Nice comeback. As usual, you have nothing. To expect Gordon to come back in and "dominate" when the guy hasn't played consistently in FIVE years is ridiculous. He's admitted himself his route running has been less than spectacular. His scouting report, out of college, has said the same. He hasn't PRACTICED in Haley's new system and he's just going to step on the field and be "superstar" right out of the gate? Doubtful. "If" he stays clean, I'd expect him to be getting into the fold after the bye week.

You, like most of the fan base, are living in a fucking dream world thinking he's doing to "dominate." Also not taking into account who will be throwing him the ball (mediocre QB with bad long ball skills).

And TBH, I really don't care what Jarvis Landry said about his route running skills. Since Landry's been here he's been a cheerleader for this team, making comments like "we're going to put up 40 on our opponents" and touting Tyrod Taylor like he's going to have a career renaissance. TT is what he is, a middle of the road QB, who isn't good at throwing the ball down the field (especially across the middle) who is "safe" with the ball (will take a ton of sacks versus throwing the ball) who won't lose you games, or win them, for you.

Other than Kizer, who here is saying he will be going back to being dominant?  GOD FORBID some of us have hope he will return to form when he is consistently with the team every day.  Big difference between hoping he returns to form and stating it as a fact.  It doesn't change the fact that your route running comment was ridiculous.  He might have lost it from the lack of playing time (we shall see), but his route running was excellent.

It's safe to say you have been bitter about Gordon since his first suspension.  None of us have been happy with how his career has turned out so far, especially after his break out season.  Just sit back and see what he does.  We get it, you are very skeptical that he wont fuck up and be productive.

Edit:  Also, to place most of the blame on Gordon for that 2014 season spiraling out of control is fucking absurd at best.

Awesome. Can’t wait for him to dominate.

He’s referring to this comment. Wasn’t even a prediction lol just happy to hear he was back and threw out that comment.

Once again, BR takes one sentence and completely takes it out of context and goes into his senile rants. I can post 5 comments he’s made in the last 30 days on this board where he comes off completely uneducated on a subject. It’s not just browns football. Guys losing it.

Again, he hasn't practiced in Haley's system and hasn't been running routes.

"He’ll be back to what he was when he was the best in the game." << this is funny and just as ridiculous to label him as being back to what he was when he was the best in the game after a 5 year layoff.

Oh wow!!! He hasn’t practiced in a new OC’s system?! He’ll completely forget how to run routes now!!!

I’m pretty sure he was here for mini camp so he has gotten some bits of Haley’s offense. It’s not like Gordon was in a rehab sitting on the couch and eating potato chips. The dude was working his ass off everyday down in Florida.

It seems, to quite a few here, that he's going to just step back on the field and not miss a beat....like he's never been gone. I guess what I'm trying to say is for people to temper their enthusiasm. Do I hope he comes back as his "dominant" self? Of course I do. It only helps the team but there are quite a few factors to consider before assuming this and it's not just on Gordon.

Gordon's strengths are running TWO routes...a slant and a go. Other than that his route running leads a lot to be desired. Tyrod Taylor will thrive throwing slants to him all day but unless JG's taking those to the house, his deep ball production is probably going to be effected by TT's lack of consistency in throwing an accurate deep ball.

With more reps, I'd expect Gordon to look closer to his old self but to expect him to come right back and be the "same old, same old" is wishful thinking, imo.

I'm not rooting against the guy at all. I think we all know where I stand on being able to trust him. I think he may finally get his shit together because he's forced to,  preferring to not be in jail (child support) versus being there.

Again, this is absolutely false. I feel like you're basing this off the fact he had big plays via streaks and the slant route (like most big time WRs do) and somehow you associated this with the fact he can only run those two routes. He wasn't a one trick pony like Torrey Smith. It's like you're holding it against him for making big plays out of simple routes.  He was heavily praised for his route running that season, I don't know what to tell you other than find film from that season and watch him.

As for the "quite of few in here," I still don't know who you are referring to.  I think the consensus is most of us are happy to finally have him back and hope he will return to form.  We all weren't born last night as Browns fans.  We are well aware it is not smart to assume Gordon or ANY player is going to come out and dominate for the Browns.  If there is a fan base that has been humbled it is us.

Your posts just come off as you obviously setting yourself up for the inevitable "i told you so" posts, if Gordon isn't that productive or fucks up again.  It is duly noted you don't think we will have the Gordon we had in 2013.   Are you going to be obnoxious about it week to week depending on his performance?  If that is going to be your approach, I hope you also comment if he does well.

No "I told you so's" because that's just too low hanging fruit if he fails. Chances are probably greater that he'd fail than succeed so no need to beat that dead horse.

With this receiving group, there will be more than enough receptions to go around, another reason I don't think he'll have explosive numbers. Between Landry (perennial 100 catch, 1000 yards receiving), Njoku, Duke, Callaway (who I think will play a bigger role) and Higgins (also like the Ratley kid), I don't expect gaudy numbers from any receiver, also part of the reason I don't want Dez (like the receivers they have).

If Gordon has gaudy numbers, it's likely someone else's numbers will take a hit, and that will likely be Landry. Landry's playing the good soldier now but it will be interesting to see how he acts if say he drops down to 70 catches & 700 yards.

If he balls out, I'll be more than glad to admit I was wrong, just like I did on Weeden. If he crashes & burns, it's expected so no need to pile on.

Back to football and away from Days of our Lives....

Sounds like EJ Gaines tore his ACL today in practice. Wonder if this means we'll sign Breeland.

Just saw that it’s just a sprain and he’s only expected to miss 3 weeks. So that’s good news.

One of the things that's really exciting, about what Dorsey has done, is that there really aren't going to be many holes to fill on this team in next year's draft/free agency. On the offensive side of the ball, maybe a LT (Bitonio back to LG, maybe slide Corbett to C) and a WR. They can load up on stud defensive players, especially on the D-Line. Don't think this team is that far off, depending on what they get from the QB.

I'm pretty concerned with Dline depth, esp at NT and lack of another pass rusher outside of Myles. I know the popular opinion is Ogbah, but he hasn't me that. Great at run defense, solid but unspectacular in pass rush.

Secondary is also a big question mark to me. Peppers was god fucking awful last yr. Can he better this season? Absolutely, will he be? We'll see. Can Randall play FS? He thinks so, we'll see. I could easily envision both not working out, and we're left with a safety hole.

CB- Another big question mark. We spent a bunch of $$$ so you hope it works out, but again we'll see.

TEs - yeah I like the players but they have proven exactly nothing. Hope they work out, again we'll see.

HC- Hard to win in this league when you have the worst coach in NFL history. Not just my opinion, record speaks for itself.

Owner - He's a crooked POS.

I'm most confident in the TE position working out, but I still pretty big holes.

Next year's draft is LOADED with D-Line, which is the direction I hope they go. Had read where Bradley Chubb would've likely been the 6th or 7th best DL in the 2019 draft. Agree on your comment at corner. Need someone to pair with Ward.

I kind of like what they have at TE but we'll see.

I don't think they will need a whole bunch as I assume they will grab a couple of guys in FA.

Just hope Dorsey doesn't screw up the cap like what happened in KC. Speaking of which, unless they have a bunch of short term deals, the Rams look like they could be in cap Hell in the not too distant future.

Still not seeing or hearing anything about Dez being back in Cleveland. All I saw on that link was about his appearance on HK's.

I think Kendrick’s and Ogbah will be more than productive opposite of Garrett

I like Kendricks. Been seeing a lot where Thursday night could be "put up or shut up" for Jamie Collins. He may go to 2nd team or be on the bubble.

Anyone here subscribe to the Athletic? I just signed up when I saw a 40% off code on the site (think it was $36 for the year). The Indians coverage with Meisel is very good, but they are building up their NFL base too, and my buddy just took a job as their national draft guy.  Was just wondering if anyone else has used it. They have a whole Cleveland section plus national and other cities.

Don't subscribe but they have guys from the Athletic on 92.3 all of the time. Most of what they do seems solid.

Yea, the newest addition is Dane, that you sometimes quote on here for where he ranks prospects. They also added Lombardi (douche), Ross Tucker, and Jay Glazer to their national NFL coverage today.

Lombardi is a butthurt ass bitch. The others you mentioned are solid. Ross Tucker is growing on me more & more. Usually listen to him on the Morning Drive (Channel 88 Sirius). Saw Dane's top 32 ranking already. Good stuff.

Their list of reporters and writers is crazy talented. But, I can't justify for paying for content when I can still get plenty for free. If the business runs that way, and the options become scarce, Ill probably join.
