I remember him having strong feelings about mode of transporting clubs, but I don't remember the specifics.
You were a terrible person if you did not walk. Literally. Then he joined a league where they used carts, IIRC.
2nd part not 100% accurate. 1st part is.
Sounds about right.
I ride 99% of the time. If a course is cart path only, I will walk. Typically, I’ll walk a few rounds at the beginning and end of the season just because.
Basically, I’m a lazy fuck so I like to ride.

That’s all I could envision when she bought it lol.
I used to walk all of the time and absolutely loved it. Walking from shot to shot gave you the opportunity to clear your head and really read the course.
The problem I had with walking without a pull cart was that it was exhausting and absolutely wrecked my swing after 10-11 holes. If I had a nice pull cart I'd walk more, but it's a lot easier to ride.

I found you get used to it pretty quickly but that was then. I found that walking up a hill and making a 4 foot putt with an elevated heart rate was very similar to making a free throw in the 4th qtr.
True story here (hard to believe but it is)...back in 1957 when my grandfather was in his early 20’s he set the world record by walking (carrying bag) 126 holes of golf. He did it at the current Logan Country Club which has plenty of hills. Shot +7 on the day.

actually, I play better when pulling a cart because it tires me out a little--when riding a cart I just can't seem to get in a rhythm like I can when I walk
I’ll walk, but I’m very much a ready golfer. Practice swing on only half my shots (all chips), never on a drive and rarely on an approach. We usually are hitting our shots while playing partners ball is still rolling. I’ve got no time for waiting around lol
I prefer the cart, because if it’s not a weekend, a foursome can finish in 3 hours. I’m not trying to be out in a golf course in hot weather for 5+ hours.

Yeah...I cannot tolerate Mr. 3 practice swings and Uber putt aligner then shoots 91. Hit the flipping ball. A few shots a round require extra time.
One practice swing, address ball, hit ball. Unfortunately, whether you have a cart or not, if you have dawdlers ahead of you, you ain't going anywhere...imo, there's nothing more frustrating during a round of golf than waiting, on each and every shot. Nothing.

Which is the main reason I almost never play on the weekends. Obviously, it’s not possible for everyone though. I work Sunday-Wednesday, so I get prime days for golf. And if I do have/want to play on the weekends, I’ll go twilight.
I play mostly solo too. Which is nice, until I get behind the 3-4 foursomes of old fucks who don’t let people play through.
one practice swing, everybody knows the rules.
Sounds like we all agree on speed of play pretty well.
Last summer I played 54 holes out at Darby Creek in a little over 4 hours....so yeah lol
There is no reason why you can't play quickly. You aren't on the PGA Tour.

Atta boy.
I used to tee off at 7:30 to beat the old men to the course and would be done with 18 right at or just after 9.....walking.
Most I ever played in a day was 63....walked them but I was 18.

I rode the 54 and was beat. Then again, it was a nasty, hot, and humid day. I could never, even in my younger days, walk 63 in a day.

The last summer I played a lot (2014?) I would walk 9 holes a day (hilly course) 3-4x a week and would feel gross. Builds an incredible thirst lol. But from young age I always carried and walked, it was all I knew. Can’t remember it ever affecting my play....it would now if I went out today.
Practice swing? I usually take 2-3 practice shots. Pick the best one. Newbs.
How many mulligans do you guys allow per hole?
