2013 recruiting chatter

Haha, that's how I felt about the Notre Dame-Louisville four or five overtime game (or whatever it was). After three overtimes, I felt that since nobody could close the deal, neither team deserved to win at that point and turned it off. Plus, Notre Dame is one of my Five Most Boring/Unbearable to Watch Teams in college basketball so I hate watching them. The other four are Pitt, Purdue, Alabama and Marquette. Marquette can go fuck itself.

I haven't made a hate list in awhile. Feels good.

    No Wisconsin?

I realize I am in the minority, but Bo Ryan's style of play is refreshing. While some negatively characterize the Wisconsin offense as methodical and plodding, I find beauty in all of those skilled big men effortlessly drifting inside and out, demonstrating pinpoint passing, perfectly executed dribble hand-offs and deadeye long-range shooting. There are often four forwards 6-6 or taller on the court at a single moment who can make a shot from anywhere. When rolling on all cylinders, it's pretty basketball. I know Laley is often overcome with so much excitement when watching Wisconsin play that he has to take an NSAID to stop his head from exploding.

The reason I hate the five teams I listed above isn't so much because of style of play. Pitt basketball, for example, just sounds and looks stupid, if that makes sense. I hate the coach, the colors and just generally everything about it.

There's a Kentucky fan claiming that Wiggins faxed in his LOI to UK today. Could just be another dude looking for attention on a message board, but sounds about right to me. Announcement will be early next week, I would imagine.

You much catch Wisconsin on the 3 times a year they are "hitting on all cylinders"... lol

There is nothing beautiful about missing shots all game. Their passing and offense might work 90% of the time, but when you score under 45 consistently, you are failing at the biggest part of the game.

Haha. Well, much of the offensive philosophy Bo Ryan employs is contingent on dictating tempo and limiting the other team's possessions. So, of course, a product of that approach is low-scoring games. Wisconsin's best three outside shooters last season -- Bohannon, Dekker and Brust -- all hovered around 40 percent from three-point land. They are more than capable of filling up the nets on any given night. Personally, I don't think there is a better big-man shooting team in America most years than Wisconsin.

I get that we differ on this, and neither will ever change our minds.

Now the word is that UK possibly has admissions paperwork for Wiggins, not an LOI, and may have had this paperwork for quite a while.

Wouldn't he have to apply to any of the schools that he was thinking about attending?

I need to stop holding out hope and just come to terms with what I have really suspected the entire time...it's gonna be Kentucky.
  • reclegend22
Yeah, it's Kentucky. I thought maybe, just maybe, Wiggins had more originality than that.

Yeah, I think it has been Kentucky all along. I've been saying for months that this thing is being orchestrated by Calipari to draw attention to UK and to make it appear as though he got the best of Williams, Self, and the family favorite. It's smart on his part, but it's gonna create three pissed off fanbases for sure. Maybe I'm paranoid, and hopefully will be wrong, but I think this has been a done deal since Wiggins reclassified.
  • Mulva
This season won't even be worth watching if Wiggins goes to UK. The only storyline will be whether they go undefeated.

If anyone wants to come down and see a game I could probably get you some cheap tickets. Otherwise I'll likely be selling them for a couple hundred per game.

The complaining about "sales" of tickets for Big Blue Madness and the Blue/White game has already begun...

I almost want UNC to get Wiggins now. Ha.

Sh--. As a Duke fan, with a team next season that will arguably be as talented as any in Durham in a decade, I don't know what I want.
  • SportsAndLady
I don't understand how people can say they want him to go anywhere but Florida State.

How could you not say you want him to go anywhere but Kentucky? Fuck Kentucky. Their style of one and done's is a fucking joke and I hate them.

    That is all :D
  • reclegend22
Yeah, I am already tired of the UK domination talk. It's as if they've signed Godzilla and nobody will be able to stop them. Mulva pretty much hit it on the head above. The only story next year will be Calipari and his one-and-done strategy (which, as we saw this past year, isn't nearly as slick as he thinks it is). If Wiggins picks Kansas or UNC, it's fine with me.

When Kentucky was down for a few years, they were kind of out of sight, out of mind to me. Now that they have moved back into the limelight, I find myself rooting against them almost as much as I do Duke. I guess when you're a fan of one of the blue bloods, your enemies are always the other premier programs. With Kentucky's history, support for the program, and now Calipari's recruiting, they're tough for anyone to handle. I don't like it one bit. lol

I don't know what the hell to expect from Wiggins this coming week. To me, it has been Kentucky all along, but I'm not even sure Calipari is devious enough to create such a circus and so much misdirection. This has been one of the craziest recruiting processes I can remember. If it's Carolina or Kansas, I'll be much more surprised than if it's FSU (who is somehow the favorite according to some of the latest rumors).

    Wichita.

I brought this up a month or two ago on a couple of different boards, but nobody ever gave it a notice. I don't know if you actually think this or are just saying it, but I wouldn't rule it out.

With Andrew Wiggins, Wichita State would be one of the select few favorites to win it all. And to top it off, he'd be playing for a title alongside his brother. What could be better than that?
  • SportsAndLady
Be so great if he went to Wichita lol

    Are you being serious?

It would be pretty crazy if he picked them to go play with his brother, esepcially while acting like he was never seriously considering them. That would certainly "shock the world" like his brother said a few weeks ago.

After this year-long Blue Blood recruiting war, it'd be amusing as f--- lol.

Wiggins announcement is 12:15PM on Tuesday. Supposedly no presser.

    Not good for Kentucky :D
  • Azubuike24
I was serious about Wichita. I said it back when Nick first Tweeted the "shock" the world. It was before Wichita's Final Four game.
  • Azubuike24
Honestly, if there was a press conference, I wouldn't put it past a few hundred UK fans actually finding their way into that circus. There are some nuts out there who would make the trip because Huntington is pretty close. Not to mention, the number of media members who would request access.
