Disgusted with Trump administration - Part I

It's really hard to tell honestly. Liberals like to hyper dramatize everything and play the victim card at even the slightest wind that runs their way making it really hard to tell whether they are actually hurt or just trying to buy sympathy points in the identity politics game.O-Trap;1823312 wrote:Look, I think the guy's a hapless ass clown who has demonstrated himself as a self-interested narcissist.
But does anyone actually think there's going to be a notable difference in day-to-day life, for minorities or otherwise, as a direct result of him being elected as president?
I'm sure there will be some minor fuckery. Giuliani would hardly be a person I would trust to avoid a mass surveillance state, for example. And Gingrich is a greedy fuck stick that would sell his grandma for the right price. Someone will find a way to make life less convenient on everybody in some minute way.
But there won't be open season on ethnic minorities. There won't be a a mass export of any ethnic or religious group. LGBTQ communities will still be able to share in all the misery of the typical American marriage.
I feel bad for the people who genuinely feel unsafe now, but it pisses me off that someone decided to manipulate the information those people were getting which resulted in them feeling that way.
With that said, Trump is such a wildcard and his ego makes it really hard to predict with potentially devastating consequences. Until we get a better sense of how he's going to manage the Presidency, we won't know the impact on minorities(or hell, everyone). If he acts like he did on the campaign trail and tries to apply some of his insane policy plans, then yes my day to day life would be affected. -

I really dont seee that happening. As I said before, even though he has the majority in the senate and hor, those senators/reps have one thing they hold more dear than blindly following the Pres, and that is getting reelected in 2/4/6 years. They cannot get too far off the reservation and still serve their constituents. Plus, many werent that fond of him anyways. It isnt going to be as easy for him to get shit through as many would think.sleeper;1823318 wrote:It's really hard to tell honestly. Yeah, I wasn't directing that toward you. But some of the shit I'm seeing today is blowing my mind. It reminds me of the 2008 election, when all the doorknob-humping rednecks were saying we were going to have a full-blown socialistic state. People need to slow their damn roll.thavoice;1823313 wrote:No, and I have been saying that for years. There are people I know personally who aren't playing the outrage card, but do genuinely seem scared. I feel bad for them, and I don't completely blame them. But the blame lies in the hands of those who incited such fear.sleeper;1823318 wrote:It's really hard to tell honestly. My point is that he won't be the first president in my lifetime to hold office using the same platform with which he ran for it. He'll simmer down and adhere more to the norm of what presidents do. He'll piss people off regularly. He'll do things many people like. He'll neglect to fulfill campaign promises, just like every winner in the last few decades at least.
He may bring a small level of difference to the way things run, but I doubt there will be a shockwave felt by you and I. -

He will be like the rest of the Presidents in that much of what he said he was going to do will go by the wayside. Not that it was an outright lie during a campaign, but once you get into the office and start figuring out that getting shit done isnt as easy as you think it would be, and sometimes...damned near impossible.O-Trap;1823330 wrote:Yeah, I wasn't directing that toward you. AutomatikWhen will we get the plans for this wall? I'm eager to get that project started or will it be broken promise #1?

Yeah, its not being built.
UNLESS, a terrorist attack on a large scale is perpetrated in the SW USA and it is 'proven' the culprits came though the open border.
So, basically, and this is to those tin foil hat wearing fuckers, less than a year into his presidency he sets up a terrorist attacked like Bush did on9/11 so he can get that wall built... -

People were manipulated to believe he was a racist/bigot/homophobe/xenophobe/whateverphobe and those same people now truly believe they will be hunted down or go back to the 1800s in their "rights". That is truly sad that our Media and the DNC did that and I truly believe that BS was a huge contributing factor to why Trump won. People were tired of the lying BS in the media and just wanted someone else.
I have a cousin, who bless her heart is a nice person, but can be a moron. She truly posted this on FB "I want to thank all Trump voters for allowing rape and sexual assault to be ok in our country. I truly am worried for my daughter that any boy will now be allowed to come up and assault her."
I just left the post alone because quite frankly it is obviously a touchy subject with her (she was an assault victim while an adolescent) but seriously, how did the media truly convince people that if Trump is elected rape will be basically legal? -

Moron or not, I don't totally blame her. That has been a portion of the narrative. On some level, I would hope for some critical thinking, but even those who know that this won't be true have a portion of her camp who believe the opposite of her "because Fox News/Breitbart/Washington Times/The Hill said so."jmog;1823355 wrote:I 100% agree with everything said here.

If Obamacare is repealed in its entirety 22 million people lose health insurance e.g. My Trump voting mom who didn't know her subsidized blue cross/blue shield plan from Healthcare.gov was part of obamacare.O-Trap;1823312 wrote:Look, I think the guy's a hapless ass clown who has demonstrated himself as a self-interested narcissist.

I am rooting for the liberal new yorker to surprise me and be a unifier but I expect some will be worse off just as with Obama. -

The ACA is mostly safe. It obviously needs some serious retooling, but we're too far down the rabbit hole at this point to straight up repeal it.BoatShoes;1823369 wrote:If Obamacare is repealed in its entirety 22 million people lose health insurance e.g. My Trump voting mom who didn't know her subsidized blue cross/blue shield plan from Healthcare.gov was part of obamacare. I mean, I hope it does. I can no longer afford mine and am going to have to downgrade the amount of coverage to compensate for the cost, but I don't think it's getting out-and-out repealed. -
AutomatikThe Donald's first 100 day plan making rounds. Not sure how I missed this when it was first released...

End Illegal Immigration Act
Fully-funds the construction of a wall on our southern border with the full understanding that the country Mexico will be reimbursing the United States for the full cost of such wall; establishes a 2-year mandatory minimum federal prison sentence for illegally re-entering the U.S. after a previous deportation, and a 5-year mandatory minimum for illegally re-entering for those with felony convictions, multiple misdemeanor convictions or two or more prior deportations; also reforms visa rules to enhance penalties for overstaying and to ensure open jobs are offered to American workers first. -

They will if he can credibly threaten to end NAFTA. It's bad policy in either case, but he does have levers he can pull to force payment..jedbartlet02;1823400 wrote:Mexico will NEVER pay for it
That also provides cover. He can delay the start of the wall because "Mexico hasn't agreed to pay yet [but they will]". Then he'll end-up claiming they offered a better deal, and that's what he [Trump] does. He used it to negotiate a better deal, and oh we really fleeced them because of X, Y and Z we don't even need the wall any more. -

well everyone else is doing it mom!!!!
Also China has made strides to address global warming with its cap and trade program, so lets try to be honest. -

ptown_trojans_1Policies on climate change are dead. The Paris agreement is dead.
Two things I like so far.
Emphasis on a huge increase in infrastructure spending and the fact he will honor our commitments to South Korea. -

Could it be that I think a true global effort is needed to address the issue effectively???
Nah, it had to be poor logic.
