This was just a round at our club over lunch. League is tomorrow at a different course. But we fluff our lies and play OB laterally in our league.

Gotcha. Lateral penalties is the only way to play unless you need a real handicap for something

It was the most abysmal round I've ever played. I CANNOT get off the tee box. I go to the range and everything is fine. I get on the course and I can't do shit off the tee. I don't fucking get it.

Just so many things to try. Golf is brutal lol. My best advice is always ...keep it simple stupid.

Look up John Rahm and watch his little condensed swing.

Ball not going off tee as it’s not getting off the ground or you are just spraying it everywhere?

Topping everything.

Sounds like your looking up before impact. Obviously could be a few issues, but that’s a typical “topping” issue.

Yep, it's 100% what I'm doing. And I know it. And I still fucking do it.

Topping everything.

Trying to kill it maybe.

Certainly want to focus eyes just behind the bottom of the ball. Make sure backswing doesn’t pull your eyesite off of the target.

Or mess with your brain and tee it up LOWER

Maybe in the beginning. But I focused on slowing down my backswing and swinging easy and it still happened. My wife says I should get a lesson, but as I said, everything is absolutely fine on the range. I'll hook one every once in a while, but 90% of my shots do exactly what I want on the range.

Couldn’t hit the fairways today and lived in the trees several holes but pulled some great recovery shots. Was +4 thru 3 holes....chipped in on 4....bogey, par, par, par, par. Got up and in on 7-9 and my 2nd shot on 8 was incredible with where I was. I called it before I hit it so it counts as not lucky lol.

39 on the par 35.....bad part though my shots are wearing off and the last 4-5 holes I couldn’t  chip or putt the way I want. I can’t get set, look at target and look back...I can’t get my neck reset. It didn’t cost me a single shot today but it could certainly get me several as it was. More shots in 2 weeks so hopefully I can keep playing.

Shot 78 at Cook’s Creek today. Course was a total disaster. But I managed. I’m really disappointed in the condition. In good condition it’s a top 5 course in central Ohio.

I haven’t played there since probably 2003?....but remember shooting a 78. It was great then. Loved that course.

Shot a 39 on a par 35 today but was free swinging and neck didn’t stop anything. I seriously cannot hit an iron, it’s not embarrassing but I have the not cool skill of hitting a 7 wood type club anywhere from 120-180 so I just keep using it on my second shots and par 3’s

Love the course. It’s a great layout. But I won’t go back anytime soon. It was an absolute dog track.

Anyone else miss watching Anthony Kim play? He was so fun to watch when he was feeling it. Went after every flag. Did so successfully. I always thought he had a bright future. I know he made the money from the insurance payout, but I have to wonder how much he coulda made if he would have come back. He was so young at the time. I know golf is incredibly hard to make money consistently at, but he seemed like he had it.

Everyone thinks the policy had a clause in it, but I've seen some rumors stating otherwise. I don’t think he really loved the Tour life. I think he liked the fame and fortune, but not the actual life. Plus he liked the booger sugar quite a bit.

But yes, I miss watching him play a ton. He was so damn likable. And could really play.

I could see that.  He seemed like a personal guy. You could tell at times the golf course wasn't where he wanted to be. I think he even made comments that he'd rather be surfing before after rounds. I'll never forget his 11 birdie round at the Masters. I don't think I ever saw anything quite like that. Even from Tiger.

For a while I was a local legend at Cook's Creek.  Not because of what I shot but because I got shot!  A group of work buddies were playing on a July 4th weekend, I think in 1999 or 2000 and as we approached the first green we kept hearing a popping sound but didn't pay much attention to it.  I had just teed off on the 2nd and was walking to my cart when i heard a pop and then an immediate pain in my left shoulder.  Come to find out a family (mom, dad, 6-yo child) were target shooting from across the creek at a tree by the 2nd tee box and I took one in the shoulder.  My friends went beserk on them and mom and dad both immediately blamed it on the kid.  The ranger heard the commotion and came to see what was going on. Fortunately they were firing a pellet gun and it didn't break the skin but raised a heck of a welp.  We continued playing and then about 30 minutes later here comes a deputy sheriff in a golf cart out to get a statement from me and my friends.  I told them I wouldn't press charges if he would go talk to them and he ssured me he would be talking to them!

Fast forward about 7 years and I go back out there and mention I had gotten shot and they all remembered the incident and gave me a discount on my fees!

Glad they didn't shoot your eye out. Funny story given no serious injury.

Working on a few things with my swing, I think I might have something to focus on to get rid of all the shit I've been dealing with.

So who else hits a few balls perfectly after trying something new and thinks they’ve finally figured golf out. Only to go out the next time and be just as shitty as you always were?
