I just don’t think it’s necessary to know you are 172.4 yards away when you can look at the marker and know you are between 170-175. It’s the same club and how many know our 172.4 swing and then execute it. I just think they are completely unnecessary.
Hust my lutticisous opinion
Sure, you're not wrong.
I do enjoy the convenience of keeping track of my strokes, including putts and GIR, on my wrist. I also like how it will track shot distances, so I can start to get a better idea how far I actually hit my clubs. Also, getting distances to hazards is nice, not something you're always going to have access to on the course.

I don’t need the decimal either, mine doesn’t do decimals; but I would 100% rather know I’m 172 vs thinking I’m 170.
Same club sure, but 2-3 yards shorter/longer into a green is a big difference.

Or knowing that a water hazard or bunker is an exact number away rather than having no idea.

It is? Lol unless you're consistently playing some brutal track with heavily guarded greens it doesn't. Most courses slope back to front on the greens for drainage so it's always going to be softer landing in the front portion of the green

And if you’re 172 out and you think it’s 170, it’s coming off the front.

I need a good course up in the BG/Toledo area to play on Friday...
Right now we have it narrowed down to The Legacy, Eagles Landing, Red Hawk Run(Findlay).
Any other suggestions?

Forest Creason (BGSU Course) isn't terrible.
Stone Ridge is very nice.
Riverby Hills isn't bad

Riverby Hills is another option.
I really like Stone Ridge(played an outing there); but they have very few tee times for Friday and what they have doesn’t fit our schedule.

For those who have played golf around Cincinnati, what is your favorite course in the area?
I really like Hickory Sticks out in California, KY. It's kinda remote, but it's a fun course and you can always get great deals on greens fees. Legendary Run is another nice course, kinda out of the way.
I've heard great things about AJ Jolly, but haven't played yet. The course looks awesome in pictures.

Only course down that way I have played is Lassing Pointe in Union, KY.
Its been several years, but from what I remember it was a really nice track. Remember it being pretty tough too.

I quit using my range finder when I realized I was hitting way worse approaches than I used to when I just guessed a yardage. The exact numbers messed with my brain and I'd try to put a different swing on it to get the right yardage. Now I walk it off and hit it. It took awhile because the rangefinder ruined my ability to guess a yardage. It was like starting over. But you get it back. The only time I get frustrated is when I feel i hit it like i want, but the front flag stick was more middle than anything.

When I lived there over 20+ years ago I always enjoyed playing Blue Ash and a course on the east side that I think was called The Vineyard or something similar. I also enjoyed the course in Mason that closed several years ago. I think it had an Eagle in the name.
I've heard good things about Blue Ash, but haven't played yet. I think I played The Vineyard (it's a Hamilton County course) two years ago and enjoyed it.

Golf is stupid. My new gps watch was nice to have, but I don't think it made much of a difference today. At least the weather was nice.

FINALLY getting to give my m4 a whack tomorrow. Heading out to Red Hawk Run in Findlay. Hopefully I don’t suck.

Well, it's obviously not going to have an I-75 address...

Forrest Creason is horrible because it’s not open any longer. Stone Ridge has some killer deals for how nice of a public course it is ($25 after 3 or $20 after 5) for as much as you can play and that essentially killed off Forrest Creason.
I will say Red Hawk is probably the hardest course in NW Ohio you can play without a membership, and seems to be pretty much a place for Marathon execs to build giant houses. It’s not on 75 but west of the city by about three miles.
Pretty wide open course that is kind of a links setup, but it’s an extremely challenging modern course. Plays 6750 from the Blue and 7100 at the tips with 10-11-12 at the Blue tees going 433-450-412 just to give you an idea length wise. Love playing there although it’s a bit of a drive from Perrysburg but it’s a bear to play
