purple_reinD Grant and Gorman will both choose at the Under Armour game on Wednesday night.
Grant is down to OSU and Michigan State with OSU being the favorite.
Gorman is down to OSU, Miami, and Florida with OSU and Florida being the favorites. -

OneBuckeyeFWIW who ever is writing the ESPN updates of the under armor game has mentioned in at least 3 seperate updates that D Grant is an Ohio State commit... I think it is 99% chance he chooses OSU over MSU.
-
captvernI have read were OSU leads for both Grant and Gorman. It would be nice to get both of those. I think the number of schollys might be a problem. If OSU gets both of them and Walker i think they are out of schollys with the other Grant and now Vaughters both being high on the bucks. Nice problem to have but i wonder if we oversign this year if it comes down to it. I cant see how you could turn down either one of the LBs . Also It is looking like JaJaun Story is taking his last visit to the bucks in late Jan. and there is big interest there

jpake1If they want those guys, I think the staff takes them. Let's not forget the small handful of guys that will transfer out like they always do. I have HEARD nothing, but with the situations these young men are in, I can see Clarke and Berry transfering because of depth, as well as another guy or two for whatever reasons.
-
OneBuckeyeClarke and Berry will definately not be transfering. I think you are more likely to have Boom and Adams and maybe posey leave early and that is where you get the ships. All of them are not going to commit to Ohio State, there will be room.
-
jpake1I guess we disagree, I just don't see those guys PUBLICLY telling Tress they will return, then lie about it. I'm sure NFL teams will only look at them worse, but its the NFL, they would still get a job. But they would also get ones with 8 more games to possibly play in after the suspension. Berry may not see many carries. Hall seems to be ahead. Smith may come on strong. He's in practice, so I'm sure he'll be able to tell more than anybody if people are passing him up. I don't know if it'll happen, but I imagine he'll be 3rd or 4th come big ten season. Clarke got some time tonight and that may give him confidence, but Brown was out, and with an offseason, he may gain the ground. Diontee Allen may jump him with his return to eligibility. Somebody even like Bryant may turn out to be more of a nickle or corner than him. Young kids overreact, so if some big time recruits commit here at the end, they may freak out. I haven't heard anything, but I wouldn't be surprised. They're very talented kids, but aren't in the mix to be handed jobs (if there is a thing at OSU) and may think their best bet at the next level is a yaer or two more at another school. I think all of the guys will stay at OSU that are suspended. If they don't, the NFL will look down on them and they will NOT have an alma-mater. They'll be announcing their HS on MNF games.

krambmanThere are 240 days left until the start of the 2011-2012 football season and only 325 days left until The Game.
Should be an interesting off-season for the Buckeyes having to replace a lot of key seniors and the five suspended players for the first five games. -
jpake1It will be interesting. You do what you can, guys all the guys ready for their roles. The star juniors should look forward to battle for scout team honors for a couple weeks. The staff needs to get the others ready to win games. I think the biggest thing is this-- get the online ready a bit quicker. The online usually plays slow in OOC games. However, come b10 season, they like to rush for 200+ the last handful of games. They need to come with that mentality to begin with. With that being said, they need to stay healthy to begin with. They're usually battling injuries in the early season here and there. The staff also has to have a sense of urgency. They won't have all their horses, so they have to get a bit "gimmicky" to win the first handful of games. I'm hoping the players carry a chip on their shoulders throughout the offseason and come into the season ready to give hell. The thing I'm looking most forward to besides who will acually play QB is what WR, if any, will step up. I'm hoping Philly can get some swag and at least be a threat with a high average the first couple games.
-
Cleveland BuckThey better get Guiton ready to go. Bauserman should never see the field.
-
Pick6whats the defense look like? we lose i know we lose heyward.
lbs we lose homan and rolle i believe
secondary should only be chekwa and torrence? maybe hines -
OQBBraxton Miller will get valuable playing time those first 5 games and will keep us on track for a BCS game.
-
hoops23One thing is for sure, the young secondary got some major growth this season.
-
believerMost if not all of the Tattooed Five will still bolt to the NFL.
I hope so. Why? It'll allow Tress & Staff to concentrate on the reload rather than figure out how to come up with 2 game plans and hope the team doesn't skip a beat. -
tcarrier32I think a good question to ask would be how Colorado and Michigan State are doing in their off-season(s). Those are the two teams that may be competitive (probably will be) and OSU will not have the suspended players when they play them.
Losses earlier in the season are harder to overcome at the end of the year, but if OSU have a year similar to this one that would once again "ruin" the season if you will. -
OneBuckeyeMy 2011 Starters

LG: Hall
LT: Adams
TE: Stoney OR Fragel

WLB: Bell
MLB: Sabino

FS:C. Brown or C. Bryant

D Clarke and C Bryant showed played well for being put on the spot last night. The single most important position change next year needs to be Shugarts to Guard. I want Hall Norwell and Adams at the tackles. -

This won't happen, even though it wouldn't bother me if they did...and if your going to continue to insult these guys, please, call them the Tat 5-- it sounds better -
OneBuckeye^^ Only time will tell. C Clarke and Bryant showed they could do an acceptable job last night though. I am worried about Corey Brown transfering the most he should be a safety but they have him at CB and he is getting buried by the other guys. This kid was a stud at safety in high school. I hope he finds his way on to the field.
Regardless, a great season and we have plenty of talent, it will just depend on who steps up.
Tonight is an important night for OSU too. As D Grant and Gorman are announcing. Rumor is that Gorman is staying in Florida and will commit to the Gators. Not surprising but at least OSU was in it till the end. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeBryant looks like the real deal. I was very impressed with his coverage skills last night.

OneBuckeyeMy 1st game starters for 2011
QB: Give them all a try
RB: Berrry or Hall
FB: Boren
WR: ??????
WR: Brown
RT: Norwell
RG: Shugarts
C: Brewster
LG: Mewhort
LT: Hall
TE: Stoney OR Fragel -
OneBuckeyeI am sure Thomas and Pryor will be back. The other three may leave, but the loss of Posey and Adams would only be ones that truely hurt. We have talent everywhere just little experience. Pryor brings those intagibles and even after 3 or 4 games off gives us the best chance to win at QB. I am all for breaking Braxton in, but there is no reason we can't win every game next year. The Miami game I think will be our most difficult without Pryor.
-
Scarlet_BuckeyeI gotta be honest.... we lose last night's game game if (A) we didn't have Pryor OR (B) Arkansas had any wide receiver(s). OSU is VERY lucky to be walking away with a "W" last night. With that all being said, however, OSU sure faced it's own adversity as we were already down two starters in our secondary and lost two more last night (Chekwa with a broken arm and Hines who kept cramping up).
I think this team will be fine next year. I think half of the "five" return. I think Pryor and Posey bolt, while Adams and Thomas return; and Herron is a toss-up.
As for our Starters next season, I think it will look something like...
QB Kenny Guiton first few games / Braxton Miller remainder
RB Rod Smith (spelled by Jordan Hall)
FB Zach Boren (Adam Homan)
TE Jake Stoneburner (Reid Fragel)
WR Corey Brown
WR Chris Fields (James Louis)
LT Mike Adams
LG Marcus Hall
C Mike Brewster
RG Jack Mewhort
RT J.B. Shugarts (Andrew Norwell)
DE Nathan Williams
DT Johnathan Hankins
DT John Simon
DE Solomon Thomas (Garret Goebel)
WLB Dorian Bell
MLB Storm Klein
SLB Etienne Sabino (look for Scott McVey to see some time in the LB core as well)
CB Travis Howard (look for Christian Bryant to rotate in at the corners)
CB Dominic Clarke
FS C.J. Barnett (look for Orhian Johnson to rotate a little)
SS Tyler Moeller
K Drew Basil
P Ben Buchanan
Returns Jordan Hall
This team will be just fine. If we can escape the first five games with only one loss, look for another BCS Bowl birth. -

This could be a blessing in disguise for the Bucks. We have a stable of backs and with a uncertain QB situation we will probably look to establish the run early in the year. Also, I'd like to see Jordan Hall in a Shot-Ginn formation w/ Smith and Berry as our top two backs. That would be a true Thunder and Lightning combo.
