LOL. ok. -

I second this.
My history with motorola phones:
2003 Motorla V60i - had battery issues, spent 3 months of my 1 year contract without a phone because of them needing the phone to repair
2005 Motorola v270 - had battery issues, replaced the phone 2 times in my 2 year contract because new batteries didn't fix the issue.
2007 Motorola RAZR V3 - had the phone 2 days when it completely shit itself, don't know what happened but the screen quit lighting up. I could call and text, but had a black screen so I couldn't see what I was typing, or who I was calling/calling me.
Swore off Motorola phones at that point. -

Can't argue with the trouble Motorola had with feature phones in the past. But to try to swear off one of the top smartphone manufacturers based on issues you had with feature phones in the past is silly, IMO. Just like it's silly to come to the conclusion that Motorola can't make a phone to save their life based on a bad device and a refurb phone that was acting goofy.
Motorola's sales speak for themselves. Motorola has proven they make some of the best Android devices on the market. But if you want to continue to hold the RAZR and other phones from when cell phones barely had color screens against Motorola, be my guest. You will definitely be missing out on some of the best smartphones out there because of it. -
gport_tennisThe droid x is motorolas best phone right now for verizon. I see droid 2s all the time acting up in my store. Its kinda sad because its the only high end droid with a slide out keyboard, I almost feel bad when people get it because I know they probably will have issues with it at some point

j_crazymy buddy has a droid x and loves it. never had a problem with it as far as i know. so maybe sherm is right and it was just that generation of phones was craptacular.

JawbreakerI currently don't use a Motorola phone but I have been impressed with their build quality as of late.

How? I'm 0/4 on Motorola devices. -
sherm03
Disagree. X2 is Moto's best phone at VZW. And the Droid 3 is coming soon. You won't have to worry about customers getting the 2 much longer.gport_tennis;792989 wrote:The droid x is motorolas best phone right now for verizon. You only mentioned 2 devices in your post. One new that was acting up, and a refurbished model that had GPS issues. -
wes_mantoothI have had poor luck with moto as well, I prefer htc. With that said, if motos phones have better specs than the htc when I am eligible for an upgrade....i will give moto a shot.

Oh you're right.
I originally mentioned 3 in my post, then cleaned it up. I had a Motorola phone on AT&T that refused to charge, then the two duds. I guess I'm 0/3. -
OneBuckeyeI still have my original droid and have had 0 issues. Will be getting the X2 or Droid 3. I would like to see some speed tests for those compared to other dual core's before I buy though.

I Wear PantsThey do ruin everything with shitty Motoblur.

I'd be OK with Motoblur if it improved upon stock android, but it simply does not. It offers no new functionality, so it is unnecessary and bloated. -

Same here. Had mine up until about a month ago when I upgraded to the Thunderbolt. Had it for about a year and a half with no problems at all. -

I am definitely not a fan of Blur. Well, I should say that I'm not a fan of the regular Blur. The MotoBlur that was on the Cliq, Cliq 2, and Atrix is NOT the Blur of the future. The bloggers have called the new version Ninja Blur because it is mainly running in the background. It takes up much less memory. And runs a hell of a lot smoother. The Droid X and X2 are perfect examples of Ninja Blur and THAT is the software that will be on most devices going forward. -
wghfanThe Samsung Infuse for AT&T is getting some high praise. Does anyone have one?

Scarlet_BuckeyeNow that the iPhone 5 is all but officially being reported to be released the second week of September, what does everything think about the chances of it being 4G LTE compatible?
At first, all the reports were saying that the iPhone 5 would NOT be 4G LTE compatible because of the negative effect on battery life [i.e., 4G LTE sucks a battery's life like Dracula, supposedly]. Now, reports are coming out that signs are pointing to the iPhone 5 being 4G LTE compatible due to AT&T looking to acquire T-Mobile and the recent marketing campaigns pushing 4G networks by major wireless providers. It would seem to be an unwise decision to release anything at this point that isn't 4G LTE compatible.
Thoughts? -
gutI think the main reason it wasn't released in late June/ early July as in the past is because of production issues in Japan. The CFO said back in Feb or so that it wouldn't be 4G. I think it has very low probability of being 4G until the next model next June or so. Also, I don't know if it's lack of phones or lack of coverage, but 4G isn't the huge selling point right now everyone thought it would be (the average user doesn't use nearly enough data to care about the higher speeds). Although it could be AT&T's version of 3.5G (HSPA+?). That's about as good as I would expect it to get.
Got my eyes on the Bionic coming out from VZW. Although there are (were?) rumors Samsung's GalaxyII phone was coming to VZW would be LTE based on a VZW tweet, which curiously was corrected, so take that to mean it won't be LTE. -

I don't believe this next iPhone will have 4g.... We'll see soon! -

The Photon 4G is expected to ship with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) along with some impressive specs such as a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of on board memory with a card capacity of up to 48GB, 8-megapixel HD camera with a front-facing VGA camera, all underneath a beautiful 4.3" qHD display.
As with other emerging devices the Motorola Photon 4G will sport a kickstand on the back for improved media viewing. The capability of 3G/4G mobile hotspotting for up to eight devices will also be a feature that puts the Photon 4G above its competitors. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeI just can't fathom anyone putting out any new phones that are NOT 4G. I mean, everywhere you look, SOMEONE is releasing a phone and it's 4G! Why would someone invest in something that is just going to be outdated in a year? Yeah 4G isn't big right now, but anyone who tries to deny it's presence, say a year from now, is a damn fool!

Substitute in dual-core processor for 4G in that, and the statement is still true. -

I couldn't fathom anyone putting out a phone without MMS messaging but AT&T and Apple did that with the first two iPhones. -
wes_mantoothI am holding out for a quad core processor and 6g.
