returning teams Arizona, Michigan State and a few others as well. An incredibly strong 2013 recruiting class will put some other teams with very strong squads as well. -
reclegend22As the results of Kentucky's last two seasons have shown -- one a national title and the other an NIT loss to Rob Morris -- the Calipari experiment is not an airtight plan. There were three critical -- and absolutely necessary -- components that led to UK's title win in 2011-12. Firstly, the stars of the freshman class lived up to the hype. Secondly, there was a good mixture of experienced returnees to blend in with the newcomers. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, each member bought into the concept of team and put the success of the unit ahead of individual gain.
This year, none of those components were present and Calipari's all-chips-in-the-middle strategy failed. Next year, it seems that at least one of those components -- experienced returnees -- should at least have a good chance of being there, with Willie Cauley-Stein, Alex Poythress and Kyle Wiltjer all returning to Lexington. Whether or not the freshman class lives up to its mythical billing -- remember Harry Barnes? -- or if each individual part will buy into playing for the good of the team and check his ego at the door is still up for debate. If either of those two components is missing, there is a good chance that UK will be nowhere near as good as the early hype indicates they will be. Talk of an undefeated season at this point is vastly premature.
Full disclosure: I do not want to see UK do well next year. Haha. -

I hope you are still hearing these rumors. lolironman02;1419224 wrote:Also, been hearing some rumors that Hairston, Bullock, and McAdoo might ALL leave early. Yep, Roy's comments today sound pretty encouraging. Hopefully we know something definitive next week.wildcats20;1420279 wrote:It sounds as if Roy thinks they are all coming back.

Meeks has a chance to be a good player, but before that can happen, he needs to get into shape. He kind of reminds me of Sean May, but just not as skilled. Carolina's strength and conditioning coach is one of the best in the business, so with a little time, hopefully he can mold Meeks' body and make it possible for him to achieve his potential.Azubuike24;1419459 wrote:BTW...Kennedy Meeks in the MCDAA Game. That said, he probably shouldn't have been an All-American, and he's a long way away from being a solid contributor at Carolina. Three or four years from now, hopefully he will have panned out. -
Azubuike24Agreed. He just looked so out of place in that game.
Interestingly enough, I actually like the new NCAA deadline being very early to withdraw. I think it really forces guys to take a serious look at their stock and weigh options on what they want to do. There isn't as much time to have people buzz into your ear, there's no risk of eligibility and it seems decisions are easier than before. -
Azubuike24Dominique Hawkins committed to UK today. He will be on scholarship. That's 8 rides committed to the 2013 class alone...
-
ironman02
So that means there is one scholarship left, right? That's assuming Noel declares and Polson moves back to walk-on status.Azubuike24;1422740 wrote:Dominique Hawkins committed to UK today. He will be on scholarship. That's 8 rides committed to the 2013 class alone...
By the way, why hasn't Noel declared? -
Azubuike24Yeah, I don't get it. One left, yeah.
There's some guy on one of the KU boards who apparently is convinced KU is now the leader and that Wiggins wants to play with Nadir Tharpe and Wayne Selden.
I can't see it, but.... -
ironman02
This thing is a circus. I read stuff like that every day. One day he's a done deal to UK, the next he's going to Carolina or Kanas, then the next day his parents are steering him to FSU. I'm exhausted...this needs to be over. lolAzubuike24;1423135 wrote:Yeah, I don't get it. One left, yeah.

Latest thing I heard from a Carolina perspective is that McAdoo, Bullock, and Hairston will be making their decisions tomorrow. Then, sometime this weekend, Roy will be meeting with Wiggins. This seems like the Calipari visit before the McDonald's AA game. That is, if it's even true. There are Carolina "insiders" that are pretty trusted who are in complete disagreement about Wiggins, as well as about McAdoo/Hairston/Bullock. There's even one of Wiggins' family members or a close friend on the Inside Carolina board who insists that Wiggins is still conflicted and won't decide until May. -
reclegend22Wiggins isn't going to declare until North Carolina's trio of players has made its decision about turning pro or not. That's the hold up. Unlike other infamous recruits in recent years, Wiggins doesn't appear to be the type of kid who needs to stage a five-ring circus on the day he announces. That only means that he is waiting on the status of the returnees at his schools of choice.

SportsAndLadyAzu--you talking about the Wiggins thread on the Shiver? I wouldn't put any faith in that board. They throw out a LOT of rumors.
Side note: there's a poster by the name of Black N Mild...he now posts by the name BROJAYHAWK...on KUsports.com (my favorite KU board). This guy is an absolute MUST follow, even for non-KU fans. He literally cannot put together a complete, or sensical sentence. But he's literally almost always correct lol it blows my mind.
Here are some of his posts on that thread:
AM STILL THINKING WIGGINS GO ELSEWHERE INTELLED HE SAID EVER WISEON HERE WEB SITE
It's funny because people actually go to him for information, because like I said, he's usually right, but it's like asking a 5 year old girl how Exxon's stock will be in 6 months. You feel awful asking a 5 year old, but she's going to be right.LET NOT GET ARE HOPE UP GUY IT NOT OVER TILL MR WIGGINS SAY IT IS -
SportsAndLady
lmaoYou don't come on this board and talk [censored] to blackmild he's a board legend. You only hear him. You need to listen to him. Wiggins to UK. Book it. -
Azubuike24Yeah, I can't think of the guy's name off hand, but it's on The Shiver. I usually only go over there when someone mentions the board on one of the other UK boards or CBB boards I follow.
I also think he's the same guy who claims "something changed in the last few hours of Randle's recruitment." I generally hate those types of backtracks, especially when this guy called Randle a done deal to KU for 2 weeks before the announcement. Almost implying that he was paid or something at the last minute, otherwise he was sold on KU. I mean, c'mon with that bullshit.
I'm pretty sure nobody knows anything on Wiggins. We can probably find links on every board to show someone saying he's a lock to every school, or is no longer considering every school. As I said earlier, he's achieved what every recruit hopes to. Despite his every move and every word being followed, nobody has ANY inside info... -
Azubuike24There was a guy tonight on Twitter who quoted XRM (Wiggins' teammate at HP and best friend, also committed to FSU) and posted that Wiggins had decided it was FSU. It's the first flat-out, "done deal" I've seen from anyone in the media.
Wiggins Tweeted like 20 minutes later that nobody knows nothing unless you're "in his family."
A) What's that say about his brother's Tweets?
B) It shows that clearly he's following (and probably loving) all the scrambling and desperation for news on his decision. -
EnforcerDoes Ohio Sate have anything good coming in this year or next?
