  It's pretty clear though jordo that Jim Tressel by all accounts, runs his ship on integrity and honesty. We can argue back and forth about whether the perception is reality or not, and in the end it doesn't really matter. That's the soapbox he guides the ship from. Would you say that you've been happy with the results? I sure have. I'm also pretty damn happy with the type of people the program produces (for the most part).
  
  Point is, he's going to put Boom Herron in because he returned and paid his debt to the team, his coaches and the NCAA. It's not 100% about the best productivity from the RB position. Coaching isn't always about the W, Woody Hayes loved his guys and they loved him even though he was a real sob at times. Tressel seems to have found a way to get that return respect from his players in the same way Woody did given the PC atmosphere. I wouldn't ask him to change for .8 yds. per carry more and he wouldn't for 2.5. That's why recruits still come, and so do the wins.
  
  It will mean a lot to Tressel for the guys that come back and take their punishment like men and not scurry off to the league, and when they're 64 years old flipping the coin at some random bowl game in the future, they'll tell the story of how important a decision it was for them to stay that year and they have Jim Tressel to thank for it.

  I agree that he does try to run his ship on integrity and honesty, and I like that about him. (He did take somewhat a hit for the way he and the athletic department handled NCAA violations though).
  
  I just find it funny that we are lauding Tress for his integrity and honesty, while at the same time suggesting that he is going to plug somebody back into the lineup (regardless of Hall and Berry's production) who didn't practice integrity and honesty.

  JaJuan Story didn't come last week because OSU moved it to this week so they could hire a WR coach before he visits.
  
  Vaugnters says he is sticking with stanford, all the stanford commits are taking a visit this month on the same day he says he is not going to decommit before then.

  I haven't seen anything, but JaJuan Story's recruiting visit was postponed from last weekend to this weeked for OSU to get their new WR coach in. I have seen speculation on rutgers WR coach coming but that is about it.

  Junior center Michael Brewster said today he will return for his senior season at Ohio State.
  “I want to be a leader on this team in the 2011 season, and I think I’m ready for that,” Brewster said.
  Leadership for the 2011 Buckeyes is in a state of flux at the moment, with five junior stalwarts – quarterback Terrelle Pryor, running back Dan Herron, receiver DeVier Posey, left tackle Mike Adams and defensive end Solomon Thomas – facing a five-game suspension to start the season, though OSU is in the process of appealing those suspensions.
  Personal improvement is also one of Brewster’s goals, even if he was named first team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America this season.
  “This was really my first season understanding how to play center,” said Brewster, a third-year starter who was a high school All-American tackle in Orlando, Fla. “I made a lot of progress, and I think I can make that much more progress with another year at Ohio State.
  “Then I think I will be really ready for the NFL. I think it will make me that much more confident about making the step to the next level.”
  NFLdraftscout.com had rated him No.1 out of a 74 possible centers who could have been in the 2011 draft.
  Along with being named All-American by the FWAA, he was voted first team all-Big Ten by the media that covers the league, and second team all-Big Ten by the coaches.
  The five juniors who are facing suspensions all pledged to coach Jim Tressel back in December they would return for their senior seasons, a prerequisite for their being included on the trip to the Sugar Bowl. All five said after the win over Arkansas in the bowl that they plan to honor the pledge, though Adams also said he’s interested to see whether the NCAA will cut the length of their suspensions. All five are allowed to work out and practice with the team.

  Part of the "plan" is for The Five to get enough Reps when on suspension, so it will be obvious who should be playing when the suspensions are up. Those getting playing time in the first few games will still see the field. The Ohio State offense will have more depth. We've seen how important that is with all the injuries to the DBs this year. If the younger players who will play in the the early season gams whine, I PROMISE YOU they will be put in their place by the Seniors. IF they are truly better than The Five, they will play. I've never played on a football team when a player started that wasn't the best player at the postion. AND players on the team know just as well as the coaches who the best players are.
  
  There are reasons Tressel has had a Top 5 team 7 out of his 10 years at Ohio State. One of the most important is SENIORS and the vast majority of underclassmen understand they wait their turn. There are a few 5 Star recruits that come in and start early, but not many. Ohio State has very few players who transfer because they don't play right away. The ones that do see they probably won't play at all. If a good job of recruitng is done every year you should always have a bunch of Senios and Juniors starting every year.

  Probably been talked about earlier but Dorian Bell broke team rules and was suspended for the Sugar Bowl and is suspended for the opener of 2011. That now makes 7 out for the season opener....face palm.

  doh. I was hoping he would be a starting LB next year. It was going to be hard enough for him to beat out Storm Klien, now I think he won't.

  Same with Whiting. I think both Bell and he were going to get their shot next year, along with Sabino and Klein. Bell and Whiting both being out definitely puts them at a disadvantage when it comes to the LB competition next year.

  You haven't paid much attention the past 10 years. Unless you're a stud Freshman, a 5-Star, #1 at your position in the country you wait your turn, unles there are injuries or someone isn't practicing like a starter. It's all about Seniors, upper classmen, the next player in line, growing up and becoming a man by the time you leave Ohio State. IMO you're giving Hall WAY too much credit. He's even smaller than Herron. He's not the down hill runner Tressel really likes. There is no way he can handle 25 -30 carries per game. He will always be a complementary back.

  In 32 career games, Herron has had at least 25 carries in a game once.

  Exactly, he's shared carries with Saine. He isn't a stud tailback, but he's bigger and stronger than Hall. There will be 2 tailbacks sharing craries next year.

  I think Berry and Hall will get a 1 series minimum a game when Herron returns. If Berry and Hall dominate the first 5 games I could see boom getting 10 or less carries the rest of the year.

  Boom weighs 200 lbs and Hall weighs 195 lbs. Let's not act like Boom Herron is built like Beanie Wells.
  
  Nevertheless, I think it is obvious that both Berry and Hall will be getting touches next season. I'm sure Roderick Smith will probably get a few opportunities as well. I don't think anybody is saying one guy will get every single touch. Just that the guys behind Boom are extremely talented and they might make Boom's life difficult after he serves his time

  Going by the roster Herron is 7 pounds heavier and an inch taller than Hall. Herron looks bigger than that and Hall looks smaller. Herron runs A LOT harder than Hall.

  Maybe... I don't know though. Hall only got limited touches as a RB last season. We'll get a much better look when those guys get their chance next season. Not saying Herron will be buried on the bench when he returns, but I think you are seriously underestimating the talent that is behind him. If I am Herron, I am sucking up to Tress all off-season

  I'm not underestimating anything. You're forgetting Tressel's loyalty to Seniors. In this case Seniors that made a promise to Tressel and have made good on those promises, that could have easiy been recinded for NFL money. There is no doubt in my mind those serving a suspension will get considerable reps in practices.
