I'd be interested in your opinions on static stretching.

I've been doing it at the end of workouts (about half the time) for most of my life.  I do it because I learned to do it while playing football and wrestling in high school.  Recently, I've decided that it has done nothing to benefit me at all.  I'm not particularly flexible and stretching has never made a bit of difference with that.  I doubt it's prevented any injuries either.  A couple of months ago while doing it, I thought "Why the hell am I doing this all the time.  It is stupid."  So I quit doing it altogether.  Now, a few months later, I feel absolutely no different.  I'm beginning to think static stretching (not to be confused with dynamic warm ups) is a complete and total waste of time.  I'm sure my JV football coach (God rest his soul) would have me run wind sprints for saying this.

So what are your opinion?

Rarely do it unless my back starts to feel tight or a little sore. Then I'll just do some standing hamstring stretches (bend over and touch toes - may get crazy sometimes and cross legs to help out IT Band).

If my hips are feeling tight sometimes I will sit on a chair and cross one leg over and rest ankle on my knee and try to get chest to leg. That is a good one.

Otherwise, no static stretching. Mainly a quick dynamic warmup, some lacrosse ball work, and foam roll. I am 30. I hate stretching/warming up too lol.

I never warmed up until  I hit about 45.  Now I do it religiously.

I don’t recommend any kind of medicine to reduce your weight or to keep your body in shape. Instead of using any kind of medicine, you should make a schedule for yourself. You should talk to a nutritionist in this regard. For more tips visit this site ptcl speed testFollow the diet plan and keep doing exercise. Daily walk and some work out will be really helpful. Medicines have side effects and everything will become really complicated for you if you start taking medicines.

I don't know.  Cocaine helped me stay fit and trim.  I also felt that heroin helped me take the focus off of food.

I stepped on the scale the other morning and did not like what I saw. I need to get my diet back in order ASAP. If anyone has any recommendations for easy to fix, healthy lunches that don't suck I'd love to hear them.

Bummer

Got a punching bag a couple weeks ago. Talk about a humbling and intense workout.

Very weird. When I click on page 18 I get "server error" so I have to post at the bottom of page 17.

Just bought a cable crossover type attachment called PulleyPro that will add a little variety in the form of crossovers, side/rear delt work and cable overhead extensions.

I bought 2 adjustable kettlebells. They are fun.

Which did you buy? I am in the market for kettlebells and kinda like the idea of an adjustable one.

Bowflex. They only go up to 40lb.

Not the best made on the market regarding quality, the housing is plastic and the handle is meh.

But they are extremely user friendly regarding changing weight, take up minimal space and get the job done. I've been using them regularly for shoulder PT.

I have the Powerblock adjustable kettlebells. Mine go up to 70 or 75 lbs, I believe. I use them with battle ropes as a finisher after weights a couple of times a week. Real good quality (metal handle).

Also annoying that words are getting cut off at the end of a line with a letter or two to finish the word starting the next line.

Ahh, damn. I was trying to fix an issue with URLs causing the page to stretch and didn't notice it was cutting all words onto new lines.

With doing home work outs with basically dumbbells, a pull down for triceps is what I'd like to add most.  Looks like I can add to my pull up tower and not drill into the basement ceiling?

This is correct. Pretty sweet setup. I bought two so I can do cable crossovers. I have a Body Solid Smith Machine that has these catchers for a barbell that go all the way up the rack. I have a fat bar that's cambered for curls and close grip benches. I put this bar in the top catcher on the Smith machine and just slipped the PulleyPro's over each side and I'm ready to roll. If you buy two, you should be able to do seated row, cable curls, etc. You won't need to drill.

And by the way, if you only get one you can do tricep pushdowns/extensions, lat pulldowns, one arm side laterals for medial delt head work and I'm sure a few other exercises. Two just gives you more exercise options.

You guys still working on getting that mothahfuckin scholarship?

I’m at it at least five days a week, usually six. Run three days, lift twice, then sixth day is either elliptical or another day of lifting. And work the punching bag a couple times a week.

I'm just eating well and walking at this point. I do need to start lifting soon, but I think my energy levels will finally allow for it now that I'm actually eating enough.

Go for Ironmaster.  A lot of the plates are interchangeable with their other adjustable equipment (dumb bells, kettlebells, curl bar).

Not cheap, but very highly rated.

Still hitting the weights 5 days a week and walking in between.

Also, it isn't getting easier as you get older. I still throw around decent weights but have to work around a bum left shoulder which is tricky.

Deadlifted every week over the summer. Feel good right now with what I am doing as far as the weight and movement.

Typically did a day of a barbell complex one day a week too just to keep it fresh. Something like 5 rounds of 5. Just good to get some variety for me.

Goblet Squatted and RFESS once a week too for the last 10-11 weeks.

About every other week I do some variation of power clean and/or hang clean too just to keep some explosiveness in there.

I also have toyed around the last 2-3 weeks with a 1x20 exercise or two to finish with. Instead of BB Rows 3x8, I will just do 1x20.

I revamped my program in the spring. Barbell bench and OH press were killing my shoulders. Now I’m doing machines for everything except squat.
