Not that far, probably 210-215...im guessing I can Get a 2-iron off 220-225

Wildcat-I’ll look into that club. I’m not great at golf so I probably won’t spend too much on this club, but if I can get a decent deal I wouldn’t mind grabbing it. I would probably make good use of it with how poor I drive

There are 3 different GAPR’s. Lo, Mid, Hi. Lo has more of an iron shape and feel. Mid still has those characteristics but is more of a hybrid. And the Hi is basically your standard hybrid. All 3 have multiple lofts to choose from, as well. Probably can get a used one in good shape for around $100 or a little more.

I've been experimenting with a Maltby 2 hybrid "driving iron" off and on for a while now. It finally started clicking for me today, on the 5 holes I hit it off the tee I hit 4 fairways, and put it out there 230+. The fairway I missed wasn't a bad miss, just pushed it a bit right.

That looks similar to the GAPR Lo. Probably very similar specs too.

Similar, for sure. I'm pretty sure the GAPR has some sort of proprietary foam injected in it.

When I hit this club well it sounds and feels great, and goes a long way. I think I paid $40 for it.

I got my 1 iron at Kmart in 1989. A Dunlop for $12....cool story grandpa

I now carry my grandfathers 2 1/2 wood....it’s an early 80’s club. Sweet spot is small on those older clubs but fun to pull out of the bag and play.

My first set were Dunlops from Walmart bc my old man wouldn’t let me use his Pings and they were all I could afford on my paper route money lol

In green alone both Raintree and Chenoweth are nice. Mayfair isn’t bad but it’s also not as nice as it used to be either.

Have you played Tannenhauf or Skyland Pines recently?

I’ve never played Tannenhauf. It’s probably been close to 5 years since I played Skyland Pines.  It’s a short course but not bad.  Tree lined.  Pretty tight.

I’ve played them both, just curious how they are nowadays. We added a guy who isn’t too great, doesn’t break 100, to our group. So I was looking for something a little easier for him. We might be going with Chenoweth. We are heading to Links at Firestone Farms in the afternoon on Saturday. I’m super pumped for that place.

Yeah goto Chenoweth.  I don’t need anymore broken siding from your new guy lol jk

Won a new club on a golf forum I frequent and it was delivered today.

Now I have two 2 hybrid driving irons. This one is 17*, the Maltby is 19*.

So far, since joining in December 2018, I've won a free trip to Vegas (played at TPC Vegas and Cascata), a free set of Hogan PTx Pro irons with UST shafts that can't be configured through the Hogan website (part of the Vegas trip winnings), and this Ping Crossover. Not bad for just under 2 years.

Pretty pumped for the tour to return to TPC Boston this week. Hate that it isn’t an every year stop anymore.

Played in a scramble Sunday. Had some fun but we just played okay.

What’s some of the best 4 man scramble scores you’ve seen or been around? The team that won Sunday was 17 under. I’d imagine that’s pretty good but nothing earth shattering.

We won one a couple weeks ago at -17 at Kyber Run in Johnstown. We got called cheaters by one of the teams tied for 2nd place team who finished at -15. We could have easily been -20 but we missed a few putts.

I think a little of both. It’s the 3rd time in 6 years that my team has won. Usually we shoot around -14, but it was always at Blackhawk in Galena. Which was a tougher course. They want to play us for $1000/man next year. Idiots.

I played in one about 3 years ago a Sanctuary in North Canton. We were on fire and shot a -16. Felt pretty good about that. The winners came in like 45 minutes after everyone else and had a -22. I called bullshit. That was a birdie on all par 4's and 3's and an eagle on all 5's. if you're shooting like that, you're not 45 minutes later than everyone else.  Their excuse was the got all the markers for long drive and closest to pins.. but everyone who finished on that hole brought them in. I'll never believe we weren't robbed lol.

Oh yeah, the last minute scorecard turn in or the super late group is always a dead giveaway.

This year for us it wasn’t a shotgun start and we were like the 7th out of 26 groups to finish. And the group bitching was 2nd to last to finish. So if anything, their score was probably fake haha
