This is an open thread for any golf discussion for us non-professionals.
I joined a golf league this year for the first time and I am enjoying it so far. My game is steadily improving with regular play. The course is pretty tough (http://www.devouparkgolf.com/), built into the hills of northern Kentucky, but it's well maintained.
Anyone else in a league this year? If not, have you had the chance to play much?

I just bought a new M4. I’ve been playing A TON this summer(and last summer). My work schedule really helps out since I work Sunday-Wednesday. I have prime golf days off. I’ve been taking it more serious as of late. Before I would never go to the range and work, now I’ll go at least once a week.

How do you like the M4? I'm in the market for a new driver and saw those at Golf Exchange. Nice looking club, it would be a tough pill dropping over $400 on a single club. I plan on saving up a bit and getting fitted for a new driver this winter, the last one I bought was a TaylorMade Superfast Burner on ebay about 7-8 years ago.

I literally just ordered it. But I’ve hit my buddy’s a few times and love it. I have the original M1, which I still hit well, I just felt like an upgrade. What really sucks is I’ll get basically nothing for my M1 as a trade in.
If you buy direct from TM, you can do their upgrade program that allows you to basically open a line of credit and make 18 monthly payments. After 12 months, you can upgrade to the newest model and just start a new payment plan. Or you can continue the rest of the original plan and pay it off. It’s “only” 9.99% APR, so it’s not terribly expensive.

I went to Golf Galaxy and probably hit 150 balls with so many different shafts, I can’t eveb remember. I found one I liked and was able to customize the club with it on TM’s site.

Did you do all of the fitting on your own since you ended up buying online, or did you have a Golf Galaxy employee help out? I won't be buying from Golf Galaxy, but prices were the same at Golf Exchange and they have a pretty nice club fitting setup.

I had one of their fitting guys help me. I had a basic idea of what I wanted, but he helped me get to what I decided on. Then I used the custom option on TM’s site and found the same shaft, thankfully for no upgrade charge.

dont play much anymore....played a rund last week at Windy Knoll in Springfield last week. 39 on the front and 45 on back. Was not happy.
Played there a couple months ago for the first time. Enjoyed the track. Played like shit, but had a good time.

I used to play 3-4 times a week, and loved the game. I didn't touch the clubs once last year, and have been out 1x this year. For me, I don't really enjoy just picking the clubs up and going out hacking, so I'd rather just not play. When I pick up the game again, I prefer to golf as much as I possibly can.

Just played a shitty 9 holes, but there was a silver lining. I found a ton of balls in the woods on a brutally narrow par 5 (I took a 10 after my 7th shot flew the green) and started playing one of them on 8. It was a Callaway Chrome Soft ball with a soccer ball pattern (pink). Parred 8. Parred 9. I'll be buying a dozen this weekend.

Yeah those balls are everywhere. I find 2-3 almost every round I play.

I found two, the pink that I played very well with on the final two holes, and a yellow one. I'm sure it wasn't the balls, but it's hard to ignore playing like crap for 6 holes (I had a great 20+ foot putt to bogey the first hole) and then par the final two after switching to the new ball.
Also, as poorly as I played, my putting was great. I did just replace my putter grip last weekend, which I think made a huge difference.

Meh I only play about 1-2 times a week anymore and maybe driving range once a week as well. Little rant here just so busy with work as we are not well staffed since they’re trying to figure out how to meld Rite Aid into the fold so we don’t know how many to hire and when these stores will be added exactly yet.
I will say my short game is still pretty solid, but the shots are very inconsistent. Had an 80 at Maumee Bay with a couple birdies, followed it up with a 90 at Stone Ridge that included 2 triples. Hopefully I’ll be able to get out a little more especially with the cool down

Anyone have experience with Sun Mountain golf bags? I've got my eye on the C130 cart bag.

Speaking of which...you guys carry, use rolling cart or an actual motorized cart?
If I go on my own I always carried. Wife bought me a sweet push in front cart I use some now. If I go with buddies or my son we always take a cart.
Cart. Or pull cart. I don't mind walking, but I'm not lugging a bag full of clubs around on my back.

Made my first step to going out this year. Went to my sister’s 6 acres and mowed me out a green and 5 tee boxes from 110-200 yards out
Seems like a decent use of acreage.
