Ohio State 2011 Off-Season Discussion

Wilder doesn't even have OSU as an interest yet.

OSU is stacked at the RB position Berry (RS) and Hall, Smith and Hyde which one will RS probably Smith, along with Boom for one more year.

I'd rather focus on getting OL/DL help along with a couple 4-5 star QB's before RB's and even WR's.

I agree. One of those guys plus DePriest, Sturdivant, and someone else would be stellar.

I highly doubt we can land Bridgewater.

Also, don't forget that the safety Cash from Florida who is already an OSU lean would be a big OOS splash as well.

Wilders wants to play RB but should be a LB or DE. Kid is too big to be a RB, but that is where he wants to play. Ohio state offered him, but like you said I don't think he has interest and we are good at RB.

Russell Shell is the next great RB we will get.

Doesn't Bridgewater go to Jacory Harris' HS? I figured he would be a pretty strong Miami lean.

    This is what I want:

2 QB - Miller and Jones both too good to pass up
0 RB - unless tranfer or Boom leaves early
    3 WR
2 TE - Koyak would be awesome
5 OL - Need to secure the big 3 in state (Walker, Clark, Bennett)
    3 DT - Harley is a must
    2 DE - already have
    4 LB - DePriest is a must
    3 S - Cash, Tanner, Hardy (CB/S)
    1 CB - Grant
    0 K/P

    That's 25.
Barclay and Boren are Walk-ons and we only have 2 open from this year, so 19 is the number of scholarships open at the moment. I see a class of 20-23 for 2011.

Ive read that Jeremy Cash and Ron Tanner could commit soon.

Why does JT only let a set number of kids visit? I think OSU only had 27 visits this year, I think you are allowed aroud 50 kids to visit. Just wondering?
  • Lovejoy1984
I know Ohio State has quite a few in-state or local kids that come in for UnOfficial visits, which is basically paid for out of pocket.
  • se-alum
It sounds like Miller may commit as soon as next week, and be the Brewster of the 2011 class. This is per BuckCrazy!, who is about as inside as it gets on Bucknuts.
  • OneBuckeye
There was a story by BK on bucknuts that Cash wanted to commit in the next couple of weeks too.

Have any of these guys verballed yet? I know a verbal means very little, but was just interested..

No but that is what is being speculated that they will give their verbal.

Also FYI Buckcrazy! thought that Floyd, Joyner and Hicks were locks to OSU.
  • jpake1
People actually pay attention to these fools on Bucknuts and Scout? Those guys are wrong more than they're right. Word spreads.. it doesn't take a genious to see mutual interest and say so and so is a silent verbal.

Number one priority for me in 2011 is getting QBs OLs DTs and Safeties.

We already have commits from two of the best defensive ends in the country.
Getting easier for me to follow tOSU recruiting
327 kids from Florida signed D-1 LOI's this week.

btw, you guys are NOT getting Wilder

  • UA5straightin2008
    a receiver who is 5' 6", 150lbs really?
  • jpake1
The kid can play some football.
  • UA5straightin2008
just doesnt seem like he would be able to cut it at the WR position at one of the top football universities in the nation being that he is so short, it would be easy for a CB to outjump him to pick of a pass

is he being recruited solely to return kicks?
  • jpake1
That's why I doubt he'll be going vertical much. They'll find ways to use him, he's a good player.
  • UA5straightin2008
i dont doubt that, there are plenty of good players that are small (darren sproles 5' 6" and ray rice 5' 8") but sproles has a good 30lbs on him and rice a good 60 lbs on him...just seems like kind of a stretch to me

and they are both RBs.. I would figure he would be a returner and possibly time at the slot running cross routes, quick outs, etc.

Kind of reminds me on the James kid Florida had.
  • big_hits24
Wilder looks like he could be a beast of a linebacker or Defensive End! This is him in high school...imagine him 15-20 lbs more and hopefully either keeping his speed he has or get a little faster.
  • Tinkertrain
I'd imagine Wynn would be looking to go to a spread type of offense more than pro-style offense. Even at that size he could be a pretty good slot-dot in the right offense.
