Disgusted with Trump administration - Part I

It's a bummer you think I am uneducated and haven't done any research, but that is simply not true. I am a Republican, too. There are many reasons I didn't vote for Donald Trump. Who I believe he is as a person was just one of those reasons.SportsAndLady;1823206 wrote:Shocker, someone who screams "trump's a bigot and racist and sexist!" Doesn't actually know the facts of their accusation.
I don't like Trump. Hell I'm a republican who voted for Hillary. But I don't like trump because I don't believe he'd be able to accomplish anything as president. Not because CNN told me he was a bigot/sexist/racist. -

I don't know. Pence could have a say on if it does, and so could the Supreme Court again.fish82;1823207 wrote:That's not gonna happen. Jesus, people.
If Obamacare goes away, you need something actually to replace it with that will also pass both Houses. Sure Ryan has a plan, but can he gets the Ds on board, or will he force feed it through?Crimson streak;1823209 wrote:Obama care will be as good as gone. And another thing that will thankfully be gone is the common core bullshit. Should definitely help with our education. I don't think nafta will be gone, but I do believe it will be tweaked to help benefit us more. It will definitely be an interesting 4 years but it's time for some charges and hopefully they pay off.

Common Core, I don't know enough about it, but that seems like a more state and local thing.
If he even tweaks NAFTA, are we ready for the short or medium term impact of prices of everyday goods increasing in price, as the negotiations are going on? Rates would go to WTO levels and items would probably get an increase of 5-25% more expensive depending on the item. Suddenly the trip to Wal-Mart and Kroger gets a little more expensive.
Also, if he opens up that can of worms, who's to say it does not start a trade war with other countries, like Canada or China? -
FatHobbitI am concerned about all the stupid shit he said. I don't think he is fit to be president. The only thing I've ever agreed with Clinton on is when she said "we owe him an open mind and a chance to lead." I'm just not very optimistic until we see what he does.
-
ptown_trojans_1I'm also interested on how this extreme vetting will work? How exactly is he going to do this without violating the Constitution? Congress had better hold hearings with DHS and others to fully explain how it will work if he goes that route.
Oh, yeah and there is the whole wall thing.
Is he really going to do it without it turning into a cluster? -
Con_AlmaAt what point do we begin to value the rule of law that our country is based on?
If people don't like the "wall", I'm open to ideas that will enable us to better enforce the laws we have in place that we currently aren't able to enforcing as they relate to our porous border and immigration. -

Funny I asked myself the same question regarding the Iran deal.ptown_trojans_1;1823218 wrote:How exactly is he going to do this without violating the Constitution? -

Quite honestly, that is what should be done no matter who was elected. I am older than most on here, and the doom-and-gloom everyone is talking about right now (which would be similar if HC was elected) has been hashed over pretty much all the time, especially when a new President was elected. It doesnt matter who was elected throughout the years I always give an open slate to see what the president can do as our commander-in-chief, the leader of the free world, as our president. If HC was elected, I would be doing the same thing.FatHobbit;1823217 wrote:I am concerned about all the stupid shit he said. I don't think he is fit to be president. If you dont go into something, almost anything, with an open mind then it is ruined from the start. Whether it be an event/restaurant/movie you really did not want to attend, if you start it with a piss poor attitude then there is not much chance to changing it.
Lets see how it goes in electing someone that isnt an insider and not a career politician. Many people said over the years that is what we wanted, right? (but just not this one....).
If you cannot go into the next 4 years with an open mind then you really are not better than the bigots/racists you claim the other side of the isle is built upon. -

Fair point. The Senate decided to treat it not like a treaty, and thus, just needed a simple majority.majorspark;1823223 wrote:Funny I asked myself the same question regarding the Iran deal. -

This is what has kept me going from going insane. I will give Trump the benefit of the doubt, and will listen to his views and policies. I am just really interested to see what people he puts around him, how he uses them, how much power he will cede to Congress, and really, how much of the campaign speak was just that, speak? -

Here is the thing...we are not a dictatorship. Even though the R have the senate and HOR, the President can only lead us astray so much without the help of a lot of other people. Those in the senate and HOR still have their main duty at hand, which is getting re-elected. They will only toe the company line so much until they realize that if it is really stupid and crazy they know they have to answer to there deeds every 2 or 6 years.ptown_trojans_1;1823229 wrote:This is what has kept me going from going insane. Pence was just put on the ticket to give the religious-right something to vote for. If he speaks out of line, Donald will probably give him five across the eyes and tell him to STFU.ptown_trojans_1;1823214 wrote:I don't know. Funny thing is, I can see Trump in a meeting just saying that. -
like_thatlol I was wondering when this thread would pop up.

The Treaty that's not a Treaty king of like the mandate that's really a tax but not really it's a mandate?ptown_trojans_1;1823226 wrote:Fair point. The Senate decided to treat it not like a treaty, and thus, just needed a simple majority.
Funny how they will decide what to call something one day to make it easier to pass the Senate, SCOTUS, whatever, then the very next day call it something else. -

Pretty sure "if Congress don't act. I will." may not be a good idea.ptown_trojans_1;1823229 wrote:how much power he will cede to Congress -

Lol when did I say you were uneducated? You keep saying you know who he is as a person. You said I do not know the facts, which to me is akin to saying I am uneducated. If that's not what you meant, so be it. I said who I believe he is as a person is one of many reasons I did not vote for him. I have stated who I believe he is...in fact you said I have screamed it.SportsAndLady;1823287 wrote:Lol when did I say you were uneducated? You keep saying you know who he is as a person. I am not sure what else there is to say on the matter. We agree that Trump sucks. If you don't think he is a racist bigot, okay. I believe he is. -

O-TrapLook, I think the guy's a hapless ass clown who has demonstrated himself as a self-interested narcissist.
But does anyone actually think there's going to be a notable difference in day-to-day life, for minorities or otherwise, as a direct result of him being elected as president?
I'm sure there will be some minor fuckery. Giuliani would hardly be a person I would trust to avoid a mass surveillance state, for example. And Gingrich is a greedy fuck stick that would sell his grandma for the right price. Someone will find a way to make life less convenient on everybody in some minute way.
But there won't be open season on ethnic minorities. There won't be a a mass export of any ethnic or religious group. LGBTQ communities will still be able to share in all the misery of the typical American marriage.
I feel bad for the people who genuinely feel unsafe now, but it pisses me off that someone decided to manipulate the information those people were getting which resulted in them feeling that way. -

No, and I have been saying that for years. Your happiness, success and well being has to do with whom looks at you when you look into a mirror, not the person in the WHO-Trap;1823312 wrote:Look, I think the guy's a hapless ass clown who has demonstrated himself as a self-interested narcissist.
