jpake1Very nice pickup for OSU. Keep them rollin'.
-
WriterbuckeyeI am very impressed with how the staff has focused on both lines so far during this recruiting process. Welcome Mr. Bennett!
-
QuintBennett had offers from Alabama, Florida, and USC. . . this is a great pick up!
-
OneBuckeyeBennett was the biggest must have besides b miller in this class. He will be huge.
-
mucalum49Buckeyes picked up commit #14 today from Joel Hale. 3* DL according to Scout. Had offers from Florida, Michigan, Penn State amongst others

QuintJames Vaughters is announcing on Thursday. . . I think it is between OSU, Stanford, and one of the Georgia schools (Ga. Tech or UGA, I can't remember).
-
captvernfrom what i have read he will pick Stanford. I would love for him to be a Buckeye
-
OneBuckeyeWr devin smith got an offer today and will be a buckeye very soon.
-
OneBuckeyeDevin Smith commited. Good pick up.
http://ohiostate.scout.com/2/977552.html
Ohio State has accepted the commitment of Massillon (Ohio) Washington wide receiver Devin Smith, the 15th commitment to the Buckeyes' 2011 recruiting class. Smith, one of the top prospects in Ohio, received his offer after an impressive performance at Ohio State's senior camp. Bill Greene has the story on Ohio State's latest commitment.
Devin Smith has become the 15th commitment to the 2011 Ohio State recruiting class, when the Massillon (OH) wide receiver notified Buckeye head coach Jim Tressel of his intent.
"I have committed to Ohio State," Smith stated. "It's where I've always wanted to go to school, and this is a dream come true. I notified Ohio State today that I wanted to be a Buckeye."
As a junior, Smith had 989 receiving yards as a junior, and scored 15 touchdowns, in helping lead the Tigers deep into the Ohio playoffs.
Scout.com will update the Smith commitment soon, with more quotes from the latest Ohio State recruit. -
se-alumIs Vaughters still making his announcement today?

mucalum49ESPN Insider update on DePriest
It's been long thought that the Tide were the front-runner for four-star LB Trey DePriest (No. 35 in the ESPNU 150), but ESPN affiliate Bucknuts.com is hearing more and more that DePriest is pretty much a done deal for Alabama.
One Bucknuts staffer came away with that impression after recently speaking with DePriest. A teammate essentially confirmed as much. Two other sources -- one close to the DePriest camp -- also echoed that sentiment, while another claimed DePriest has already given Bama a soft verbal.
Now, as we saw with Texas-to-the-Pac-10, nothing is done until it is in fact done. But with all these sources linking DePriest to the Tide, it certainly seems as if, at the very least, Alabama has a substantial lead.
Why hasn't DePriest announced? The thinking is that he will be heckled relentlessly during his senior season if he turns his back on Ohio State, so he's holding off on his announcement until National Signing Day.
That gives the Buckeyes plenty of time to try to change DePriest's mind, as long a shot as that may be. -
se-alumLooks like Vaughters committed to Stanford. Can't fault the kid for making education an important part of his decision.

Yep its official. Vaughters sounds like a stand up kid from his statement in the article. Wish him the best at Stanford

WriterbuckeyeIt's more than a little concerning that OSU has (apparently) lost the best linebacker in the state two years in a row. Last year wasn't as much of a surprise because Hicks wasn't originally from Ohio and didn't grow up wanting to play for the Buckeyes...he ended up "going home" essentially.
That's not the case here -- so if DePriest goes to Alabama, then Ohio State will possibly have to redshirt one of the better LBs now on the roster to extend the talent, hoping to make up for it next year or with an unexpected out of state signing. What was once a very deep position for this team will not be that way in a couple years if top players continue to bolt the state. -
captvernI think the Buckeyes end up with Depriest. Also it looks like we are in good shape for the top linebacker in 2012. He is from Texas and grew up a Buckeye fan . In his latest update OSU was first and the Longhorns were behind a few schools. ONe of those schools which was A&M which he just visted and gave them a 6/10
-
OneBuckeyeRinger and the Kid from Texas will more than make up for it next year, if we lose DePriest. We are also in the lead for WPIAL stud Caputo(SP), who is a linebacker as well.
On a side note, I read on the scout board that Jamel Turner has been shot again... -
Tigerfan00Turner just needs to be forgotten about, he obviously puts himself into bad situations and makes horrible decisions, not who id want on my team.
-
devil1197Turner will be gone.
OSU is loaded at LB's and sometimes the best coming out do not even start right away (Sabino and Bell).
This class is stacked btw. -
OneBuckeyeWell buckeyplanet insiders are saying he was shot 7 times last night and not expected to make it. It's not about football anymore.
-
Red_Skin_PrideAll over the interwebz today that Teddy Bridgewater committed to Miami...I haven't found a reliable link yet, anyone else hear this? I know it doesn't matter as much since Miller is a Buckeye, but I thought it would be something to post since Bridgewater was another big name OSU was going after.
-
purple_reinTurner's football career is over but that is the least of the worries. I hope he recovers fully and finds a new path in life.
I don't think it's over with DePriest yet but we are definitely the underdog.
Michael Caputo is being recruited as a Star, not a LB..
The top LB recruit besides DePriest is Conner Crowell. If DePriest falls through, I think we at least snag him or Ejuan Price. Tank Sturdivant could end up with an offer as an LB but he will eventually be a DE/DT so that does us no good in solving the future LB problem.
The 2012 kid from Texas (Derek David) has shockingly committed to Texas Tech.
Caleb Ringer will be a must get next year. Another name I will throw out is Michigan LB James Ross who was a Maxpreps 2nd team All American as a Sophomore (103 tackles, 5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 7 fumble recoveries and an interception in his first varsity year).
Teddy Bridgewater committed to Miami about 2 weeks ago. Check Rivals and Scout. -

I thought this happend awhile ago.
On side note... Keith Wells and Duron are gone with means 2 more Scholarships for 2011 or 2012. I am willing to bet Cordale Jones will get one of those scholarships. -

Caputo will probably grow into a LB like Moeller did, no way Tank can stay at LB even if he is offered, kid is massive and too good on the LOS.
Derek David said he committed but "is still wide open" This is far from over IMO.
Couldn't agree more on ringer and Ross.
