Why waste a redshirt, development on Miller if Pryor is going to come back, and obviously step in vs Nebraska in game 6. I'd rather see him redshirt, develop him, then he has 4 full years when Pryor leaves. If Pryor leaves this year, then that changes things.
I think Miller will eventually be VERY good. But to expect a true frosh to step in and be great at the position of QB is unrealistic IMO. Some are already doing that.

Next year, I am worried about the Dline. Latimore and Heyward are gone...big holes there. Dline is the foundation to a good defense. That is the major question mark on defense.

I think the D-line will be fine. Simon, Williams and Hankins will be tough. I'm sure one more player will step it up. I also think our secondary will be better next year with Howard, Johnson and a healed up Barnett.

    dont forget moeller!

D Grant committed to OSU yesterday and Gorman went to florida as expected.

Vaunters a LB we were close with before he commited to stanford will likely open his recruiting back up if Harbaugh leaves.

I would be surprised if Johnson gets significant playing time next year. I look for Barnett to come back and reacquire his starting spot in the secondary. Johnson has been the weak link all year.

And I do not expect Miller to be redshirted next year. Assuming he can grasp the offense by enrolling early, he will be the best eligible quarterback on the roster. He may not start game 1, but I bet Tressel will find a way to get him some playing time. There is too much to lose in those first 5 games by not playing the best players.

^^ Let's hope that is the case. I would rather have Barnett Bryant and Moeller covering all safety and Nickel duties. OJ's tackling technique makes me cringe everytime as well.

OJ reminds me so much of Jamario O'Neal. Freakish ability but just not a very good player right now. I remember Jamario got a lot of PT when Russell went down in 2006, but he didn't look too good, especially vs Michigan and Florida. And the next 2 season his PT was limited. OJ is kind of in the same boat right now IMO. he's got to step it up if he wants to be a starter next year.

OJ's technique sucks so bad, that's his biggest problem. And he can lay the wood for sure, but he's a terrible tackler in the open field. Whiffs way too much.

I definitely look for Goebel and Bellamy to both emerge next year. I also wouldn't be surprised to see some true freshman emerge as well on the D-Line.

Any punters or kickers in there?

The ones that we have suck.

Hope your right. But you don't replace a guy like Heyward that easy. And Latimore was a space eater and pretty damn good as well. Nobody mentioned vs Ark...but he had one hell of a game as well. I can't imagine the Dline being as good when you lose those two.

Miller is more of a Troy Smith clone than a Pryor clone....

Found this tweet from Dave Biddle interesting:
Mike Adams will wait for the result of OSU's appeals process before deciding whether to come back for senior season.

se-alum;628631 wrote:Found this tweet from Dave Biddle interesting:

That can't be correct. OSU hasn't even completed its appeal to be submitted to the NCAA. The deadline to declare for the NFL draft is January 15. There is no way the appeal process would be finished by then.

Miller is 3 inches taller, faster and a lot more moves than Troy Smith.

No, the ones we have are very young, they will get better.

With our emphasis on the kicking game....we better hope that they get alot better!!

    Miller isn't 3 inches taller.
  • OneBuckeye
Braxton is 6 2" Troy smith listed at 6'. I'd say about two inches. You know Troy was really 5 11 and Braxton is probably 6 1.
  • vball10set
he's definitely more TS than TP, especially when throwing the ball
  • goodifitgoes
Start Braxton Miller from game 1 on. Move Pryor to WR when he gets back.

Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Terrelle Pryor will undergo surgery Friday afternoon to stabilize a ligament in his right foot after suffering an injury at the end of Tuesday's Allstate Sugar Bowl win against Arkansas.

Pryor sustained the injury on a quarterback sneak late in the fourth quarter. He departed the field after one play and was limping badly after the game.

The junior won Sugar Bowl MVP honors after recording 221 pass yards and two touchdowns and 115 rush yards on 15 carries. He's suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season for selling memorabilia and receiving improper benefits.

Pryor said after the Sugar Bowl that he's not ready for the NFL draft and will honor his pledge to coach Jim Tressel to return for his senior season.

"I've got a lot of learning and better decision-making I have to make on and off the field," Pryor said. "Off the field, I need to grow up a little bit more, mature as well. I just have a lot of growing up to do."

JuJuan Story is visiting OSU today and James Vaunters may decommit from standford with Harbaugh leaving and pick between OSU and Florida.
