LSU went from having one 5* to having three 5* players.
Nevermind, they just posted team rankings also.

OneBuckeyeAccording to the guys on buckeyeplanet Stan Drayton is the new WR coach. He has always been a RB coach according to Rivals, I wonder how that will work out. He is supposidly a good recruiter.

Coming to you live from our Forever Lazy on a cold January morning, welcome to your Wednesday Skull Session, ladies and gentlemen.
Do you like rumors? You do? Good, because a doozy of one began appearing on various Buckeye message boards yesterday related to OSU's open position to coach the team's wide receivers. Not long after Darrell Hazell accepted the top job at Kent State last month, P.J. Fleck's name started to pop up as a potential replacement. The former Northern Illinois wide receiver spent 2007 in Columbus as an offensive graduate assistant and seemed like a shoe-in to fill the spot, but word is Stan Drayton, currently the running backs coach and assistant recruiting coordinator for Will Muschamp at Florida will be coming to Columbus.
Technically, the position is still open for four more days, but one source we trust is saying he has already interviewed for the spot and will be named the new wide receivers coach on the 23rd.
It's an interesting choice for a few reasons, primarily because Drayton just accepted a position on Muschamp's staff and he's been a running backs coach for most of his career, but he is also a Cleveland native and has experience working with receivers from his stint as the offensive quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers from 2001-03.
Drayton held the same position on Urban Meyer's staff from 2005-07 before moving on to Tennessee for the 2008 season and then on to Syracuse to coach the running backs in 2009. Bringing him in would obviously help with recruiting in the southeast and his pro experience coaching special teams (also with the Packers) would help a staff that struggled with coverage last season.
The bottom line is that this is one of those things that's so far out there, it almost has to be true, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

se-alumDoesn't sound like a bad hire, if in fact it is true.
-
september63Anyone notice Michigan is actually making some good hires? A few more years and they might get competitive again?

there's a thread dedicated to this subject--take it there

september63Relax there dude. I am a Buckeye fan. We arent allowed to discuss whether Michigan is making good moves or not?
-
vball10setI'm very relaxed--dude....why would you discuss whether they're making good moves on this thread when there's one (on a sticky, no less) specifically for topics like yours? what purpose would it serve??
-
september63The purpose it would serve is this. Im interested to see what Buckeye fans think of Michigans moves. Id rather not just discuss this with UM homers!
Side Note: Until a Mod suggests I not ask a small question like that here, Ill continue to ask whatever I want. -
vball10setwhatever...dude

j_crazyi like the michigan moves, and i said as much on their thread.

OneBuckeyeSam Longo apparently has asked for and has been granted release from the program. I did not see that one coming.

WriterbuckeyeThere are always a few surprise transfers during any given year.

sounds like he was CUT for not playing good enough. Now tOSU can oversign another new recruit.
seriously, you guys can have Drayton. Good recruiter, esp. in Florida for you, but Meyer never had a 1000 yd RB and we were confused why he was rehired, other than his recruiting. Azzani is good, from Cent. Mich. , but our WRs sucked last year. -

the easy answer could be that tebow had 40% of the carries and the others were split between several backs/WR. -
dat dudeFor those who may have been concerned, Jaamal Berry has confirmed that he is not transferring and will be back next year. Should be an exciting first 5 games with many new faces getting time at important positions.
-
ytownfootballWas he seriously considering a transfer or was he answering to speculation?

No I don't think he was. He was more of a flight risk last year. -
purple_reinA few updates:
James Vaughters reaffirmed his commitment to Stanford and will not visit OSU.
JaJuan Story is visiting OSU this weekend. Longshot especially with the current temperatures.
Jadeveon Clowney will not annouce until February 14th. He will not be a Buckeye but he is still considered a target.
Bryce Haynes will annouce early next week between Ohio State, Notre Dame, North Carolina, and Harvard.
Sam Longo will be transfering so another scholarship spot will be freed up. -
karen lotzI do believe Scout, Rival, and ESPN have all done their final rankings/ratings of players so whatever the have now is what they will end up as.

This speedofsand guy has become quite annoying. I didn't think it would be possible, but he is sure giving cats gone wild and thedynasty a run for most annoying poster these days. -

I've heard Tressel is trying to get an in home visit with Clowney. -

Only if Clowney comes to columbus for an OV. Not giong to happen. Haynes will probably go ND. We are looking good and supposidly in the lead for Curtis Grant #2 player in country accoding to rivals (and how many subscriptions they want to sell to OSU fans). I think we finish with Grant and Walker and call it a class. -
QuintI agree. I think Grant and Walker will be Buckeyes, and that will close out a great class.
